Kirby says he can store it at his place, however I'm sure someone from FL can jump in and maybe take it the rest of the way.

I'm updating this post because I'm in a bad position here folx. My friend that was supposed to get Tom's Trailer backed out at the last minute. I'm sitting here with Tom's trailer and next Monday my roommate closes on his new house. The vibe I get right now from him isn't good, and I believe he's going to send us packing when the home closes next week. I would put the trailer in my storage unit but it's stuffed to the gills with my stuff. Tom can't come get it because of the shoulder surgery. So I really need someone to step up and give me a hand to get it somewhere more stable until it can get to Tom or someone can take it to Tom. I really need this!

Just haven't gotten around to doing it on the laptop yet, it's still a bit new. I've also had other things on my plate lately. AND my desktop is not on the network (no wireless card in it) so can't easily port the data from it yet. I also move in a week so not on my list of priorities....Did I mention I want to kill my room mate? He decided to be useful and packed the kitchen up! lol

Both my laptop and my laptop run windows....However my favorite recipe database program is linux based....so my desktop dual boots into linux as well so I can look up recipes

Also, if you were installing on a harddrive that has an OS(insert windows or linux here) I would be a good idea to try out several OSs via a virtual box emulator so you can get comfy with it and not "screw up" the computer. I can install windows on the computer then install the virtual box so you can install a flavour of linux to try that acts like a separate system. if you decided after 2-3 weeks you can use it well then it can be installed and windows wiped.

Kirby, if you want help with linux, give me a call, you already should have my number, my husband and I are both IT ppl, but mine's more a hobby, he gets paid to do support. We live close enough we can install and help you with any linux problems. I also recommend you get a book on linux. If you go with ubuntu I highly recommend this one to start you in your education: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Ubuntu-Linux-Dummies-Paul-Sery/dp/0470125055"]http://www.amazon.com/Ubuntu-Linux-Dummies-Paul-Sery/dp/0470125055 And this one when you get a bit more advanced or need a better reference: I love helping people with computer stuff, it gets me out of the house so don't think you will be a burden on me. I was trying to add amazon links to Ubuntu for dummies and Ubuntu unleashed. Both are excellent books. We have an earlier edition of ubuntu unleashed from a few years ago and hubby found it helpful for so of the more advanced stuff. However I can't make clicky links through this thing sheesh. Ubuntu is very easy for a beginner...except for the time when you want to install programs, some of them can take very advanced skills just to install a simple program. Occasionally even I have to ask hubby for help.

I'd go as the family rep since the spousal unit would be working, however I have no way to get from my home to anywhere north of me on my own....so unless someone has an idea I guess I can't go.

Uh Oh! Someone needs to go guard the ice cream!

Speaking on the VR related items, is there a place we can post so we can show interest in certain items that are out of stock? Mike wants a bell and would be interested in the large patches, however contacting the person who made the original patches seems to go nowhere for me.

I'm with Eddie on that one. Heck the last time I got a quote on insurance with them it was $1000/mo on my 1996 caprice. At the time my husband was working for them and that was with his "employee discount" At the time we each had a perfect driving record. I thought that was insane.

Need Prayers for Ponch!!!
GAWildKat replied to Sweetnothing's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Shannon, My heart goes out to you. It's a very difficult thing dealing with these time of injuries and the levels of emotional and physical exhaustion they cause. I pray that your Dad makes a full recovery. In the meantime lean on the family and friends who want to help. It's often them who hold you up when times are hardest. All the best to you, your mother, and David. Sincerely, Patricia Kosovic -

I'm sorry all this is happening. Prayers lifted. May the docs get you better. -
TuffTom ordered a new coupler to be shipped to my house. After it gets installed it will be towable.. The new coupler should be here by Thurs Sept 8th. After that someone can certainly come get it and take it home to Tom.

Mike called me from work. He saw a 1st gen in our subdivision. As he said, " I was thinking Yammer Dan came looking for us and got the wrong house." Second Sighting: Bright blue 2nd gen in the Radioshack parking lot on Booth RD. Rider was a Radioshack customer today who admired Mike's bike as he left. Mike didn't get a chance to introduce himself. If ANYONE knows who these ppl are we'd love to know.

Mike and I felt the $12 was invaluable when he made the choice to ride last year. Didn't get the bike until April, but without the support and assistance we gleaned from the site Mike may not have taken the MSF, learned the difference between belt, chain, and shaft drives, V4s and V twin, safety gear, etc. Most of our local friends don't do the safety gear and mock us wearing it. Mike said this morning how ironic it is that Tom had his accident and was lifeflighted to Macon where I could step in and assist. I kinda thought my job was over when Tom was discharged. when Tom called yesterday and told me the situation about his trailer I was able to help again. I messaged one of my friends in Atlanta through Facebook, he asked me to call him. I did. Darryl's 1st words were "Is this biker living in Ft Pierce FL?" I said yup. Darryl proceeds to tell me Tom's friend/coworker Larry is Darryl's fishing buddy and had already told him the tale of the accident. Darryl said he has no problem taking the trailer to Ocala to his Dad's for Larry or Tom to get. Now you guys just read the craziness of how things are working to get Tom's trailer home. While I can't say this type of thing is an everyday occurrence. I can say in my crazy world of who I know this stuff does happen alot. My poor husband has learned to sit back and accept the ride because there's little else he can do. lol I never take anything for granted in life. And I'm glad Mike and I found the site.

I wish we were. Hubby has to work open to close Sunday @ Radioshack and Snellville is a bit of a drive for me alone. Then Tom calls wanting the measurements of the tongue to order the new piece to be shipped here.
-
Sling just left after dropping off Tom's trailer. He pointed out the tongue is a bolt on piece and can be replaced. Since I have a bit of time before my friend Darryl comes to get the trailer I'll discuss with Tom what he wants regarding the tongue.
