  5. Yeah, Mike's tossing around the idea of redoing the adjustment again. He's already decided to sell the bike, so either he will be able to fix it or part it out. It's been a great bike to learn on, but the 35mi commute on the interstate each way hasn't been kind to it. He debated keeping it to trike for me, but its not the best midsize bike to trike. I just want my husband happy. I'm tired of seeing an overstressed husband. Riding has given him a lot of joy these last 3 years. I'm mostly afraid he's learned an expensive lesson. Sorta. He's still learning about everything. Sunday I noticed the zuki needed a new front tire, he argued he didn't, our friend corrected him and explained why. The Venture needs a new front tire too, told him he needs to do that before he rides it again..."it can wait a month" It's a bad habit he got into with the cars... partly due to the income we had. I'm kinda hoping he can get talked into tires come maintenance day. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

  7. You may be right. The friend while he owns an old yammy of some yr primarily rides a harley,, great guy alot of experience . Mike and I are still newbies to bikes and the mechanics of them. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  8. Your bike is a 2nd gen. All the bikes from 99-2013 are the same save minor differences, some of the later models had an ipod or cd changer. I'm sure one of the guys will jump in with more technical nfo in a few. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  9. Speaker of smoke out the pipes, I have an unhappy husband, he took 2 weekends to work on doing a lifter adjustment on his 04 Volusia. Today he got everything back together today, got the bike cranked, and now there's a tick low in the engine...friend think a push rod got bent..Mike can't afford to take another weekend away from schoolwork to work on the bike right now. So look like I call a. Shop in the morning and see if they can be reasonable and do the work. All kinds of pretty white smoke came out the pipes when he was cranking it. 10. Mike's been wanting to put strobes on the caprice when we restore it, but in purple and green only. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  11. You have my sympathies Lewis, I ruptured the disk @L4...if I move or sit wrong...ouch. Also learned that new Traverse my inlaws helped Mike buy for me is too high for me to step in w/o flairing my back....meaning I have to drive with ouchies...oh how I want my caprice back in fighting form. 12. Hi Vincent! Glad to see you made it back, hopefully in one piece. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  13. This is a pain I too well understand. I lost Dad @22 yrs old and Mom @32 yrs old. I'm not looking forward to the day when Mike has to lose his parents as well. Take comfort that your Mom lived a full life on her terms. My hope is the pain lessens as the memories become easier to bear. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  14. Congrats on the Anniversary. Mike and I celebrated 10 yrs in November. How the time flies! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  15. I'm sorry for your loss. But look at the bright side, he got to enjoy the snow 2weeks ago. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  16. GEICO...he currently works for the Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance. He loves the ppl he works for and with, but the lack of work while he collects a paycheck makes him feel underutilized. Basically, same job at the gecko for more money and better hrs. And I'll have him home by 4pm.
  17. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=386&day=2014-3-29&c=1 Just a reminder that it's coming. Our roommate plans to fire up the grill and make brats, hamburgers, etc. There's the sofabed downstairs, a sofa, recliners and a twinbed upstairs for overnight guests. There's the side yard and backyard for those who want to camp. Feel free to drop in and lend a hand or bring a project. More the merrier.
  18. It came to Mike's attention in the last few weeks that politics being what they are at the farm bureau, he'd never get paid close to what he's worth, and very likely below industry standard for this area. Also he hasn't had work to do in 6 mons and feels it's time to move on somewhere he can actually use that college education. His supervisor and another team member showed him a position open over at the gecko making more than 2x what he does with more responsibility, and future advancement, better hrs, etc. His team member was hired by the gecko last week for more than 2x what he made at the farm bureau after 7 yrs employment there and promoted him....long story short, Mike interviews with the gecko tomorrow entry level pay for the position ($50k) is more than 2x what he currently makes. Getting a job there and staying with them means a house of our own in the future. Something we need desperately, there's no more parking space here at the house lol. Please put in a good word upstairs. Mike said no trike for me:no-no-no: til we have our own home.
  19. August would work great for Mike and me as well.
  20. I'm home and parked and not going anywhere til the roads are deemed safe Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  21. I'm 39 yrs old and was born and raised in GA. I've lived in Alberta and PA and saw snow in both places. It's like night and day. I didnt get my license until I was 26. So I've never had a chance to learn to drive in snowy or icy conditions. Mike attempted to take me out to practice in a parking lot this morning, but they are all cleared around our house. Where we live in Central Georgia isn't aa bad as Atlanta. But I still remember the ice storm in 83 and the blizzard of 93. And many of you would remember the blizzard of 73. This storm system didn't compare to those. And I fully expect there to be a spring blizzard like the one in 93 this year, we're due. I'll do like I've always done and stay home again. Those of you that saw worse weather than we did, stay safe and warm. 22. it's 2:10, the Georgia farm bureau just told everyone to go home, but there's only light rain here in middle GA atm. So Mike's on his way home and we still don't have snow or sleet lol. Robins Air Force base closed for the day. All the schools are closed, even the colleges.
  23. I'm one of those ppl because I have asthma that needs the flu shot. For a couple of yrs because I and my oldest both have moderate to severe asthma, would make everyone in the house get a shot. On the yrs Mike got the shot, everyone got majorly sick, Rose wound up in the hospital with me almost as sick. Since then we learned that everyone else can get the shot, but keep it away from Mike, he's never had the flu since either. And that was a decade ago.
  24. The AFB here in Warner Robins GA is closed along with all the schools in about 11 counties around me. it's 11:51am and there's still no snow, sleet, rain or freezing rain. Roomie got the day off, Mike had to report. We'll see how things go today. But at least I got the taxes done and filed! yay me. Oh, Mike comes home @ 2 to work from home.
