  1. Thanks Sky_doc. I bought a new K&N filter and so was cleaning the air box after cleaning the carbs. I will fill it with some Black RTV.
  2. Anyone know why there is this hole in the air box of an MKII. Both my 89 and 91 VR has it.
  3. Ya, I have floor boards on my MKII and the bullet nut on the shifter kept coming loose so I did some medium lock tight and carry a couple of extra nuts and washers.
  4. It is one of his quotes. But I do not know if it went with this picture. But I thought is was appropiate.
  5. You're the 1st person that I've heard of this experience except for me. I thought it was just me. I've tried all variations of combinations and I still would like a slightly softer ride for the small bumps. Unfortunately I wrecked my 91 VR last year. I will soon be trying the progressive on my 89 VR. I've tweeked the installation combination some and so hope to improve the ride. Good luck in selling your set.
  6. Ya and I have a lot of those rabbit trails. I finally did get my K&N air filter. My family hid the package from me as a deterent from me getting my 89 VR ready. Well I hope to get her back together next week and put new gas and fire her up. Oh please run an all 4 cyclinders.
  7. Ya, how about some more details as parts to get and how you did that GaryZ. I want to do that to mine..
  8. I have a Ryobie weed eater , which I bought it new. It Worked for several years. One year I thought that maybe I could tweek the carb to get some more RPMs. Worked for a while. Then it started to get hard to start and when started it would die after some use. Start it then die. I think messing with the Low & HIi needle did it. Any one know what an approximate setting would be for the Low & Hi screw?
  9. Thanks a bunch. Now I can put that recurring question to bed.
  10. I was switching out my empty propane tank and again asked myself why the threads are reversed. Something that has puzzled me all my life. As I was walking into the house to ask this questions a couple of thought came to me.. 1) Because a Left handed person invented the propane tank? 2) Maybe the question I should be asking is why evrything else is threaded reversed. Anyone knows?
  11. Ok, where is the 'twinkie area". I just remembered that I have one of Sky_doc's kits. I need to install it.
  12. Adorn her with $25 grand worth of diamond jewerly and that you bought a jewel for yourself.
  13. Wish I was retired so I could ride just for the fun of the trip. Have a fun and safe trip Miles. Say hi to Jack (Condor).
  14. Sent Paypal, and a prayer to our All Mighty God that the heavens would open up and Blessing be poured upon you and your daughter, Amen...
  15. Well before pulling off the carbs try my suggestion posted earlier. You can also call me. Much easier than pulling the carbs.
  16. I've heard that another thing to consider is to check the width allowed of the vent to the width of the windshield. In some cases I heard that the shield had to be grounded down around the opening to accomodiate the width allowed in the vent.
  17. I’ll have to remember the air blast back thru the overflow tube. But if that does not work this is what I did. After identifying the overflowing carb, I took the brass bolt off the carb bowl. The brass bolt can be seen as you look down where the air cleaner unit was, and on the side of the bowl. Hope you have small hands and long fingers. Removing is pretty easy. You might want to put a towel under the bowl to catch the bolt if you happen to drop it. Now I wanted to spray carb cleaner thru this bolt hole, but the small red extension spray hose that comes with the spray is way too short. Well being that I was also installing some accessories; I was striping some 18 gage wire. Well this wire has a thin clear plastic shield over the rubber colored insulation. Hmmm I thought…. I cut a piece of wire long enough, and then went about trying to pull the rubber colored insulation out from the clear plastic shield. The longer the wire the harder this to do. Once you get it pulling out a ways then the rest is easy. But be careful you do not tear the clear shield. You can actually cut about 1 inch if the shield away from the rubber colored insulation, then start to pull each apart. Attach the long tube to the spray nozzle, the other end into the nut hole. I then sprayed the inside really good. Next I took the bare wire, bent it so that I could poke it into the bolt hole and gently lift the float up and down. Then sprayed more cleaner. Now the tough part. To get the bolt started back in. See the hole on the bowl is slightly curving down, so it is not straight vertical but slanted, making it tough to hold and start the bolt turning. So I took a single strand of wire and looped it around the bolt shaft near the head. Then Lower the wire. The wire kept the bolt near the threads so my fingers only needed to focus on turning the bolt and not also hold the bolt in position. Like I said I hope the blast of air works, for my way takes more time and effort. Wish someone would have suggested the blast of air for me… but on the other hand that bowl is super clean… Good luck...
  18. This my thread from last year. I never did post my solution.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68565 So again I turned to my machinest friend and explained the situation. He machined me 2 sets of washers. One for my 89 and 1 for my 91. No more spring noise. He measure the inside diameter of the spring and the inside diameter of the forks. The picture pretty much explains it. Now had it not been for my machinest friend I would just live with the spring noise for it wasn't all that noisy. But this is just me, I like things perfect when they can be within reason. So being that TinGray also experienced the Progressive Spring Noise I though that there maybe others like you that maybe interest in a group purchase. You are just putting up with the noise. So if you would possible be interested in a group purchase, please indicate so on this thread. Now by posting that you would be interested in a set, by no means are committing to a purchase. Once I get a quantity interest number, I will get a price and then you can commit yes or no. All I need to know is your Qty of interest. Also I can't guarantee this will be your solution. It was just my solution for my particular spring noise. To listen for Spring Noise. Turn your radio off. Open your modular helmet. As you slowly take off or come to a stop, listen for the spring coils rubbing against the sides of the inner forks. I didn't think that would be good.
  19. What wt oil did you use? Did you install the tight coils down or up? What was your oil level? Did you leave the anti dive unit on or use Sky_doc's Block Offs replacement? What inch spacer did you use if any? What approximately would be the drivers weight? The reason I ask these question is because I had a challenging time with my progressive on my 91 VR that I wrecked last year. So now I installed progressive in my 89 VR but have not taken a ride yet, but hope to later this summer. your answer will could help me make some adjustments if I need to. I have a solution for your spring noise that I will post after this posting as a seperate issue.
  20. Could you show a picture of what needs to be repaired.
  21. I maybe able to help you with that. PM me and tell me what you have in mind.
  22. I agree also. While you are at it you should ask sky_doc if the tight coils go in the bottom or at the top. There is a slight advantage to the ride. Only I can't recall which way it was. But I thought the tight coils go at the bottom. But better ask him. I weight 175 lbs and many riders weight much more, which could impact the length of spacer you use. I ended up not using any spacers. Which then caused a noise as the springs compressed and expanded. See the springs then rubbed on the inside of the forks. So I had some special washers machined that would seat inside the spring opening then widen to the diameter of the inner fork so the springs would not rub on the sides of the fork's inside.
  23. I've actually seen one of these, so I'm not sure but the lens looks like a Baron Mini. You might check the specs. http://www.centre-sports.com/Drag-Specialties-BARON-TWIN-AND-BARON-MINI-TWIN-MARKER-LIGHTS-detail.htm?productId=7922788
  24. It just looks like the ones I put in the classified a few days ago. I think the top bullet chrome piece screws off for that chrome bullet piece is an upgraded accessory I ordered. I ordered thinking those were the match to my other 3, but a couple of months later when I went to install them I realized they are different. I fly 5 flags to represent the 4 branches of service my immediate famly served in then there's Old Glory. I lost 2 mounts and flag in my accident last year. I'd like to order the 2 matching ones for my other 3. Maybe you might be interested to displaying a couple more flags. Maybe you might consider making me an offer? http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4596&title=chrome-trunk-flag-mountsstandard-6-26quot-3b-by-9-26quot-3b&cat=10
  25. Yep, I called O'Reilys and they have the K&N spray kit.
