RSV-Hannigan Trike fender-light bar clearance
ragtop69gs replied to First_N_Last's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
We have 2 RSV's , my '01 2 wheeler and my wife's '08 Hannigan. The trike has the ez steer and it sets almost identical to mine. The top clamp has Hannigan engraved in it and the fork tubes are flush with the top surface of the top clamp. I have the rear coil overs set to the middle setting and the neck bearing torqued to 43 pd/ft, both made a world of difference in the way the bike handles. When we got the trike the rear shock was too soft and the neck bearing was way too loose and the tire pressures were all low and different, the bike was squirrelly and un-predictable handling, now it handles like a corvette in the curves. I would suspect that the vibration was from the wheel twisting to the side while on the brakes or the fork tube shaking in the clamps. The folks I bought ours from didn't have a clue and thought there was a major flaw because of the way it handled, which is why I got it for the price I did.- 47 replies

RSV-Hannigan Trike fender-light bar clearance
ragtop69gs replied to First_N_Last's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
Makes total sense to replace the springs at this point. Also check for internal damage to the right fork. Seems to me that should have been obvious when sitting on the bike. You had no strange handling with it like that? I can feel it when my forks are not inflated to the same pressure. When and where was the conversion done? I'd be talking with whoever did the conversion. I Got my fingers crossed that you don't find any stripped fasteners. Does that top clamp have Hannigan engraved in it? Good luck- 47 replies

Fuel Leak - more like a drip
ragtop69gs replied to pjm123a's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It's the crankcase breather. That is not where the leak is, if you look above ,you'll see the carbs, that is where you'll find the leak. May be a bad gasket, high float level, bad fuel line. you will have to do a little investigating to find the source. -

At a wine merchant's warehouse the regular taster died, and the director started looking for a new one to hire. A retired Chief Petty Officer, drunk and with a ragged dirty look, came to apply for the position. The director wondered how to send him away. They gave him a glass of wine to taste. The old Chief tried it and said, "It's a Muscat three years old, grown on a north slope, matured in steel containers. Low grade but acceptable." "That's correct," said the boss. "Another glass, please. After tasting the wine, the Chief declared, " a cabernet, eight years old, south-western slope, oak barrels, matured at eight degrees. Requires three more years for finest results." "Absolutely correct. A third glass." ''It's a pinot blanc champagne, high grade and exclusive,'' calmly said the drunk. The director was astonished and winked at his secretary to suggest something. She left the room and came back in with a glass of urine. The old Navy Chief tried it. "It's a blonde, 26 years old, three months pregnant, and if I don't get the job, I'll name the father."

Alternatives for passing lights
ragtop69gs replied to PERM44's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Take a look at THIS site. Lots of solutions and choices. -
V7Goose has a post somewhere about grip heaters he made, that work much better than the grip heaters you want to use. a search should bring up his post.

Alternatives for passing lights
ragtop69gs replied to PERM44's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Being that it's a work lamp, would it be suitable to use as a driving light ? I'm afraid it would blind oncoming traffic. I hate it when every opposing vehicle flashes their brights at you. -
New to me RSV-Hannigan Trike Check-Setup_Mod
ragtop69gs replied to First_N_Last's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
Maybe they have softened there stance on it then. That is why I can't say enough good things about Hannigan Motorsports. They are a class act.:clap2: -
CAUTION Using both SeaFoam and STA-BIL will cause old age and an overweight condition Combining both should be avoided at all costs!

Yes you can do both Joe, you call marvin from your cell, have check direct deposited to a Mich. bank. You may be able to get some compensation for your job search out of state too. The company didn't contest your claim so you are in the clear with them. The only way they can screw you now is if they claim they offered you new employment and you turned it down. Since you are looking for a job, How are ya with a snow shovel? my drive will be buried soon enough .

Talk about getting away with murder! If she'd have used a gun with the same result would they have just slapped her hand. The whole local motorcycling community should be camped on the steps of that courthouse demanding justice for Jana. I guess drunk driving in Canada has no penalty, and killing someone while drunk makes it ok to do both

New to me RSV-Hannigan Trike Check-Setup_Mod
ragtop69gs replied to First_N_Last's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
The free upgrade is on bikes converted within a 3 month span in late 2009 thru early 2010 is what I was told, and only applies to bikes built with the mismatched pad and rotor combination. WMMV -

Don't be so quick to blame the cracks in the rubber manifolds. My '01 RSV manifolds looked terrible, DEEP/Wide cracks on all 4. When I did my valve check last spring I replaced all 4. I cut the worst one in half just to see and none of the cracks were all of the way through. The Venture uses an enrichener not a choke (butterfly) . Look at this fiche view, it may help you to narrow your search. http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26/Type/CARBURETOR_/MakeID/4/Make/Yamaha/YearID/47/Year/2006/ModelID/1677/Model/XVZ13TFV_ROYAL_STAR_VENTURE/GroupID/340482/Group/CARBURETOR_

Install a carb heater cutoff switch, it will free up some needed electrons. LED lighting will also help. There is a how-to somewhere on the forum, a search should bring it up for you. Sorry to hear of your RSTD's demise, glad you're still here to talk about it.

These are yamaha pieces that are on my bike, I have Chucks on jeannies bike, you can't tell the difference to look at them. I think Chucks are better because they are Stainless not chrome, rust will never be a problem with Chucks.
