Glad no one was hurt badly. It can happen to any of us at any time. However the video might be a bit comical?? Might make some money for you? Take care.

Congrats to you both!!!! -
Hello Everyone: Before finding this forum. I trusted dealers to maintain my bike. I soon learned that everyone including me can make a mistake. During on out of town trip another dealer replaced my rear brake pads and inspected my front pads. Mechanic must have forgot to tighten the front caliper bolts. I got about 30 miles down the road when I began to notice an unfamiliar chattering sound in the front end. I pulled into the parking lot of a mini mart and discovered the lower bolt completely missing and the upper bolt almost out. Thanks to the reflector it could not fall out. It was now after their closing hours, dark and 200 miles from home. I tightened the upper bolt and rode slow to my motel room. Contacted the dealer the next day and they apologized and fixed me up new bolts. After this incident I work on my own bike a lot more. So much to learn from the members of this site.

Trailer the bike.
Phoneman1981 replied to irbk's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Lots of good advice from the other members. I too prefer fair weather if at all possible. I plan my rides carefully. I have tried the Harbor Frieght chocks with the ride in cradle and the eye bolts to tie to in my shop. However I felt it was very hard to get the bike out of the cradle. I tried adjusting the cradle several times. Finally drilled additional adjustment holes to make it better. I suggest that you test out the chock before you mount it to the trailer. Loading a bike on a trailer can be tricky depending on the trailer. I would not trust just any trailer to haul a 900 lb bike. I shy away from single axle trailers unless they have large diameter tires. I see why enclosed tandem axle trailers are the best choice. The U-Haul Trailer and the suggestion to remove the windshield are great suggestions. Good luck. -
One of the best mods I have made. Rick is great....

Armando: Many others before me have lowered the RSTD's in the rear only. Some have lowered the front's also, but from what I have read the most you can gain is 1/2-3/4 of an inch on the RSTD's. I hope this helps. Maybe others will chime in.....

Hello Everyone: Although we have had a few nice days this winter and spring, yesterday was by far the nicest day yet. A couple of benefit rides were planned yesterday, but we did not attend either of those as I had to be back to DJ an after branding dance. Stuck out on our lonesome. Took the wife shopping on the bike instead!!! Rode to the famous "Pink Palace" in McGrew Nebraska for a burger at lunch time and then on down the Oregon Trail past historic "Chimney Rock for an enjoyable ride. Later in the afternoon we loaded the DJ equipment in the car and headed for the dance. Great turnout called it a night about 11:30 and headed back home. One of our Canadian members here on the site is also a facebook friend. This "un named" member saw my dance invite yesterday and suggested we might incorporate a dance into in International Rally, but then had second thoughts considering that not everyone brings their wives or girlfriends to the event. He indicated he was not quite sure if he could handle the possiblility of say Condor and LoneEagle doing the two step together!!!!

Cut the heel toe and made just a toe shifter
Phoneman1981 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
I have small feet but suffer from heal pain. Being able to place my the toe of my shoe on the RH floor board and stretch my arch feels good. But the heal shifter on the LH side does not allow for that. I have weened my self from using the heal shifter. I purchased a used heal toe shifter off of ebay. It was damaged in a wreck. Front part is straight, rear part is twisted. I plan on cutting the heal shifter off and using it. Keeping my original shifter in case I do not like it. -
Hello Brad: Kudos to your family for caring for the puppies. Our 7 year old Grandson wants a puppy. So I purchased him an air line ticket he is scheduled to arrive at your house this evening.

Steve: Thanks for the heads up about the curves. I got a few more miles on solo this afternoon with a few curves with no issues. My wife joined me after work. With the extra 130lbs I like the stabililty and comfort even more. I did however bottom out slightly when I entered a parking lot. More testing to follow tommorrow. Calling for the 80's. Benefit ride for the local Eagles lodge.

Thanks for the update James. Good news about your helmet. Loss is hard, but do not fall in love with anything that cannot love you back. New things, new memories.

Hello: Patrolman46 and I both ordered the Baron's rear lowering kits. I did not take any before and after measurements of my bike, but If I remember correctly the lowering kit on Dan's RSTD bike made 1 1/4" improvement. My heals are no longer 1 1/2" off of the ground. We did need to adjust the head lights after the installation. Lights were shining a bit high. The rear kits cost approx. $ 170 and the shop labor was $150. We were both pleased. Nice modification. I hope this helps?

Hello Everyone: After having first hand experience with Patrolman46's lowered RSTD a few weeks ago, I decided to have the modification done to mine also. Just as with Dan's I am really impressed. Took it our for a spin tonight. So much nicer to mount and dismount. I now feel like I sit IN the seat rather than sit ON the seat. My feet swing up easy to the floorboards, I no longer feel like I have to PICK UP my feet at the knees. The lower center of gravity really helps on the slow speed handling. Stopping is so much more comfortable. I now wish I had installed this modification sooner than later. So blessed to have the advice of my extended family on this site. First nice weekend of the 2013 season will arrive this weekend. I am so ready!!!!!
