Which brings to mind the story of the blonde who was paid to paint the porch. After a few hours she came in and said" all done...but it's not a Porch...its a Ferrari !!!!! Older than dirt....I know.

Black rat snakes don't have stripes...more like just bands that are darker. Not sure about down your way but up here they are a protected species.

Another new way to mount stuff on a 1st gen handlebar.
Trader replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
that looks so much neater than mounting the GPS holder onto the bars with electrical tape! I WANT A COUPLE OF SNAGGLESTUDS!!!! How much and how long? -
I got ithe Ride Like A Pro III DVD today. Looking forward to viewing it over the weekend! Fuzzy bought a copy for himself so I'll be mailing it to Dave, probably Monday. I've updated the List, (Post # 15) Don, you would want to send your snail mail address to Albyzee - Alby. He's the one above you on the list. Dogman....watch for it ...hopefully by mid week!

If after a fair number of attempts to rectify the situation, perhaps such deliquent sellers (or buyers) should be identified as a warning to the rest of us. Obviously as a last resort.

As is so often the case it's not going down that hurts you so much....it's what you hit as you are sliding or rolling. I was a passenger on my buddies bike when we went down on a major highway, wrong place at wrong time, we were "collateral damage" from another crash. I was OK....my buddy died from hitting a sign post as he rolled. Glad Lil Ventureous is OK....hope he's up and about ASAP.

Even the hum-drum is better when you can acomplish it on a bike. I had to ride into the city yesterday, pick up the rent from the tenants and deposit into the bank. About 30 min ride, then another 10 or so to the bank, then home. Same road I take most times. Same old, same old. It was GREAT!

1st Gen front end "rebound"
Trader replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for your responses so far....but to be sure you folks understand my situation I'm talking about a SIDEWAYS wiggle, not vertical. Like I said....if I give the front end a good shake, it seems as if the torque travels down the forks and then back up and gives the handlebars a bit of a shake like an echo. I'm just replaced ( and of course greased) the neck bearings when I did the progressives over the winter. The Electric Anti Dive is disconnected. I'm going to check the tightness of everything. It seems odd cause it handles so well. You would think if something was loose it would have a shimmy in the corners. -
My bike is handling very well since I put progressives and the Condor Brace on it. BUT.....today I noticed something I have never noticed before and I'm wondering if I have a problem or if it is normal. I was at a full stop. I gave the handle bars a "shake" back and forth...as if I was trying to shaking water off the front tire. Just very quick jerk to left and back to center. The front end felt like it "rebounded" As if I gave it a twist that went down the forks and then after I stopped, it came back up the forkss and gave a bit of an "echo" shake! Like I said....it's handling really well!!!!! Condor Brace is tight, neck bearing bounce test looks good....Not sure what else it could be? Is this normal???

Riding home tonight and had a close call. I was doing about 55mph and a pickup was at the stop sign on the side road to my right. He was waiting to turn left which would have put him across my path. As I approached the intersection,He started to pull out in front of me I "wiggled" as per a recent posting here and he saw me and stopped. At least I assume it was the wiggle that caused me to be seen. Whatever....thankfully he stopped!

What size do I need for my 88? If I just get the size off my 404s would it be the same? I want to go with venoms. I figure I'll buy a set and get them installed stateside...should be a LOT cheaper. Any recommendations as to where I can get them? I guess I'd be looking at the Eastern part of NY...Watertown? I'm hoping to ride down, get them installed and ride back. I'd arrange it for Don's MD but I can't get there this year due to scheduling conflicts!

Young Ladys Bucket List
Trader replied to bostonlawman2003's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Obviously this is to support the parents...not for the child. But I agree....it might be a bit traumatic for a baby! -

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Take em to a pharmacy and let them dispose of them. I don't know what they do with them but at least it won't lead to men growing breasts or other results of drinking water contaminated with hormones and other drugs!!!!

side stand switch
Trader replied to reddevilmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My Bad. I went looking and found several threads suggesting that cleaning the switch might solve the problem you are having...but nothing actually showing the "how to". Never done it...but probably not a big deal. -
I'd go back to 1980 or so and go visit a guy called Gates and offer some financial support to his new venture! (and I ain't talking about no bike!!)

side stand switch
Trader replied to reddevilmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I seem to remember a thread on cleaning it....probably the problem. Unless you've damaged the wire(s) somehow. -
We've been watching "Heartland"...Canadian dude ranch series. They have the first 4 years on Netflix. It's nice to watch a TV show with no commercials! Lots of old english type movies also (Jayne Ayer, North/South etc) Only thing I have found is when there is a lot of action/high speed, once in a while and not very often) the picture gets a bit pixillated. There are great documentaries also. For $8 you can't beat it.
