I had a cast from ankle to crotch. 2 days after I got the cast I was walking across the room on it...figured the cast was suppporting all the weight. When my wife told the doc he FREAKED!!!!! Well.....he never said not to!

  12. I lost my Mum to lung cancer in September. She had quit smoking about 20 years ago but she also had developed bronchitis and emphisimah (sp?) Thankfully, she enjoyed life to the full and died 2 days after coming home from a 2 week vacation in Nova Scotia with close friends. Not sure if it was the cancer or her heart gave out in her weakened condition...but it was relatively quick and painless. I only hope the same is true for your Mum. It's a difficult time but that is the reality of the world we live in. Good friends can make a bad time tolerable.
  13. not to worry....from what I've read nobody takes you seriously anyway!

    Hockey

A guy I know, named Bill was at the game. He went to sit down and noticed an empty seat bside him. He couldn't believe the seat would be empty for game 7 of the Stanley Cup! The gentleman beside the empty seat explained that his wife had just died and that the empty seat was hers. Bill asked him "couldn't you give the seat to any of your friends?" The gentleman replied..."nah...they are all at the funeral!" :crying::crying::crying: I was rooting for Vancouver!
  15. 2005 Escape I folded down the back seat on the escape to load something up...then when I went to lift the seat, the middle seatbelt won't "un ratchet" to allow the seat to lift up! I can get it ( the seat) to move about 6" and that's about it. (I had to be very careful how I worded this post to avoid Viagara ads!) I've tried feeding the belt back into the slot..but it won't release tension. I can't pull it out at all. Any suggestions on how to release the tension on a seat belt? The retractor is near the top of the backrest in the middle back seat and is not very accessable when the seat is folded down.
  16. Hey Annie-Mae! If you divorced Al would he still be your brother?? :rotfl:
  17. It was only running on 3 cylinders. I've got it torn apart now. another question....the black air box on forward top of the engine, with 4 hoses running to just below the carbs....is that what most people eliminate? What does it do and if it is eliminated, what about the hoses? What about the "flat" molded plastic plates the fit on top of the engine...are they heat shields? Do most folks keep them on?
  18. is it possible to test TCI or the coils off the bike? If so...how? I've got my blonde torn apart (VERY apart!) which is VERY scary! Anybody in Ontario got an 83 that they would be willing to try my TCI on? How do you open it to see the condition of the diodes etc....cut it? you are gonna see a lot of that emoticon in the near future!
  19. Sounds like its time to pony up the $12 and become a member. Then you can get the parts etc you may need along with a discount and contribute to maintaining this great site!
  20. I have a heel/toe shifter on my 83 with running boards. It is a bit sloppy on the shaft. If anyone wants it I'll trade it for a toe shift lever.(not the running boards!)
  21. Pretty amazing video of a chinese(?) couple doing a combination of ballet, gymnastics and contortionism! http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=GsTqmEeBKhw&vq=medium#t=44

    Sea Foam

Folks have sung the praises of sea foam here many times....but what is Deep Creep?
  23. noise is not noticable in neutral...nor when I pull in the clutch and coast at any speed
  24. The new plates were soaking in a pool of oil in the pan while I was working on it, plus I rubbed it into the plates.
  25. At Don's MD I was going to install Skydoc's upgrade kit, which as you may know, includes new clutch springs and a full friction plate to replace the factory 1/2 plate. Earl was talking me thru the job so I know it is done right. He suggested that my clutch plates were very near the end of their life so I replaced all of the friction plates, but kept the steel plates as they were not burnt or scored. I have since noticed that there is a loud noise that wasn't there before. It is much like a low pitched wind howl. It is loud enough that it is bothersome. It is at its worse when I am just poking along in 3rd or 4th around 3000 rpm but is still noticable at 4000 and above. It doesn't seem anywhere as loud in 1st or 2nd, even at those rpms. I know these bikes like the higher revs, but with rev's come more noise and sometimes just humming along feels like the right thing to do in towns etc. Now just before I changed the clutch I also changed the oil to Shell Rotella 15/40, which makes it harder to determine which is the cause...the new clutch or the new oil??? Any ideas??
