still looking for oil leak!
Trader replied to ACE50's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
folks here have stated that the breather hoses can cause a few drops every now and then. Nothing wrong with the bike...just the nature of the beast! Could it be from there? -

What I wonder is ...do "THEY" know what "IT" really is. You know who I mean....the "THEY" who are responsible for most things. as in ......I know it's not fun...but THEY said we had to do IT"

Cruise control, help please
Trader replied to Rody 1949's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not to highjack the thread but My 88 also has no cruise. When I hit the power button, it cycles thru all the lights...then nothing happens! If I push the set button...nothing. So...where do I start? Also, is it possible to check and fix the cruise control while in the shop? -

aftermarket battery
Trader replied to Yamamike's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
DId you ensure that when you installed the resistor that you did it in the right direction? I know they are directional and I THINK the gold ring on the resistor has to be towards the battery. Could someone verify that for me....I wouldn't want to mislead anyone If nothing else a bit of electrical tape over the red light works!- 28 replies

You can always break it in on the bench. I've seen some guys use engine mounts or even a vice to break them in....with a coffee can to collect the exhaust oils. But make sure you always run it with a prop...otherwise you will over rev it. The newer fuels have an oil componant in them so they don't need an after-run oil. Just use a foam ear plug to protect against dust etc and put it away till next time. I've got about 10 planes in the attic but haven't flown in 2 years!

fyiw, I was cruising EBay for used speedo cables. There were several that included the speedo front wheel hub for about $25. Price at the dealer after taxes was just shy of $25 (for cable only)

My guess is that each of the cards is slightly smaller/narrower so the deck actually forms a pyramid (with the top cut off) when full. As he is talking he is feeling them and re-arranging them back into the pyramid shape. But it would have to be very minor differences so as to not be obvious !!!!!

Bob Hill and his new wife, Betty were vacationing in Europe near Transylvania. They were driving in a rental car along a rather deserted highway. It was late and raining very hard. Bob could barely see the road in front of the car. Suddenly the car skids out of control! Bob attempts to control the car, but to no avail! The car swerves and smashes into a tree. Moments later, Bob shakes his head to clear the fog. Dazed, he looks over at the passenger seat and sees his wife unconscious, with her head bleeding! Despite the rain and unfamiliar countryside, Bob knows he has to get her medical assistance. Bob carefully picks his wife up and begins trudging down the road. After a short while, he sees a light. He heads towards the light, which is coming from a large, old house. He approaches the door and knocks.A minute passes. A small, hunched man opens the door. Bob immediately blurts, "Hello, my name is Bob Hill, and this is my wife Betty. We've been in a terrible accident, and my wife has been seriously hurt. Can I please use your phone?" "I'm sorry," replied the hunchback, "but we don't have a phone. My master is a doctor; come in and I will get him!"Bob brings his wife in. An older man comes down the stairs. "I'm afraid my assistant may have misled you. I am not a medical doctor; I am a scientist.. However, it is many miles to the nearest clinic, and I have hada basic medical training. I will see what I can do. Igor, bring them down to the laboratory." With that, Igor picks up Betty and carries her downstairs, with Bob following closely. Igor places Betty on a table in the lab. Bob collapses from exhaustion and his own injuries, so Igor places Bob on an adjoining table. After a brief examination, Igor's master looks worried. "Things are serious, Igor." Igor and his master work feverishly, but to no avail. Bob and Betty Hill are no more. The Hills' deaths upset Igor's master greatly. Wearily, he climbs the steps to his conservatory, which houses his grand piano. For it is here that he has always found solace. He begins to play, and a stirring, almost haunting melody fills the house. Meanwhile, Igor is still in the lab tidying up. His eyes catch movement, and he notices the fingers on Betty's hand twitch, keeping time to the haunting piano music.. Stunned, he watches as Bob's arm begins to rise, marking the beat! He is further amazed as Betty and Bob both sit up straight! Unable to contain himself, he dashes up the stairs to the conservatory. He bursts in and shouts to his master: "Master,Master! .....The Hills are alive with the sound ofmusic!" What did you expect... it's free from a demented old friend on the Internet

Trader replied to Lassesand's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
SO far on this thread I've seen TBX, FWIW, OMG, TBQH ,TGIAF, ROFLMAO and of course TCI and YICS Its bad enough trying to learn the mechanics of the bike without learning a new language too! You guys using your cell phones to post? -
Wasn't it Honda that made an automatic bike back in the 80's I don't mean the little minibike....I think it was a 500 or 650. Are there no automatic bikes anywhere now?

It is true we are here to help in anyway we can, even if only to provide a listening ear. BUT... I think you have to be aware that any comments made in a forum such as this one are considered "in the public domain" and can be used against you. Same thing for facebook comments, even emails. You just never know who can get their hands on it...so use discretion!

Mine (1st gen but probably similar) wouldn't start in gear (Kickstand up or down!) It had to be in neutral... didn't matter if clutch was in or out. I replaced the clutch switch (or you could clean it as per DIngy's instructions) Now it starts in gear, with clutch in (as long as the kick stand is up) as it should!

What's that got to do with Dan's Garage?

I think Marcarl is referring to the ride where we had to use a trailer to get all the booze home for Bongobob! The one that Bigtom was going to pass on because of his "sore back" or was it family birthday parties???? Either way...he was there!

I remember way back when, I had an Atarii 800. I think it had a whopping 48 k memory....it was a big deal to have a 1mb hard drive! it was around that time...or shortly after that a guy at work was telling me abut his Commodor...and how it had "windows" type of gui interface. He was basically telling me Commodor had it first and Apple "stole" the idea from them. Not saying yes or no...just this thread made me remember those comments.

It seems there is a merger between several bike companies and a supercar manufacturer. They want to develop a vehicle that utilizes the speed and comfort of a supercar...but that leans into corners like a bike. Kawasaki, Suzuki, Toshiba ,Yamaha and Mazaratti are reported to be working on a possible merger. Now I'm not saying the new name is difficult to pronounce...but at the news conference, the CEO making the announcement tried to pronounce it and he ended up chipping 2 teeth and shreding his tongue!
