That's what I figured. I have a bottle of dye in the garage, I'll put some in. Thanks -
A different coolant leak

I'll pop the tank off for a look around. I could not see any tracking coming from up there, you think you'd see some signs. Will the blacklight show the coolant without adding a dye to the system? Thanks for the offer, If need be I will call. How could the leak be up that high but not show any signs of a coolant stream that are visible ? Thanks to all for the suggestions. I'll report back with my findings. -
A different coolant leak

Thanks for the suggestions Ruffy. Guess I'll just have to start digging into it. -
I have read all the posts about the plugs behind the fins. I pulled the fins to check the plugs and found none of them to be leaking. The drip just started as the cold weather set in, It drips just behind the kickstand pivot. The puddle is the size of a silver dollar after 24 hours. This on an '01 RSV 40K on the odo. So if it's not the cylinder plugs what else might it be? I see no seepage around the head gaskets or anywhere on top of the motor. Inspection with a mirror and flashlight of the underside of the motor shows it dripping off the shift rod, but I can't tell where it's coming from. The reserve tank is at the proper level. No overheating problems. My last few rides have been in temps of 25 to 40 degrees. I need to get this fixed before Thursday, as a pgr member we provide the parking guides for the veterans day service at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Thanks for clearing that up. Lord knows we should not neglect our pumpkins, especially at this time of year.

Imagine seeing this on a bike in Yellowstone
ragtop69gs replied to friesman's topic in Watering Hole
Those are some fantastic pictures. We got lucky back in August while we were in Yellowstone, Saw a mama griz and 2 cubs walking on a ledge about 30 yards from us. I had just put the camera back in the saddlebag We had snow then also, they had the south entrance closed till mid day, delayed our ride down to Jackson Hole by a few hours. -
Please thank your son for his service and dedication to his country.

Now that looks like it would be all kinds of fun. I have rode the old Chrysler Sno-Scoots, they are fun, but nowhere near the power a modern enduro puts out.

I wish your father the best. Praying for a full recovery. Thank god they found the aneurysm, I lost my grandfather and 2 uncles to them. It is a heredity thing, I get checked for it every other year, you should too.

Up here in Michigan, they stopped putting those stickers anywhere near your line of sight , after a few places got sued for causing an accident. Seems the sticker caused the driver to crash, so the defendant had to pay

Tab Broke on Lower
ragtop69gs replied to sadicarnot's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Same one broke on my 01 . I also glued it back on with an ABS glue then reinforced the repair with a liquid 2 part epoxy. So far it's holding up well. -
An elderly, Jewish man named Mr. Steinfeld lived in a nursing home. One day he was walking slowly down the hallway with his head down. One of the nurses saw this and asked "Mr. Steinfeld, is everything alright?" Mr. Steinfeld replied "No darling, my penis died today." Shocked, the nurse replied "I'm sorry to hear that." Mr. Steinfeld proceeded to walk slowly with his head down back to his room. The next day the same nurse saw Mr. Steinfeld walking down the hallway, but this time his pants were unzipped and his penis was hanging out. The nurse asked "Mr. Steinfeld, I thought your penis died?" Mr. Steinfeld replied "That was yesterday, today is the viewing."

That's the truth ! I did a U-turn up to a pump once, thinking there was a puddle of water, that turned out to be diesel, my front tire hits it and the next thing I know I'm standing there and the bike's layin on it's side next to the pump:confused24: Happened so quick it took a second to realize what had happened.

We were in yellowstone 2 weeks ago and encountered just about every type of weather. Sun, rain, snow and sleet. The south entrance was closed for about 6 hours because of snow. By mid morning it had reopened and we continued on to Jackson Hole. If you are considering going to Thermopolis be aware that US 26/287 is under construction somewhere between Dubois and Riverton and is dirt/mud/rocks for about 6 miles. If it's been raining it's treacherous, many bikes went down the day before we went through. Be careful around the Bison, they are in rut and can be unpredictable. If you get over the Beartooth be careful on 212 North of Red Lodge, the deer are as thick as flies. Have a great time.

They both ran off I had to rough it and eat at the Steak house. We were on the way to dinner when we hit the deer, it was an expensive meal, all told. I sure hope I don't hunt any more critters with the scoot.

Deadwood is in a beautiful location. If you like bars and casinos it's a nice place to stop.

It's been fun so far. Yesterday we went thru Spearfish, Deadwood and Sturgis, spent the night in Custer StatePark. Today we saw the Crazy Horse memorial, Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands and Wall Drug. Spending the night in Wall. Tomorrow we High Tail it for home. Almost 3 weeks on the road, I'm ready for a night in my own bed.

Really close call with a deer tonight
ragtop69gs replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
I hit one on US 212 just outside Red Lodge, Mt. Friday night. Minor damage to the RSV. A buckled front fender and turn signal trim ring and visor. Hard on the brake and swerved so I only got the rear leg of the deer "WHEW" . The wife and I are OK, so is the deer. -
Just finished a 1250 mile trip over the Beartooth pass, through Yellowstone, down to Jackson Hole then through Wind River Canyon, over the Beartooth pass and back to Roberts, Montana. I hardly knew the trailer was behind the bike ! We encountered rain, wind, sleet and snow, never once did I feel uncomfortable about the trailer being behind me. I did have several encounters with the wild life of the area. First we hit a groundhog that ran into our path on the way up Beartooth, BUMP, no chance to avoid it. Then 4 days later we hit a Deer that darted out of the bush on US 212 just north of Red Lodge! Buckled my front fender and the turn signal trim ring and visor are now the property of a Montana ditch. We were only going about 10 mph at impact so I was able to swerve and only hit it's rear hoof. Kept the bike up,but , I do have a head injury from the wife slapping the back of my helmet repeatedly, Lol . If it were not for the increased stopping distance caused by the additional weight of the trailer we would have missed it completely. Yes the deer is fine. Can't wait for the next trip.

I joined the national before each state started their own "state" web forum. If you joined the national you are by default a PGR member of the PGR in your state. Weather you join your state's web forum or not, you are a member of the PGR. The benefit of being a Registered member of your states forum is that it's easier for you to find out about missions within your area, state and surrounding states. Indiana has a great group of state leaders. I am from Michigan, but have been on several missions " south of the border". It is both exhilirating and emotionally draining at times, but, never have any doubt about it being the "Right thing to Do" . As far as flags and stickers or banners go, fly what you want. If in doubt at any time just ask any RC, they will be happy to advise you on protocol.

I'll try and fit in the rides you mentioned. We passed the Locks twice, even turned around and went up the senic overlook to get a better view but when we saw that we had to walk out to see them, we just kept riding, it was too darn hot and humid for a walk . I'd love to get a close up and brief lesson on how it all works, Thanks for the offer. If I do go back it will be the 8th or 9th.

I'm home now, but, we will mosy likely be back in 2 weeks to finish Tell City and Bedford. I still have to ride 150, several people recommended it and 37 south of Bedford, to, Paioli (sp)?
