  1. Black Owl: You gave me my first laugh of the morning!!!!! Thanks:)
  2. A few months ago Patrolman46 and I were traveling in his pickup south of Torrington WY. We stopped to help and elderly couple pulling a trailer. They had tire trouble. Very hot day. Dan was well prepared. Floor Jacks, Air tank, 18v Dewalt impact. We had them on the road again in less than 30 minutes. Several vehicles passed by and luckily we did not need them to stop. However one lone biker slowed down and motioned for a status. I gave him the thumbs up and he continued on his way. Made me feel good that someone else made an attempt to stop, especially a biker.
  3. Hello Dave: Before I added the Harley Tour pack to our RSTD, we used a Kuryakn T Bag. It attached to the backrest with large velcro belt. Surprising how much we could pack in it. I reccomend purchasing several of the spider web type cargo nets also. What you cant get in the bag can go on top or around the sides if properly latched down. The cargo nets can be hooked together if one net is not large enough. I prefer them over single bungee type straps. I always placed a garbage bag inside before packing and carried an extra garbage bag as an emerency rain cover for the T-Bag. The OEM rain cover never would fit after we overpacked at times. I hope this helps.

  16. Hello Dave: Before I purchased a rack for my rstd. I rolled up a dark towel and placed it on the fender between the license plate and back rest. I then strapped a Kuryakn T bag to my backrest and let it rest on the towel. It worked fine until I decided to purchase a rack. Enjoy your trip. Keep us posted...
  17. Thanks for sharing. It is a reminder for us all to create an escape route.
  18. Glad you were not seriously injured. Good luck on finding the replacement. Things could have been worse. Keep us posted.
  19. I met another phone tech a few months ago. Got to visiting. Discovered he rode an FJR. Great big guy. Surprized me. He invited me to his home in Johnson Siding SD during Sturgis. I called him a few days before departing for the Black Hills. I met up with him and his wife. They had a very nice place. I noticed he was running a car tire on the rear of his FJR. He spoke very highly of the CT on his FJR. Just thought I would pass this info along.
  20. Jerry: Since you have limited access to a computer. Call the number in my profile and leave me a good contact number for you or your friend...Mark
  21. I live 230 miles south of Sturgis. I have a trailer and pickup. I would be willing to help. Would a trailer relay be possible. I could trailer the bike at least part way if someone else could take the bike on further east? Just thinking of all possibilities.
  22. We enjoyed another partial day of riding before leaving. Stopped and met a couple of other Venture and RSTD owners. Invited them to join this wonderful group. Actually had 3 RSTD's and one 1100 VSTAR parked beside one another at the Blue Bell Store just before noon.
  23. Hello: I just saw this post tonight after riding most all day to get home from the Black Hills. I have friend that lives in Whitewood SD just west of Sturgis that might be able to help store the bike? Wish I were going to the WNY rally. Let me know if you need further help.
