  1. I'm going to take Annie to see more sights this weekend...hopefully the rain will oblige me. After that, who would like to take Annie on the next stop? I'll have to mail her.
  2. Hubby has confirmed we will be attempting to go to this, However due to the nature of my inlaws driveway it's unlikely we will get the free housing we would have if we showed up there. We couldn't get bikes up that steep driveway! So we'll either be camping or in a hotel room.
  3. How do y'all feel the natural and economic crisis in Japan will affect the bike market in the the coming weeks and months?
  4. I live down below Macon, had I not already planned a memorial ride for my friend Valerie who passed in November, hubby and I would happily tag along in the car. Maybe next time though!
  5. If you guys want to see what the weather was like over the weekend here in Central Georgia walk on over to the Annie Sightings thread and see how the hubby and I braved the rain to show Annie the sights here.
  6. Would the pillow and monkey butt powder be for me or Annie?
  7. The felines of the house are well behaved critters. None of them had seen a koala before, so they were a bit confused about what to do with a koala. Dante, the resident lab mix however saw the Annie Koala as a new toy to play with. However Annie has a safe perch to rest on, away from Dante. As StormRaven pointed out, tomorrow we take Annie to Helen Georgia. Btw, How does Annie like horseback riding?
  8. I'm not a smoker, tho I nic from time to time. Both of my parents however were heavy smokers. Dad smoking unfiltered Pall Malls til the day he quit in '88. He was having a heart attack and wanted one last cig on the way to the hospital so Mom drove him there (was faster than the ambulance anyway) Dad passed away in 97 from cancer of the adrenal glands at the age of 76. Mom however didn't stop smoking until she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 96 and lost most of her left lung to it. When hubby wanted to take up the habit a few years ago he talked to me about it first, thank god. He was having trouble with wanting to fit in with our peers, most of which smoked and were 2+/day smokers, so they always had a cig in hand. I gave him an alternative to that in taking up pipe smoking (tobacco) since it is a much more relaxed habit than cigs and he was less likely to get addicted if it was kept as a casual habit. When he's working, he'll have a smoke after he comes in from work as his way of winding down the day. When he's not working, like now since he's still officially on worker's comp, he might go months between smokes. he goes to the pipe shop in town and buys an oz of pipe tobacco for less than $2 and if he smoked 1 pipe/day that will last him a month. I'm blessed in the knowledge that I was able to steer him away from an expensive addiction to a manageable habit. I hope you stay cig free and get improved health from quitting. We are hoping our roomie can soon toss the cigs as well, but with everything he's going through, I don't think he's ready.
  9. Was this the entire series or just one of the releases? I can't remember just now.
  10. I was just curious, in the past I have been put on the spot to ride, so wasn't any prep for keeping my hair from getting snarled up. I've seen similar things to the hair sleeves. So I'll keep looking. But when I told hubby today he's going to be french braid my hair again he said choice words I can't repeat here.
  11. There was a discussion on my profile yesterday about the WBC (I didn't start it) but some of my friends locally had wanted for a long time to join the PG, but like many ppl thought it was reserved for bikers only. I told them to contact the State Captain and find out how they could help the PG in their own way.
  12. Annie made the trip safely courtesy of USPS.....She's been introduced to the fur members of the household with less than enthusiastic responses....pictures coming soon.
  13. I have a question for you ladies. What is the best way to wear long hair while riding? I have long hair past my shoulders and in the past I've not been overly concerned with how my hair is after I take off the helmet. But soon it will be a near daily thing to be on a bike. I've seen those skullcaps with attached ponytail holders on different leather and biker sites. I personally can't french braid my hair, but sometimes Hubby will do it for me. Anyway, I wanted ideas.
  14. I signed up today to be a member of the Patriot Guard. After All they made my friend Valerie's funeral better.
  15. LOL Annie if your counterpart is a good girl I'll take pics of her on hubby's soon to be new bike (when he decides to get one) and let her get the first ride on the bike before me. Aren't I sweet?
  16. I'm there but can't see messages in the room...but pms work!
  17. I only see 2 of us...sheesh...pathetic
  18. I'm there....been noticing this alot lately...
  19. That's an absolutely fabulous dog. My roomie's lab mix is the sweetest dog but has severe anxiety with other dogs around. On good weather days I walk the Dante boy around the neighborhood. Well....one day in November right after roomie's wife passed away and he was out of state burying her I was out walking Dante. I was still in the neighborhood a few streets behind the house when a guy was in his front yard playing with his boxers. The boxer pair saw us before the guy did and proceed to run at us at full speed ready to attack, Dante being the great dog he is put himself between me and the dogs. Thankfully I was able to get the boxers to heel and stay before injuries happened but what has in timidness makes up in heart. He was willing to put himself in harm's way for his walker, and in my book is deserving of any reward he wants I can give.
  20. True, Vogel is always pretty we just figured when his parents learn he's on a bike we'll be in the doghouse again lol...so we'll need a place to stay if that happens next visit lol
  21. This is sad news, hubby and I had planned on stopping there later this year since they were so close to his parents' place we could camp out and enjoy the Blairsville area no problem.
  22. Wish I could make it but next month definitely! tho will be in a cage.
  23. If you want to mail Annie to me I can take her to see the sights and sounds around Middle Georgia...things like the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon GA run March 18th-27th. There's also the Museum of Aviation here in Warner Robins GA is always a fantastic thing to see and take pics of as well. Then I'll pass her along to someone when she gets done visiting the sights here...whatcha think?
  24. I knit, learning how to crochet, cook, build computers, car repairs on my caprice...think that's enough for now
  25. I've never owned a truck, that being said my family has been primarily a GM family since I was little. My Dad own 2 70's model custom deluxe at the same time, both were great trucks too insofar as I know. we had a Ford station wagon that had no working ac for the life of the car and the windows wouldn't roll down either. Later we had a couple of custom vans and a few olds in the garage. When I married hubby, I had an 84 cutlass ciera (in 2001) he has an 84 and 86 s-10 Blazer. Both had anemic 2.8 V8 engines that just couldn't keep up with the demands of the crazy driving locally and eventually died. We did buy a chevy caprice in 2001 and while it's seeing some age now the only major repair we've had with it was replacing the leds in the digital dash 2 years ago. For us it has been the car of our dreams in that beyond basic maintenance it's needed very little work. My Father in law swears by Chevy and GMC for all his vehicles, he does have a towncar he intended on making a project car a few years ago but gave up because he was throwing more money into it to restore it than he'd see in return.
