My Insurance company has agreed to not implement the $3500.00 max limit on the value of my recent wrecked 91 VR, because of is age. What they have agreeded to is finding comparable listings. I can do a nationwide craiglist search but there are so many expired listings and that take a lot of time also. What I'm asking for is if you could do a craiglist search in your area or other types of advertising. I'm specificially looking for listings of any Venture Royales that are selling for $4500.00 or higher. The higher the asking price the better. Thanks for your help. Please send a copy of the add to golfmaniac2@yahoo.com

Would a helmet lock from a 1st Gen work?

This is a big Thank You to Miles (The Million Mile Rider) for coming up and putting my 89 VR back together and running this morning. Having only use of one hand it would be well into next year before I would have my other hand in useable condition. As soon as my left hand gets about 80% flexibility, I will be getting more surgury to fix some more bone relayed issues. Then back to therapy again. Miles reasembles the left handle bar switch. Swaped out the battery from my wrecked 91 VR to my 89 VR. Cleaned out the carbs and got all 4 cylinders firing. Reassembled my front headlights. He taught me a few tricks on M/C maintenance. Thank you again Miles.

Before I send them to the garbage, Are there any good reason to hang onto plastic that are broken, with chunks torn off, way beyond reasonable repair. As spare for my 89 VR of similar color.

Ok, since I've been back, I been going through 6 to 7 weeks of mail. The patches that I was shorted were mailed registered. The neighbor that was collecting my mail did not go to the post office to pick up the package, so after 2 attempts to deliver the postage office returned the package. I've been in communication with the sender and as soon as she receives the returned package she will resent them to me. Again the package needs to go through Homeland Security. Appreciate your continued patience.

Does anyone know if one from a 91 VR is interchangable? I have one on my wrecked 91 VR. I'll take it off and see if there is any damage. I'll PM you soon.

I thought that all 1st Gen Choke Switch are all the same. Located at the bottom of the switch housing. What years are between Switch Housing and the hand Grip?
-
I was told that all 1st Gen are the same but this is from A1bummer. So everyoner please check your choke switch. DAMN! I took another look at the pic of the switch. My choke isn't in the same place as yours. Yours is on the bottom of the switch housing and slides left/right. Mine is between the housing and handle grip and slides up/down. So I guess it won't work for mine. I think my choke would hit the back of the buttons. Mine is and an 84. My 83 parts bike has the choke setup like yours. Well that sucks. lol Thanks just the same man. Bill

So I gave my friend a count of 23 that are interested depending on the cost. Only those that gave a definate yes I counted. He gave a price that hopfully would not drop anyone. This price would include postage. USA = $31.50 Canada = $32.50 This price does not include the switches nor will it be painted. The switches that I purchased in the picture were from Radio Shack. I will send a PM to all. Please respond with your conformation on this thread.

Thank you Brian for the WA. State Meet & Greet
GolfVenture replied to Miles's topic in Watering Hole
So here are some pictures of Washington's State Meet & Greet. Please excuse some of the slightly blurry pictures. I was one handed and trying to move around and snap pictures. Most came out pretty good. Thanks to KIC who encouraged me to look into buying the VR back from the insurance co. Thanks to Kantornado who lives in Las Vegas. He was my back up plan for he offered to store the VR until I was healthy enought to get the VR. Thanks to MikeWa, GeorgeS, Sleadhed for coming and bringing others. Thanks to Million Mile Rider who encouraged me and got the Meet & Greet started. Also offered to drive down to pick up the VR. Thanks to my good friend Stan & Donna Stanke who took their coach RV and took a side trip to pick up my VR while on their little vacation and then picked me up in Vacaville CA. Thank you all for making this Meet & Greet a success and getting my VR into the garage. As a bonus my brother and wife made a surprise visit from South Korea. Enjoy the pictures and lets make 2013 Washington Meet & Greet Bigger & Better. -
I'm seeing my friend tomorrow who makes these. I'll see if he might commit to a price. So far we have 15 interested. Anyone else want to join in?

"""The policy limit is $3500.00 less your $250.00 deductible.""" Does this mean that the MOST I can receive is $3250.00. Or Does it mean that after the value of the bike is determined with all its accessories then the $250.00 is applied from the total value of the bike. If after the deductable value is subtracted and the value is still greater than $3500.00, then the most I can receive is $3500.00? Any insurance Professionals out there?

Very good thread topic. I will follow this one.

i would have been there with you Mike, had I been home and in good health.

I have one, no cut outs, but I do not know if it is for a MKI or MKII. Nor do I know if it a left or right but in good condition. I just took the chrome handles off of it. Hmmm maybe it is a left being that only the left has chrome handles. But it could be a couple of weeks before I get home. I'll contact you when I get home.

yes, I've submitted a lot of damaged riding gear due to ATGATT.
-
Yea, Dr took the 3 pins out of my thumb and index finger. I'm going to start movement theropy (no strength) next week. Dr said it be several months but I should get close to 90 precent movement back into my fingers and wrist, If I work it. Family has accepted that the real sign of me wanting to ride again is when I start to plan on spending $1000.00 for a complete new set of riding gear. So the salvage buy back is a go. The salvage company said they have equiptment to lift the salvage bike into a trailer.

I finally got my wife in a good way to accept that I may want to ride again. Now my daughter whom we are staying with jumped on my case. She calls m/c donorcycles. The next time I may not walk away from it. I could be bed ridden for life or dead. She kind of put the fear in me. I said for $300.00 I get the fun of moving all the good accessories to my 89 VR. All my m/h buddy is asking me is to fill his gas tank 1 time. My plane fare would cost me about $150.00 for all the extra baggage I would have due to my m/c stuff. Until I buy another helmet, gloves, boots, riding jacket and pants, and kidney belt which would account for about almost $1000.00 that would be the signal that I be serious about riding. I could put a lot of stuff on ebay like the engine, drive shaft, maybe spme exhaust stuff, and miscellanious other stuff. The engine alone would reemburse the salvage cost. Then if I wanted to sell the 89, the 89 would be easier to sell with all those accessories. Besides, I would still want to be a on going member of the Venture Riders for there are good funny jokes, ribbing, pictures of riding, and I can get help and opinions on a whole slew of other topics. Besides, I would love to strip the wrecked 91 VR into all it parts. It would be a learning thing and just plain fun. Besides in 40 years I'd be dead anyway and while I'm living I like to live it up some while I can still live it up. Can't an old guy have some fun. I got her laughing a bit in my ranting.
