  1. Here are a few of the vistas you will be treated to while riding the Beartooth. I'll be back there at the end of this month for 10 more days. http://a.imageshack.us/img22/3526/montana809jayscam255.jpg http://a.imageshack.us/img193/7973/montana809jayscam249.jpg http://a.imageshack.us/img10/3482/montana809jayscam147.jpg http://a.imageshack.us/img121/6110/montana809jayscam043.jpg http://a.imageshack.us/img121/553/montana809jayscam146.jpg
  2. Thanks to everyone who responded to my question about high altitude riding. I'm glad I won't have to mess with the carbs. I have to agree with everyone, the Beartooth is an awesome ride. When we were there last year the road was under construction and a good portion of it was gravel, it should be alot more fun this year, with some good blacktop.
  3. While we're talking about The Beartooth pass, How will a stock jetted '01 RSV do at the 11,000 foot summit ? Will re-jetting be needed because of the thin air? I don't want any problems up there with my wife on the back.
  4. What they said + If you get to Thermopilis be sure and ride Wind River Canyon. Go south out of Yellowstone and down to Jackson Hole, Wy. to see and ride thru The Teton mt. range. We are going to be in the area Aug 27- Sept. 7 then north to Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Spearfish, Sturgis.
  5. We are going to Bedford Sunday night to work 1 day there then down to Tell City either Mon. night or Tues. We'll be in Tell City the rest of the week, working at the Wal-Mart in town converting the Kids fun center into a cell phone store. We will try to ride a different route everyday after work. If you need an excuse to ride, stop by the store or call if you have time.
  6. I'll be going down to tell City for work and will be bringing the RSV. Anyone from the area there that can suggest some good roads to ride in the area? Also, good eats?
  7. Bought a set last week, installed them today. Simple install. I marked the location on the floorboard bracket with a scribe then removed the brackets to drill them, 1.5 hours start to finish. I didn't want to risk scratching any chrome by drilling them in place. Thanks Larry Jay
  8. Hello everyone, Figured my first post should contribute, so I hope this is something new. I didn't see anything similar here. I just bought an 01 RSV and my first addition is Sirius Satellite Radio, here's how I mounted it. Being one to use what's available rather than buy, if possible. I used parts of the suction cup mount that came with the reciever. I'll post some pics and if you have questions I'd be happy to answer them. Jay
  9. I have E3's on my ride now and am not all that impressed with the handling or noise. I have seen that dvd before, lots of great tips and tricks. If I can't shoot sparks off the floorboards then I may as well ride a Schwinn .
  10. Thanks for the tips everyone, after I posted I found lots of info on the forums talking about my concerns. I'll be looking at the bike soon.
  11. Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I hope i'm posting this in the proper spot. I am considering the purchase of a '99 RSV that has 18K on the clock. My first concern is the seat height of the RSV. I am 5' 7" and am wondering if I'll be able to handle the bike? Are there any other vertically challenged Venture riders out there that can give me some insight about this ? I have owned many Yamaha snowmobiles and they have all served me well. Figured it was time to try their 2 wheelers. Thanks, Jay
