  1. Kirby, Thanks for your post. I have decided that I am going with the BFG 155/80-15. The Idea that it will lower the bike 1" appeals to my short inseam. I have a new Commander II 130 on the front that I really like so far. Everyone running the TA radial seems to really like it. I will give it an honest shot and am really hoping I can make a successful transition to the darkside. Thanks for pointing out some of the quirks to be aware of, it will help me knowing some of what to expect. I was surprised to find that no local shops have either size CT in stock, I'll be ordering one before the weekend. What was your experience when you mounted it up? Did you balance with beads or weights?
  2. Guess I was lied to by the tire shop, they said Cooper made them. Thanks
  3. No, Federal is made by Cooper Tire, most of their plants are in the USA.
  4. What size front tire do you run? What break in procedure did you use for the TA Radial and for how long? What handling differences should I expect having never ridden on the darkside before?
  5. Been considering that one too, my only concern with it is that I've got my forks slid up 3/4" in trees and a 130 commander 2 up front, I know the BFG will lower it another 1" in back and I pull a camper or cargo trailer. Should that be a concern with the handling of the bike? I'd much rather run the BFG if it won't be a problem.
  6. Has anyone run the Federal 165/80-15 on their RSV? Thinking about giving the DS a try and it's the only tire I can find locally.
  7. So,,,, what's your opinion so far on the CT , do you like it?
  8. Thanks for everything so far Donny. Could I ask a favor of you ? Can you get a measurement from the tire to the inside lower lip of the fender. The reason I ask is, I have a Hitch-Doc vertical hitch and want to be sure that a 165/80R15 will fit without hitting the hitch.
  9. Sorry if I missed it, what brand & model is the tire? I'm going to try darkside with my next tire change before heading to Montana.
  10. I had an E3 do the same thing. The tire was just getting to the wear bar when I left on a 650 mile round trip ride, by the time I got to my destination it looked almost as bad as your's. I now swap em out when I see it nearing the wear bars. Getting a few more $$ out of a tire is just not worth it. Can you post a picture of that VW tire mounted up?
  11. You are still with us and that's the fact that matters most. We hope you heal up fast Dan. You've heard it before but I'll say it again, listen to the doc's , don't try and rush it.
  12. Come on Puc,,,, you know a Yamaha venture is a snowmobile.
  13. Don't worry too much when you put the new seal in, it will leak a little till you get the cover back on to support the outer end of the shaft.
  14. John, I think he planned it for Thursday because he knew we wouldn't be able to come and What you think?
  15. I run 40 psi in front.
  16. you know what they say,,,, no pics, it didn't happen!
  17. I have the CII on the front and rode in an absolute gully washer on the way home from Don's last weekend, pulling a trailer and never felt it lose traction.

  22. I guess I broke the camera so I'll say it here. GET WELL FAST DAN! Instead of sliding the tubes up in the trees we'll have to add that 3rd wheel.
