  1. BTU 4000 Low Amps 18 High AMps 35 I'd end up standed with a dead battery.
  2. Ya, I think mine are 11 1/4th also. I read the tape pretty quickly for I was in a hurry.
  3. Per the attached picture what is your handle bar spacing distance. That is at near the top which is the widest distance between handle bar opening around the nut that keeps the handle bar on. . Is it 11 3/8; or 12 1/8; or 13 1/8 inches. There can be other settings but I think these 3 are the most common. Working on a slight different design that will accomodiate various settings. Thanks.
  4. I like the idea of hoseing down the entire riding outfit. And I do have a light silver helmet.
  5. What about this idea. About drilling a cone shape hole into the left bolt of the handel bar bolt and the left end of the turn buckle bar come to a small round point so the rounded point can rotate and swivle to accomodiate the varing handle bar angle positions in the cone hole of the bolt. Then allow the turn buckle to lengthen the bar. Might still incorporate a locking nut on the threaded end. The more I look at mine installed, I really like how it looks. It would stabilize the handle bars more, and maybe we could make the 1st Gen VR more versatile of becoming an Off Rode Venture also. ;-)
  6. There is a chance that I could be riding to the Las Vegas Area around 19 June to 2nd of July. I would like to ride to the Grand Canyon area and into maybe a bit south, kind of want to experience the Arizona landscape. Question 1) How do you ride in the heat, yet still have adiquate protective riding gear. My riding gear consist of Tour Master Transition 2 Jacket with the matchinig Tour Master Venture Pants. Obviously I'll remove the thermal and waterproof lining and have all the jacket and pants air vents open. I also have the Clearview shield with the air vent. Will being lots of bottled water. Question 2) Leaving Las Vegas I would like to ride thru Death Valley going towards Sauramento. But leaving Las Vegas means that I would be going into Death Valley late morning. My 91 MKII gets the normal 40 mpg +or - 2 mpg depending on how I twist the throttle. Being that it looks pretty straight and flat I'm thinking that I should be getting the plus 1 or 2 mpg at about 65 mph. Where are the gas stops? Would I really need to bring an extra gallon of gas? Most of my life I've been able to handle heat better than the average, and not normally a complainier of uncomfortable environments. Except I do complain of high humidity. I just want to ride safe and would appreciate your heat riding experience advise. Also if there are any members that would like to take me on some local rides, I'd be open to that.
  7. I'll do some investigating for 2nd Gen.
  8. Ya I'm going to be experimenting with the other handle bar settings and making some prototypes. I would be interested if each reader would measure the top opening of their bars, per the picture, so to see what settings are most commonally used. Mine are currently set at 11 3/8. I really do not think anyone would be setting their handle bars any narrower than 11 3/8. I'll be opening my bars up this week and taking some measurements.
  9. If anyone is interested in one, just post here and I'll see what kind of a price I can get based on the quantity of interest.
  10. OK, here's my latest invention on how I plan to mount up to 3 accessories on the Handle Bar Accessory Turn Buckle Bar. Now that’s a mouthful. Each End is a 17 mm opening that fits over each 17 mm nut. First You turn the turn buckle to draw the ends in. You slide the left end in over the 17mm nut. Then slide the right end into the opening You grab the Right End then you turn the center of the turn buckle down. As the right end buts up against the 17 mm nut you twist the right end to fit over the 17 mm nut as you continue to turn the turn buckle. The two ends will extend out putting pressure onto the handle bars. The bar is milled at 7/8 inch. I will be putting the least strength lock tight on the turn buckle threads. The 17 mm openings on each end will be slghtly tapered so to make a real tight fit. I plan to mount my GPS, Ipod, Cell Phone.
  11. My 89 VR came with a markland heal/toe. Took a while to get used to it, infact about 4000 miles later in about 2 years, I still get mixed up once in a while. Guess its that short term memory thing. But wearing only a mens 8 boot I prefer the heal/toe. If I had sasquatch feetI'd probably cut the heal off also. So for those who have sasquatch feet, do you cut the pasenger seat hump off also. Say, hows the weather there?

  17. Sure wish I could find a non running Maroon 91 parts VR for my Maroon 91 VR here in Washington State. Been looking everyday religiously and praying also.
