  1. Under the rack makes sense, then you just have to negotiate speed bumps.

Hmmm did not think about that. Being that I already did it last night I went and measured it this morning and I have 12 1/2 inch clearance. I have a couple of speed bumps on my street. I'll see how it does. Ther I could always move the plate up and use the lower holes.

I did find a nice soft LED white license plate light. Looks really nice and soft at night.

  2. Brian,

How did you attach the rack to the trailer hitch? Looks like the hitch might be a Markland. Is the rack a quick disconnect from the hitch? Did you remove the hitch ball?

I've got a Markland hitch on my '90 and have been kicking around the idea of a rack like that.

    Go to http://www.rivcoproducts.com/

Scroll down a little an on the left search for hitch.

    Look for

    SKU: GL18008

    Quick Detach Cooler Rack (11"x16")

Woo prices went up by about $35.00

There is a bigger rack SKU: GL18010

But it blocks my turn signals

Besides I also go the Golf Caddy.

    It disconnects really easy.

  3. Think I will make a plate to attach the License plate and frame with a light. Only I will hang the plate below the cooler rack so I can carry something that might be a bit bigger than the cooler rack so the luggage can hang over the edge of the rack.

  4. So what do you all think. Will this pass?

What do those who pull a trailer do when the cooler rack blocks the plate.

I know I could drill holes in back of the cooler rack, and put the plate there.

  5. Painted it last night and installed it this morning.

    Here is a picture.

I spoke to my friend and told him that there are 3 who are very interested and would like to know what he would charge to make some.

He said that being I'm going to be gone for awhile and retuning mid July to wait till then to see if more members might be interested.

    So pass the word along.

  6. I'm riding from Seattle area to Southern California area and was wonder if any one with a Spot GPS would consider loaning/renting theirs out.

They are about $100 for the Spot and about $100 for a 1 year subscription. I don't think I would use it that much else I would consider purchasing one.

I'm leaving next Sat (16th June) early morning.

  7. Just wondering if the patches have shipped? I have not got them yet and want to be sure they didn't get lost.

Yes they arrived yesterday and I got most all in the mail today. I have to get some much larger envelopes for the 14 inch patches. I'll get them out tomorrow.

See my thread I created today.

Venture Patches Are In .... Except

  8. How did you make the bracket for the switches?

    Gary

I first made one all by hand and it was ok. When I showed it to my Goldwing machinest friend he found some flaws in it. He took some pictures and measurements and milled me this bracket. We made a few mods like milling around the horn button, milled the angles for added extra strength, milled for the screw so to take the bend out of mine.

It so cool how he progams his machine, and we just keep tweeking the program.

I plan on painting it but not sure if I want to paint it black for the buttons might be hard to see. Maybe a different shade of black.

  9. Those will grab people by the eyes! I have some similar for fog/running lights. I like the rearward facing idea, but be careful you don't flash them at law enforcement. At least here is SD it is a traffic offense to have a white light illuminated facing the rear, except for the license plate light. There are some highway patrol officers that are sticklers for this and make lots of stops.

    Stay Safe.

    Dave

Ya, I know about the white lights facing backwards. I may do amber, or red. I want to get the attention of cars to the rear of me if needed but yet allowing the rest of limbs to control the bike. I have an alternating flasher (left, right, left, right) but thats probably illegal also.

I know that when people brake to tell the vehicle following to back off some times irritates them. I wonder how an amber light would be received. I would not want to get on the bad side of a cager.

  10. I wanted to add a couple of new switches, but I wanted the switches to be accessible by my thumb without moving my hand.

    Two push button switches.

    1) for my Walmart special 55 watt really small lights that I hooked to the mirror brackets. This to get the attention of whom ever I feel the need to see me. Its a push switch. Push it, it is on. Let it go, it is off.

    2) I plan on adding on a couple of rear white LEDS, with same kind of switch.

  11. Venture Patches are being mail out tomorrow.

Except the order got shorted the Origional Fonts of the 3 1/2 inch patches.

I will mail out what I've received.

The 3 1/2 inch Origional patches will be mailed as soon as I receive them to the following:

    Patrolman46

    pmelah

    warrior/honeybee

    saddlebum

    Bummer

However I will be out of town soon and returning around mid July.

I'm very sorry about the shortage.

Hope you all enjoy the patches.

  12. I purchased a set of Passenger Arm Rest for my MKII and the hardware that mounts to the VR has some bad rusting and peeling parts.

I know that it is like cancer and so it will spread.

But I'm not into rechomeing for that is expensive.

So I could use some suggestions as to how to best treat the peeling and rusting chrome.

I don't know much about the mounting of it yet, but I'm pretty sure that it is on the inside where it can't be seen.

I've included a couple of pictures.

    Thanks for your advise.

  13. Are you trying to take it to zero psi because you installed Progressives? Just curious. :detective:

    B.

Yes, on the Progressive. Initially after the progressive I did not put any air in so it would have been Zero. I did not like the ride at Zero So I pressed Low an Auto and it put 11 lbs in and I did not like that eithor. So I let as much as I could out and so remained at 7 lbs. I liked it a bit better. So now I would like to get it down to 5 lbs then maybe 3 lbs.

  14. Someday I'm going to take the one off my VR and compare the two very closely. If do able I'm going ask my neighbor welder and have him move the hook and also to lengthen the stand a tiny bit. Sometimes I'm finding the VR kind of a struggle to get it off the side stand when 2 up, and sometimes only 1 up.

I'll need to add the foot peg hook at the end of the foot of the side stand.

Any caution thoughts of lengthing the stand? I'm thinking maybe 1/2 or 1 inch, depending on where it lays with the stand up on the VR.

One thought that is of concern is are all the stress points of the stand the same, because this stand would be for a lighter bike.
