When I click on the "globe" icon to see google maps, I usually don't recognize where it is unless I change the scale of the map to show a much larger area of the country. I used to have my location as "somewhere north of Kingston" but of course the map wouldn't recognize that....so as someone else said...now I have city(or more like a hamlet) and province.

Some bikes just ain't got no class!
Trader replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK ....that's a start. I have installed skydoc's fuse kit. the top (front-ACC)) connector in the new fuse block has the red wire on the left, leading to the left side terminal block . In the wiring diagram is is shown as a black wire on the left side but the instructions, and . Earl told me to clip the black wire and cap it. It's opposite wire...is supposed to be Red with a black stripe. I checked...and it is correct...but the R/B wire is powered on the RIGHT (Correction)...even when fuse is out. I can't see where the R/B wire goes to....I think into the wire harness. -

Yeah....in ACC. I've got more messed up than just the class. My wiring is totally messed up. WHen I turn on the key the tach is showing 4000 rpm. I tried the signals and the relay just buzzed. The class is not showing ANYTHING (other than the light working) I have checked all fuses and double checked wiring (I replaced the fuse block). I took apart all class plugs, sprayed with cleaner, plugged and unplugged a few times. -

So far I have checked all the fuses...One was blown in the Front fuse box...but it was suppsedly for the fan...which I probably don't even need this time of year. I sprayed cleaner on the class connections (sq. plug with about 6 wires) and plugged/unplugged a few times. Still noting to the controller. can anyone give me readouts I should have from the sq. plug...then stand by for more questions! If all else fails, I'll be looking for volunteers anywhere in Ontario (well, Maybe south of North Bay) or Northern NY. I can come to your place and perhaps we can get it fixed. Supposed to be good weather this weekend and I was hoping to get it done so I can go get my trialer from Jim's in Rochester. -
So it seems you work about the same way I do.... We do a job, undo it because of problems , redo again...usually creating a different problem. so we finally redo it one more time correctly! (or at least we hope so!) :bang head:

This video is about 12 min long...but worth it. It talks about Americans coming together...but I'd like to think that most people would do the same thing! http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthread.php?136581-BoatLift-An-Untold-tale-of-September-11-Resilience

YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD! A Calgary, Alberta senior citizen drove his brand new shiney red Corvette out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 130 km/h, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.. "Amazing," he thought as he flew down the Trans-Canada towards Banff, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a Royal Canadian Mounted Police patrol car behind him, blue and red lights flashing. He floored it to 160 Km/h, then 180, then 200. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this," and pulled over to await the RCMP's arrival. Pulling in behind him, the Officer walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch and said: "Sir, my shift ends in 15 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." The gentleman paused. Then said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a police officer. I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, Sir," replied the Officer.

I can't find my camera cable anywhere...and I don't seem to be able to email myself the pics (I might not even have that package on my phone service) Like I said....I use the phone for phone calls...last time I dumped pictures from the camera was about 2 years ago!!! So...you'll just have to take my word on it...it was very pretty!
-
If I can't find my cable I'll have to try and figure out how to do that. All I ever use the phone for is phone calls or the camera...I don't even text with it.

I met Ron in Bancroft today at a planning meeting for some renovations that need doing there. I rode my bike the 5 hrs return He owns an 86 VR and was asking if I might know why his cruise control did'nt work. I asked if he could start the bike while NOT in neutral...he said "no" so I suggested it could be his clutch switch...or possibly his sidestand switch. I also suggested he check out this site for MUCH better technical assistance than I could ever provide. So Ron....if you read this WELCOME....there are a few threads with titles like "is this site worth the $12".. read some of them and decide for yourself. The folks here are a pretty decent bunch...relatively speaking!

I went for a nice long ride today. Had to go to Bancroft and it wasn't supposed to rain so I figured I'd take the bike. I jumped on the 84 ...(Class is still not fixed on the 88) but only after putting on about 6 layers of clothing including the rain suit Then I headed out for my 2 1/2 hour ride in overcast and 6 *C about 9:00 am It was a cool but nice ride. After I took care of neccessary business I rode home about 3:30 in bright sunlight (still only about 12*C or( 54*F) But the leaves were amazing. I rode past some large rock faces, many many lakes, and it was nearly all nice winding (some twisty) country roads. I took about 15 pics (I know the rules) but now I cant' find the cable to connnect my phone to the PC I"ll try again tomorrow afternoon.

First...I should mention that I'm about as good a contractor as I am a mechanic:bang head: but even if the walls are out of square...is it worth tearing down to start all over? I would think that as long as the long walls are parallel , the trusses will fit... If the end walls are out of square can't you "hide" that with a bit of creative soffit work? The concrete floor won't matter...its a "liquid" when you pour it. An out of square ceiling might require some custom cutting....but my point is...it's doable...not the ideal...but it won't make a difference to the structural integity of the building..... am I wrong here?

My Mum told me that they used to have that character in England during and after the war. Not sure if he was "Kilroy" there or not...but he would be looking over the fence like that and asking... "WOT ? NO SUGAR?" or whatever other commodities were on rations.
-
I called him the other evening and he spent about 1/2 hr on the phone with me talking me thru some technical issues. I very much doubt Earl is avoiding anyone as he really seems to enjoy helping us mechanically challanged people!

The 88 is Ventureline for sure....not sure what or who the 84 back rest is. the 84 has markland light bar on the rear...probably adapted from a GW set up. I think it's ugly...but just never got around to removing it.

First 2 shots are from my 84 Last 2 are from my 88 you can see the mount is completely differeent

There IS a wire snap ring that has to come off. It is #4 in the diagram, Can't remember if it is at the BOTTOM of the air collar or between the o-rings!. I just used a very fine screw driver. The collars themselves are a friction fit...O ring near the top and near the bottom is all that seals them. Once the clip is off, and the triple tree clamps are loose, the forks should just slide right out.