  18. If you would like to response please read my posting throughly to understand each fact and statement. I'm very interested in your expert opinions and experiences. I've now had my progressive for about 500 miles and I really like them in the twisties and on nice smooth roads. However the slight bumps are beginning to annoy me. And I have nothing to say good about bigger bumps. These were purchased New from Sky_Doc_17 for a 91 VR. The old oil were drained for over 24 hours out the drain plug. I put the tight coils in first. I have no spacer except the OEM washer to center the springs in the forks to prevent the springs from rubbing against the inner forks. I have Zero front air pressure. I'm weigh in at about 175 lbs. The forks were completely compressed using a floor jack. I experiented from 5.5 inches of oil to 9.5 inches of oil from the top of the forks. Just a very slight improvement if any at the current 9.5 inches. I was told that even at 10 inches that is in all respect safe for all internal fork and spring components. It was recommendated 20 wt. I was also told that the oil wt does not have any relationship to when the forks are compressed but only on the decompression or expanding of the forks. The 20 wt slows the decompression action a bit more than the 15 wt and that difference are felt in high speed racing conditions when every little difference counts. So the 20 wt should really be a more smoother ride. So if you use an oil with less than 20 wt, I'd appreciate your response only if you have actually experimented with different weight fork oil. Otherwise to say that you prefer the 10 or 15 wt oil and have only used that wt oil doesn't help with the evaluation. I've read just about all the threads on progressive springs and seem like most riders weighing in at 250 plus like the springs all around performance. Now when my wife and I ride we weigh in at about 305 lbs and I really feel very little difference and that maybe becase the additional weight is mostly on the rear shocks. I've read one posting that it took a couple of 1000 miles to break in the springs. Is there something that I may have left out? If not then is there anything else I can do, besides gain about 100 PLus lbs for my 5' 8" stature? Oh one more item. I have Sky_Doc_17 replacement cover for removing the anti dive unit. Oh another item. I did try different tire pressure frmo 35 lbs to 42 lbs. Not much difference. I prefer to use manfacture recommended tire pressure than running it lower.
  19. This ? is for MKII riders with Progressive Springs weighing in at around 170 lbs plus or minus 5 lbs. I've installed my Progressive about 500 miles ago and I really like the ride in the corners and on really smooth roads. The slight bumps are getting to the point of being annoying.
  20. That be great if the wife could drive. One could really cover some miles in a good days ride. My wife drove the Wing with me on back. This was interesting. I would get on 1st and she would get in front of me mostly on the tank. I was her landing rears. She would take off as I draged my foot. Once uder way I would kick back into the passenger seat and she would slide back into the driver seat. The biggest bike she rode before that was my 69 Kaw 90. She got the hang of it really quick on our 800 miles to Red Deer Alberta from Puyallup WA. Coming to a stop she would slide on top of the tank and I would slide into the drivers seat. Lower my feet and draged as she breaked to a stop while I then took a hold of the handle bars. I put the side stand down then dismount and she would dismount. We never got stop by the police. All she had was a m/c permit. Back in 1980 I had an 80 1100 Goldwing, I would get on first then my wife. I was shy 5' 8" about 145 lbs and she 5' about 115 lbs. Just standard foot pegs, so I was easily flat footed. No problems. That was then, so today about 29 years later I'm still shy 5' 8" but added about 30lbs tilting the scale at 175. She is still 5' and around 130 lbs. The 1 Gen is much taller than my 80 Wing. The VR has floor boards also. So with the rear air up to 55 + lbs I'm not flat footed. But as she climbs on board then I end up flat footed. But she has challenges getting on, with me already on. As she is having challenges getting on and taking too long I end up loosing my foot hold on the VR. So with the side stand down she puts the drivers back rest foward onto the tank then steps onto the drivers floor boards then swings her right leg over then slides into the passenger seat. When getting of, I put the side stand down, get off move the back rest forward. Then take my right hand and put it under her right boot as she is trying to lift her right boot over the seat, which seems to be an obsticle. As I the pulled her right boot/leg over the seat then she would slides of the bike. It is an interesting event to watch. Oh I have to remember to shut the engine off as she is climbing onboard for her 1st step is to put her left foot on the driver floor board. As she then swings over and slides back, I could see her foot accidentally hit the heal of the shift toe/heal shifter and putting the VR into 2nd gear. So now I shut the engine off as she mounts.
  21. All, thank you for the pictures.
  22. Wow... that makes me think how one could ride differently on a 4 lane intersection. Too many times its that car coming from your right. Maybe making a habit of taking the inside lane and if heads up enough to let a car be up and to the right front of you. If no car up and to the front right, at least one has a spit second more time. Any thoughts?
  23. Does the 2nd Gen Ventures have the word Venture anywhere on the bike. If so could someone send me a picture of one.
  24. Ok, I've captured all the orders on this thread. So please place no more orders on this tread. If you would like to order some patches please go to the thread "Venture Patch with New Font - Just Beautiful... " and place order there. There has been an improvement on the font to the word "Venture". I'm pretty sure all will also like the new font.
  25. Bump. Just putting a post marker here for I've collect all of the above orders, and will soon be notifing each what their cost would be if they still want to order. Others still can place their order on this thread. But it will soon close.
