  1. That happened in NY state.
  2. Wish I could go too, miss Arkansas....
  3. I got spooked last year, it's hard to explain. That rebel felt too small and the sport bikes were a hair too tall. I got the whole clutch thing and the friction zone stuff, was even riding around in circles in 1st, picking my feet up. I just banged up my knee too much to keep going, with no knee pain I would have done my best to finish. However I really want to take out a bike that is someone else's, and can't get me too hurt on a closed course while wearing protective gear.
  4. I almost always joke that I want to take the zuki for a spin and beg for the key, now I can lift and move that 800cc bike easily while it's off. After my 3 spills last yr during my MSF I know I don't really want to take that bike for a ride all by myself. Mike wanted to take me to the walmart parking lot last night and make me do some of the stuff we did in the MSF but it was a bit too cold. Told him when he buys me the trike I asked for then we can talk lol. I think I need training wheels.:rotf:
  5. Happy Birthday Annie!
  6. Mike and I lost a friend 2 yrs ago this coming November. While I feel in my heart it was her time, I think more education (she had taken a safety class in OH) and more attentive riding could have made a difference between her jumping off the bike into the ditch or hitting that SUV broadside as she did, it's a death that haunts me because that could have been me. I now wear the ICON chest armor because of that happened to her. I will do my best to find a small bike for Tatiana and we get the gear she needs. I'm planning on getting a triked Burgman 650 and putting adaptive controls on it sometime between now and hell freezes over.
  7. GA requires the endorsement, I can get my learner's and ride legally on my learner's for 6 mons before doing a road test to get the class M endorsement. Tatiana unfortunately being a Florida resident will have to travel back to FL when she's ready to take the class and pray she passes the 1st time. She's mentioned she wants me to go with her as her support. We are already start to look for her boots, gloves, jacket, and helmet. I will probably be going with her to look at bikes when she's ready. Granted imho her Dad should be helping her with this, not so much me, I'm not even sure if we found a bike we could get it home by ourselves lol. One step at a time though...
  8. I got her talked into a smaller bike, a rebel 250 if it works ok when she goes to take the MSF, she wants a commuter bike that looks sporty/flashy. We (Hubby and I) put her on his suzuki volusia intruder 800cc and told her to pick it up, she can't do it. Now it's finding the time to go to FL (we're in GA) so she can take the class. Her home addy, license, etc are in Miami. For those of you thinking I should take the class, you're right! I WANT to ride, however because I am disabled I need a trike with adaptive controls, and a trike class to get licensed. Already took the MSF and withdrew last yr, I won't give up though.
  9. Most of you don't know, but in 09 Mike was in a wreck with a semi (rearended 2x). Other than some whiplash and bruising from the seatbelt he seemed fine after I drove him to the ER. A few days later he started having memory, vision, and speech problems that continued to worsen. After several CAT scans, MRIs the docs couldn't find anything wrong except a cyst in his brain that might explain some but not all the symptoms. However it was considered a preexisting condition and therefore unrelated to the accident. In the spring of 2010 Mike made the decision when he got his settlement money from the accident he was buying a bike, something he could commute on and do roadtrips. While the case was dragging its feet we saw another doc that was willing to evaluate Mike for our case, while he didn't testify that the accident had a direct impact on Mike's cognitive and speech abilities he told us Mike needed activities that would engage Mike's brain more than what I had tried thus far. After buying the Zuki last spring and spending all summer riding to his heart's content alot of the memory and speech problems faded slowly as well as the vision issues. By the time he went back to work and had worked a few weeks all but a few words he still can't pronounce correctly were back to normal. The downside (to me) is I lost my slavic sounding husband (He's 1st gen Croatian-American) and has been replaced by a country hick lol. I think he figured out during his downtime that the complexity of riding his bike would retrain his brain to adapt.
  10. I should mention I have mild cerebral palsy and am about 40% paralyzed on my right side and I was able to walk a 500lb bike into an upright position unaided.
  11. I used the technique on hubby's bike last yr. Long story short we were headed to the Vogel Rally in NE GA and planned to stop at his parents a few days before the registration. We were headed up the one lane road Mike's parents live on abt 2pm. I was about to mention should we call and verify his Dad isn't coming down the driveway in his Avalanche. Now at this point Mike's very tired and trying to not panic as he sees the huge SUV barrelling at him. So he attempts to pull into a red clay and gravel driveway when his suzuki volusia intruder stalls and over we go lol. His Dad gets out of the Avalanche and both of them try to get the bike righted. I make em both back up and use the walking method and up she went. Bike wasn't damaged, but Mike's pride was hurt as it has been his one and only drop to date, and was right in front of his Dad.

  13. She knows it's dangerous, and she sees the gear Mike and I wear. But unlike us, she hasn't buried a friend or family member. I keep telling her that a 650cc crotch rocket isn't the same as a 650cc cruiser, she doesn't get it at all. She's 25, fresh out of college and wants something to go back and forth to work. She has the idea that a crotch rocket will fit the bill the same as a scooter or cruiser. She's impulsive and stubborn. She's at that stage in life that she's invincible. And nothing bad has happened to her. I have maybe 2 months to talk her out of this idea. Maybe the class will show her better.
  14. One of my girlfriends is wanting her 1st bike....she's never taken a safety course, she says she will but I am not sure she will. She's got in her head she wants a crotch rocket, something about a 650 or larger. She's headstrong about things and when her mind's set she'll do it even if it's going to hurt her. I'm trying to convince her to get a Vstar 650 or the like as a 1st bike, what am I to do? Her Dad rides as well but he has a crotch rocket and has many yrs of experience with riding. HELP!

  16. Mike and I have the 2 piece frogg toggs and thus far we've not needed the jackets, just the pants
  17. Toga optional....
  18. My on being able to view bikes as I still drive the caprice around. Fri I was out running errands as Mike was leaving for work, we each took different routes knowing I'd be at the store shortly. I drove to the next subdivision east of mine because the entrance to to the highway is better. As I waited for traffic to clear for me to enter the highway I saw a line of cars approaching me from the left, I saw I had a nice LARGE opening to make the left turn and merge with traffic. What I couldn't see until after I made the turn was this HD painted all black coming at me from the left. He had his light on but he completely blended in with the car behind him. Yeah it shook me even though I had plenty of time, it's the fact I really couldn't see him at all. I never saw his headlight til I was passing him.
  19. Here in the DEEP South there is a huge difference between grilling out and BBQing. BBQ often requires smoking meat sometimes with seasoning/sauce, sometimes it's added later. Grilling is the cooking of steaks, burgers, chicken, and other meats. As I don't have a way to smoke meat properly I don't get the fun of that. Also both BBQ and grilling are often enjoyed by men. Unfortunately, my husband has shown little interest in the actual effort that comes with grilling meat, he likes to be the pyro that starts the fire. WARNING: Never accept an offer from Mike to get the grill started, he causes fireballs!
  20. Having married a Yankee man, they call grilling season, BBQ season, I was raised to call it grilling, Mike's parents still call it BBQ season, they don't understand the difference.
  21. If I weren't trying to lose weight AND am on a low fat diet per docs orders I'd go for making each of these a week for the rest of the summer or til the end of the year, whichever came 1st. Just don't show the site to Mike, he might force me to make a few of these lol.
  22. *Remains silent*
  23. Peggy, I say take an MSF class for ladies, get a nice used scooter and have fun. When Ron sees how much fun you're having he may decide to join you.
