  1. Pete: Did you vacume up any actual debree?
  2. I'll check tonight or early tomorrow morning. At work right now and my shift is noon to 8:30 pm.
  3. Started the process of cleaning out the fuel system. So I disconnected the fuel line right before the fuel filter and put an extension to it. Then placed the extension into a gas can. I put the fuel switch arrow up pointing to reserve. Got all the gas out. The gas all looked extremely clean. Put all the gas into my fuel injection car. Is there anything else one can do to clean out the tank of any debree?
  4. It places my marker after I zoomed in. I added the title and text then insert button. Afterwards when I go back to the main link my marker is no longer there.
  5. If I was in the market I'd take this one....
  6. I see that this sold for $124.50. I don't feel so bad now, for that is more than what i paid for mine (new).
  7. Oh great...thats the one I got with a 20% coupon. I'll have to try it soon to make sure it works.
  8. I'm looking for a write up on how to use a digital tach to fine tune the carb sync up process. I read it about a year ago and now can't seem to find where I read it.
  9. Kit you should sing it, record it, then post it. I would offer $2000.00 for starters for each and see where that goes. I bought my 89 VR in June of 2010 for $2500 with 24K miles. It was in nice shape, licensed and run some each year. It came with Chrome Caliper covers, Chrome fairing air intake vents, Markland floor boards, Markland hwyway boards, Ventureline back rest, Chrome side covers. The Chruise Control did not work tho. Tires were probably at 70%. Took it over to Jack(Condor) he synced the cards and I took off for an 800 mile trip home. Ran perfect. It can ve viewed on my profile "1st trip in 27 years" While looking for a parts bike I came across a 91 VR with 6500 miles, in show room condition, origional owner. Never saw a drop of rain, always in a heated garage. he said he ran it yearly a couple times but never took it out for a trip. I synced the carbs and changed all the fluids, ran perfect. It was a Royale with only chrome caliper covers as accessories. I paid $3500 for it. I want to pay only $3000 for it, but he wouldn't come down so I gave him his $3500. George S and MikeWa saw it sand were amazed of its condition. I send the 91 seat to Butler Seat and he did his trick on it. He said that he has not seen any 1st gen seat in such pristine condition. Well the 91 is history for I wrecked it last year. It can be viewed "MyNewToMy91venture" on my profile with a lot of accessories that I moved from the 89 VR. I think that $2000 is a good starting point that is if the 90 runs. But I would probably go with the 89. Good luck...
  10. A member has a list of items to check for when purchasing a 1st Gen. Maybe he will post it. Posting pictures would might get some good response.
  11. I will be doing that also...
  12. Darn...Foiled ....Again...
  13. I sold some parts and put them into a medium flat rate USPS box and took it to the post office. The postal person picked it up and immediately said did you know if you used your own box that rather than paying the flat rate of $12.95 that this package would probably cost just less than $7.00. The package was really light. So I took it home and the next day I opened the box. Found the 1 key seam and with a knife carefully sliced the seamed open. I turned the box inside out and with packaging tape redid the seam really good and strong. Repackaged it and with a black indelible felt pen I blacked all the USPS verbiage that was on the inside indicating this is a USPS flat rate box. Now the outside of the box is brown like a generic brown box with some black marks on it. I addressed it and took it to the post office. Surprisingly it was only $5.80. So I thanked the postal worker who shared this knowledge with me. In our conversation I was told that in a medium flat rate box, that the trade off point is about 10 lbs. Over 10 lbs the flat rate box is a better deal. Less than about 10 lbs, your own box is a better deal. I'll be doing this on a regular basis and weight my packages.
  14. Oops. Well I still paid more for mine on ebay...
  15. I took the set off my wrecked 91VR installed on my 89VR. I paid a lot, lot more for mine than these on ebay.
  16. Brand new and $45.00 plus $10.00 for shipping. Looks like a pretty good deal if your looking for a set. Zero Bids. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Venture-Venture-Royale-Sasddlebag-Lid-Protectors-/121090590512?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c318fc730&vxp=mtr#ht_35wt_1156
  17. I got a set of these. http://www.compacc.com/p/Aeromoto-Corsa-Pro-Gloves?utm_campaign=1736153&utm_content=9152908804&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Emailvision
  18. Well it is 134 miles from Big Pine CA to Beatty NV. And the police officier said I was in the state of Nevada. I'm guessing that I was about 1/3 to 1/2 the way there.
  19. I would like to someday revisit the place of my accident. I last gased up at Big Pine, CA. Then headed East on hwy 168 then connected to hwy 266 then crossed into Nevada. I never reached hwy 95. The picture is of the speedometer. The Trip Odometer is really hard to read. What do you think it reads. I'm guessing that I rode about ruffly an hour.
  20. I had 2 Guardian Bells on when I had my accident back in June of 2012. I was the only rider at that time and only one bell got damaged.
  21. Ok it is a Go to uninstall the 89 Engine and install the 91 engine. Being that the 89 is 24 years old; it is overdue for a through maintenance once over. This has to be a good time to do this. I would like to ask for all your suggestion and parts I should replace like gaskets. So Gary (Dingy) has provided the below advise for starters. Use the 91 ingition unit, much better system.Minnimal harness wiring changes. I can send you the connector you need for the harness side to be able to plug in pickup coil connector. All you should have to do is swap TCI and install new 2 pin connector in place of 6 pin that is on harness now. May have to swap a couple of wires at TCI harness, but I can give you needed changes. Gary. Following are some of the items I thought of. 1) Should I even consider adjusting the valves with only 9500 miles on the engine. 2) If so I would need a head gasket maybe some shims. 3) Exhaust Gaskets at the cylinder. 4) Maybe the exhaust pipe gasket at the mid point 5) I plan to install the solid alum engine mounts. What do I put between the mounts and the frame do to electrical current? 6) New Carb Gasket, Clean the carbs. 7) Bring the shaft and rear end over too. What kind of stuff do I need for that? 8) Bring the rear shock over, 9) The shock air compression over. 10) Where are the cruise control hardware for my 89 cruise lights up but does not work. 11) Thought a complete brake job would be good. Rebuild the calipers.. Your advise greatly appreciated.
  22. I ran into the same situation a few months ago. Have faith in the instruction, oh little grasshopper with little faith.
  23. That would be great Gary. I'll send you a PM. Being that my 89VR is 24 years old and probably could use a good once going through, this would be the right time for any and all maintenance. i could use a list of recommendations:
  24. I've been told the following: "The ignition system changed in '90. Starting in '90 it used a computerized ignition with a single pick up. You're either going to have to use the pick ups from the 89 or use the 91 ignition module and make some adjustments to the wiring harness. " I have a m/c mechanic friends that will help me and let me use his shop. What I'm tring to get a hole of is what does the engine ignition module looks like, where it is at and which is better to use? To use the pick up of the 89 or the 91 computerized ignition module and what specific wiring harness change is required. Has anyone done this before? I want to know all that is involved before engaging on this project.
