Some bar jokes - how many can we manage ?
Trader replied to greg_in_london's topic in Jokes and Humor
A piece of string goes into a bar but the bartender says "Sorry, we don't serve string" So the string goes outside, gets all tangled up and ruffles up his hair and goes back into the bar. The bartender says "Aren't you the piece of string I just kicked out"? The string says "No, I'm afraid not!" for those who might not get it...."No, I'm a frayed knot!" That better? -
OF COURSE we expect it to be an original that is circulating!!!! I would be dissappointed if this group of people did anything illegal like that. When I said 'copy" what I meant was if it was a different video from that one we have all been waiting for.
-
Wasn't there a list posted of those wanting to get that video on the board? Or is this a copy other than what that list related to perhaps.

Hi Folks, Partshark say we will not get stuck with the extra charges UPS is so famous for when sending to Canada. Any Ontario folk have any experience with them? Was it as stated?

Carbs,,, here we go!
Trader replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Relax Carl!!!! its the 83 I'm talking about. As you know, It's in a million pieces in the garage and I play with it once in awhile. I don't expect IT to be on the road this year. I want to fix it good! Including paint etc. The 88 is on the road but still not right. After all the work we did with them last fall I figured the carbs need a full off the bike rebuild. I bought a set of carbs for the 88 and I'll rebuild them so I just have to do a switch and sync and be back on the road with it ASAP. Money is always an issue so I'll probably do the carbs for the 88 first and then do the 83. I think I need to do a clutch on the 88 as well:crying: -
In another thread (do a search for "4 brush starter") Dingy suggested there would be very little room to do the ground mod on a 4 brush....from what I've read everybody says it is not needed. just my uneducated
-
Well, I got the carb rack off the 83 tonight. Those linkages are something else! I have no idea how I'm gonna get them back together!!! Just taking them off was a real test of my "christian vocabulary"!!!!!!!:bang head: Any way....now all I need is the parts So...for a proper job, could someone tell me what parts I need to order? I have new diaphrams already Also....the fuel line looks like a red colour braded hose. is that the original one? Thinking I might just as well change while I'm at it if it is. Also going to do the head cover gaskets. Although it looks like it has been leaking from the bolts more so than the covers themselves. Lots of other jobs...not likely going to see the road this summer.

A letter from a Gutsy Cape Bretoner –Gotta love it!!! “Dear Revenue Canada, Enclosed and/or attached, you will find my 2010 tax return showing that I owe $3,407.00 in taxes. Please note the attached article from the Toronto Globe and Mail; dated 12 November, wherein you will see the Canadian Department of National Defense is paying $171.50 per hammer and Fisheries and Oceans Canada has paid $600.00 per toilet seat for its icebreakers. As payment, I am enclosing four (4) toilet seats (valued @ $2,400) and six (6) hammers valued @ $1,029), which I secured at Canadian Tire, bringing my total remittance to $3,429.00. Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to next year's tax bill or a roll of toilet paper. It has been a pleasure to pay my tax bill this year, and I look forward to paying it again next year.

The heel toe shifter on my 83 is flopping around on the shaft. The hole in the aluminum shifter body has gone oval shape and it makes shifting less "secure" if that's the right word. Feels uncomfortable in that I'm not really sure I AM getting to the desired gear or if the shifter just moved under my foot. (I've rarely missed a shift...but you know what I mean.) Is installing a bushing something I can do myself? I don't really want to pay for an expensive machinist job! I am assuming I drill out the hole in the aluminum shifter to the outside diameter of a bushing that would fit tight over the shaft. What would stop the hole from wearing out again? Where does someone buy bushings?

Yeah....discrimination at it's worst. 2nd gens only. They may have the cables....but we have the speed.

Well I got the clutch bled properly, checked the air pressure in the tires and went for a ride. The class is acting up...I have to press on the connection from behind to see the display..but other than that it seems to be working OK. Went for a 1/2 hr ride and changed the oil and filter (I know ....that should have been done BEFORE it was stored) Does anyone have a set of chrome speaker trim? I think they were from Ventureline.....just an "outline" of the speaker grill in chrome. I'd be interested in buying a pair if anyone has some. Also looking for the chrome tabs that go on the top-back corners of the faring...they are about 3" long, with a 90 degree bend and cover the corner.

same thing happened to me a few years back. I was attending a business meeting at a yacht club and, as I was early, I decided to walk around the boardwalk/docks. There was a 5' hedge on one side, about a 4' boardwalk then water. I turned a corner and almost stepped on a goose on her nest! The Gander (male goose) went crazy on me!! He flew up in my face trying to peck me. He did manage to get a bite my suit or tie several times. It was hand to beak combat in close quarters...I had to watch my step if I didn't want to go swimming! Well I backed up in a hurry, all the while trying to just push against the birds chest to keep him off me. I didn't want to hurt him...he was just protecting his future family! It seemed it had at least a 5' wingspan :whistling:although I was a little to busy to measure at the time. Once I got to a safe distance, I realized that I had dropped my cell phone in the fracus . So, once again with steely determination, I bravely advanced into enemy territory I was searching the ground for my cell phone, all the while fending of the attack of the frantic Dad to be. There it was! just a few feet away from the nest! It was close enough that mother goose decided she had to help Dad out and joined the fray. (This is no fairy tale!) Mind you....It was hard to look very effectively while I was warding off the attacks of a pair of killer guard geese! The phone was laying there...., and the battery case cover, so I scooped them up and beat a hasty retreat out of there! Once at a safe distance (had to be further than the first time) I went to put the battery cover on the phone and discovered there was NO BATTERY:crying: I decided I had caused enough upset to the family (Is it possible to cause eggs to have a miscarrage?) and decided it really was time to buy a new battery anyway. Besides, I had to go change my underware !

We did the same thing....they told us to look online to see the luxury accomodations. We were impressed...but it Turns out those rooms were for the members! We ended up in what was basically a regular hotel room. The resort was nice and we got freebies for going...but it seemed a bit like "bait and switch" Still well worth the $69 we paid for the weekend.
-
when you were "invited" to go for the weekend they told you you would have to attend a sales meeting. I ALWAYS ask in advance how long that sales meeting is. When the clock strikes....I say thank you and get up and leave. Some places ask you to sign a paper showing you were there. But you don't have to let them bully you or to keep you longer than you were told. The longest one I had to attend was 90 min. I am also strongly against buying one! Use the money for a hotel. Afterall...when on holiday, basically all you need is a bed! All the other stuff is just "nice to have"
