  8. Hello: I purchased an RSTD instead of a RSV. It fit me better on the showroom floor. I really like it, but I later discovered I liked having a hard trunk. I chose to install a hard trunk on my RSTD and I am really happy with it. I could switch back to my stock backrest if I wished to do so. I suppose I could do it in one hour? In my opinion probably easier to swap back and forth on a RSTD rather than an RSV.
  9. Sorry to hear about your restored 1st Gen. I have had to deal with insurance companies on my bikes twice in 30 years. I felt like I got screwed the first time (Dairy Land Insurance). My current insurance provider is Farm Bureau. They picked up the tab on fire damage earlier this season. I was very pleased. Your settlement figure sounded like a very good one to me. Keep us posted and thanks for sharing.

  17. Hello Everyone: When I first joined this site almost two years ago there were no other local members. The closest member was Zfrebird4 in Fort Collins CO. about 150 miles away. We have have spoken and emailed several times since that time, but did not meet until this weekend. Our schedules finally meshed. We rode over to Fort Collins on Saturday, had a nice lunch with Jack and he then led us the back way around Horse Tooth lake to Loveland where Lee and I stayed the night. We met up again on Sunday around noon. Jack led us to Estes Park, Lyons, Longmont and back to Fort Collins. Jack is riding Squidley's former 86 Venture Royale, what a nice bike!! We headed back home to Western Nebraska with more VR memories. Thanks Jack

  22. Hello: I mounted a Harley Tour pack on my RSTD this season. I drilled new holes in the bottom of the tour pack to match the holes in my Wompus rack. I then installed rubber washers about 3/4" thick to make up for the gap between the two. Worked great. My wife and I really like the tour pack.
  23. Thanks for the update. We think of David and Kathy often. Prayers continuing.
