Hello: When I purchased my 05 RSTD, the remaining warranty interested me and gave me piece of mind. I had never spent that much money on a motorcycle before. But now after owning a Yamaha and discovering how reliable they are. I think I would lean towards the 2000 model. It will do just as much as the 2007. Save the difference and take a memorable trip!!!!! Not going to go wrong either way. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Hello Everyone: It has only been a few weeks since we decided to purchase the Nissan Murano. So far I am very pleased with it. It finally snowed here. The Murano is sure footed as a mountain goat. Very fast if you need it to be. Very comfortable. 22 MPG on the last tank of fuel. Thanks again for everyone's input...Mark

Hello Pete: Welcome to the site. This site makes owning a motorcycle so much fun!!! I purchased a used 05 RSTD for several reasons. It still had more than a year of warranty left at the time. It fit my 30" inseam, had cruise control and my wife liked it more than I did. I have had to make modifications to get the bike comfortable for my frame. Windshield, Seat and Handlebars. 3 years and 15K miles later, I like the bike more everytime I ride it. In my humble opion (IMHO) if you are traveling two up, I would reccomend at least a 1300 CC machine. Maybe even bigger depending on the the size of the rider and passenger. Keep us posted!

Spare Fuel for long Trip
Phoneman1981 replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hello: This has been discussed on previous posts. Serveral good suggestions came up. My son in law is a wildland firefighter. He turned me on to " Sig" bottles. Small fuel bottles that they carry in their back packs. Bright RED and labeled FUEL. I have been carrying two 20 oz. bottles (One in each saddle bag) for the past two years with no issues. I have never had to use them on the bike yet. I keep them fresh by using them on the lawn mower and filling them at home from the lawn mower gas can. Filling them at a commercial pump is a little difficult with the forced delivery, usually end up making a mess! Having spare fuel even if it is only 40 ounces gives me piece of mind to know that I should have enough to help myself or another biker should the need arise. Keep us posted on your trip. Besure to let me know if you pass this way. -
Hello Rod: Thanks for sharing. You are admired for stopping to help and do what you could for the injured. I too have found my self the exact situation two times in the last 30 years as I travel around on telephone service calls. A few years ago I witnessed a semi truck blow over right in front of my eyes. Slid to a stop within a few feet of me on a rural highway. Driver was seriously hurt. I called 911. Truck was still running, smoke, spilled diesel and 70 mph winds made it interesting. It took two other motorists and myself to open the sky side door in order for me to drop down into the cab, stop the engine and render first aid. Last year I came upon an 80 year old lady who had fallen asleep, crossed the center line and crashed in a corn field in the dead of winter. She was walking around dazed. I called for help, rendered aid and contacted her children for her. I was later informed that she suffered a broken neck, but made a full recovery. I was happy to have a first aid kit, emergency blanket and some years old first aid training. One never knows when these things are going to occur.

Hello Everyone: I was able to get in a 50 mile winter ride yesterday. Dry roads and 42 degrees. I reflected back on my improvements this past season that have really made my cycling experience much nicer. Using my DroidX cell phone in Otterbox Defender case is a much welcomed improvement. Bluetoothed to my Nolan N103 helment gives me freedom to ride even when I am "On Call", something that I was always scared to do before, afraid I would miss an important callout. Adding a 12v accessory plug allows me power to my cell now. No more "low Battery indicators". Using a GPS program on my cell phone has given me a precise easy to READ "Speed" indicator. I always felt uneasy riding with my stock speedometer, knowing that it was 8 miles per hour off. Little improvements that have made a big difference for me.

Thanks again everyone for your input and support. After continuing our search for a few more days, we still decided to go with the Nissan Murano afterall. We liked it the best. The dealer treated us well. Allowed us to drive everything on the lot, kept them overnight, no pressure. Hauled my elderly father home from the hospital, 50 mile ride on heated leather, comfortable and easy for him to get in and out. Yes Dan, Lee agreed that rather than spend $800 in fuel to haul our bikes to Texas in March, that we can drive the Murano. Hoping to meet as many members as possible. The bikes are fun but the socializing is the best part!!!

Hello Dan: Very happy for you and Charlene. You have both worked hard all of your lives and deserve a break from the hard farm life, constant chores etc. Now the farm can take care of you!!!! I am so thankful that this very website has helped create such a great friendship between us. Lee and I will be facing the exact dilemma in the future. Town living will allow you to ride a lot more, something that I know you love to do. You are welcome to use my enclosed trailer if you need it.

Thank you everyone for your input. It means a lot to us. We are still test driving the vehicle. Close to making a decison. Thanks again....Mark:)

Hello: I also have a Otterbox Defender case to protect my DroidX. The spring clip on mine broke before the one year warranty. I called them, they asked for that tiny serial number and shipped me not one but TWO new belt clips. Exceeded my expectations also.
