To update everyone on weather who plan to travel here...local wearherman is calling for rain fri and scattered tstorms Sat. Obviously Mike's working on the bike either way in the garage if needed. But we don't want anyone to travel in unsafe weather conditions. We can always hold another one at a later date. Say late May or June after graduation. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk -
It would be better if everyone showed up Sat...then I'll con the roomie into cake.

When my husband rides without me I use life360 to track him. In an emergency he can use the app to contact me or EMS. We always let the roomie and friends know where we are going and travel time. Even the nonriders in our circle understand. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

Other than Don and Patti's meet n eat in May all plans this year are up in the air. Asheville may be doable since Mike won't be back in college this fall. We want to do International this yr since it is so close to home, but waiting to see how things work out this summer. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

It became official yesterday. Starting Monday, Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance has a new Programmer 1! Mike/ StormRaven earned a 29% raise, taking him from the salary he was earning to what takes effect next week. Other programmer 1s at GFB are currently making are making 20% less. I'll point out too, last yr he made $21k between Radioshack and GFB, the year before $14k at Radioshack, 2011 was his worst employment yr, made $5k at Radioshack. 2010 was spent on worker's comp so we don't count it. He is now the highest paid programmer 1 in GFB history. While it wasn't the pay he wanted, the directors over IT made it clear they want him to stay and want to earn his long term retention. No one could be more proud than me of what he has accomplished in the last four years. Especially since the wreck that almost left him with an unknown future after the head injury. His parents wrote him off as a failure years ago and now don't truly acknowledge how far he's come, especially since the wreck. This is the same guy a year ago was told by his DM @ Radioshack that he would not amount to anything. (Not that he listened.) Next step, college graduation on May 9th, 2 degrees, Computer Programming and Network Engineering. Guess GEICO didn't understand what they missed out on when they turned him down for employment. ...oh well. He loves his work environment @GFB.

Saberwing's alive again...sorta
GAWildKat replied to GAWildKat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have plugs and wires, but replacement coils no, so please do. It also looks like the right rear float is sticking and or plugged. It truly is a project bike for us, but it will be great once we get it finished and purdy. I'll happily order new diaphragms and whatever else is needed to deal with the sticky carb. Yes Dan, seafoam will be applied this week! -

That was Mike's brilliant idea, however, it wasn't running much better after he put everything back on to take it for a ride. We've confirmed the right rear carb is not working. When he did get it cranked finally, gas poured out the bottom of the bike there. What you couldn't see on the video was an annoyed husband that I was taking pics and video of everything lol. Did you set the jumper on both the drive and the board to slave? I'm going to make the assumption you know to not use the cable select jumper setting on the drive. If I had a working spare IDE drive to send to you, I'd see if it was the IDE port on the board was bad. I personally stopped using Tigerdirect about 4 yrs ago, their prices are often higher than other online retailers, and after they merged with CompUSA a few yrs ago, service went down hill. I prefer newegg.com and I usually have my parts within 3 days of order, never had a part DOA from newegg. I think my nearest Tigerdirect retail location is in FL, and when I've made calls to customer service I've gotten someone spanish speaking that has to swap to english to speak to me. If you were closer, I'd say bring the system over and I'd test it for you. Good luck.

SaberWing has Narcolepsy!
GAWildKat replied to StormRaven's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No, engine doesn't die in neutral, it runs; just the brake lights, turn signals, and horn doesn't function. The cluster will not function unless Mike has all the switches, etc in the above pattern. -

Mike's busy trying to divide time between the bike and homework. ..last semester of college woohoo! Last couple of weekends he's been trying to crank the Venture and it wants to, but battery is giving up before he does. The above fixes were addressed at Vogel last yr save the duct tape. School started back up the day after we came home and until now he hasn't touched the bike. Anyone else have any ideas? Even checking the solder points on the dash was done. I am an AMD fan as well, I have an AM2 2.1 Dual core proc that runs my media server that I bought new in 2007, still runs great. However for the last yr AMD hasn't been strong in the processor market. When my husband asked me to build him a new system that fit his needs for both school and work I went intel i7. His entire system was an upgrade, $1800. But as a computer programmer who also games he had very specific needs. Although he reused his power supply I never recommend it after a hardware system failure. I built a system on newegg for anyone wanting to build a system. If you cant find the venturerider build in the public wish lists, let me know and I'll email the link.
