It might be a blessing in disguise. The metal will extend over the evestrough a little. Water will still drop into the trough, but perhaps snow and ice will slide right over it without ripping it off!

WOW!!!! on both counts! Amazing that in both cases they survived! The moose car was just fortunate the impact was not more on the drivers side...but surviving the nose/tail rollover was probably the result of good engineering.

What had me confused is the pump WAS clicking and shutting off. I would start the bike it would rev up once and die. So I guess it had enough fuel flow to get up to pressure...but not enough to keep it running. UNLESS as I asked, it is possible that it was electrical all along???? Bob.....I will be at Carl's Friday night if everything works out.

It sounds like the bike is not the only thing whose circuit is short a fuse or two! It would be even funnier if I hadn't done so many similar things myself!

I was all packed up, helmet on and ready to go. Planned on an all day ride up to Ottawa for a new car-topper for the trailer, then down to Cornwall to pick up a set of carbs on the rack I had bought from Thirdbike. I kissed my wife goodbye....turned the key and ....NOTHING! I was up late last night playing with the running lights and I guess I killed the battery. "no problem" I thought, Just boost it off the car and I'll be on my way....a minor delay. Not so! It would not run. I could get it to fire, but it would rev up and die. It wouldn't stay running! Now I know my battery and charging system is OK because I NEVER have issues under normal operating. I suspected fuel delivery... I opened the one screw all the way out thinking it was the drain ...(it was the one that usually is 2 1/2 turns out) but no gas came out. I opened up one carb and removed the slider and diaphram to check and as I tried to start it I couldn't see any fuel misting in there or any other indication it was getting fuel. (Is that even a way to tell?) I checked the fuel filter. (What a pain to get to!) Sure enough when I blew it out I THINK a slug of something came out. I felt something bounce off my hand but it might even have just been a drop of gas. ( As gas was pouring out of the bike I realized I should have turned off the fuel supply first!!!) I charged up the battery while I was working and once I got it all back together I went for a ride for over an hour and it ran just fine. So now I don't know for sure if it was the fuel filter, or if the dead battery could have prevented it from running somehow. I had it connected to the car battery (car not running) so I have to believe it was the filter was plugged. Any thoughts?

So where is it that you are wanted? Why else would you be concerned? Or are you just shy?

Many places "managed" when the power blackout happened in Aug about 6-7 years ago. No lights=4 way stop. If everyone goes by that it works very well.

38 years ago I was riding as passenger on my buddy's Kawi Z-900. He was riding like a maniac, Speeding big time, riding on the white line between cars, on the shoulder, zigging and zagging thru traffic etc. But then he settled down and had been riding responsibly for about 10 minutes when the accident happened that put us down and killed him. Not his fault at all. It's how you are riding AT THE MOMENT that has any bearing. -
I replied to Bob that 4" would be about right...but actually I think I would prefer a shorter set. Or if possible, just one.

If I could find all the parts again :confused24:I'd be sailing right along! I keep stealing nuts and bolts off my 83...it's supposed to be a project bike...not a parts bike! but should have it all put back together tonight.

I did manage to move the rad enough to get the collector out. I got an almost new one from a member here last year...so I'm getting it put back in. About half way done on the reinstall now. (Yes I work VERY slowly)

Hey Yammer!!!!! Don't worry.....I think he's just showing off!!

OK so it was bound to happen. My 88 collector, which had been repaired by the PO rotted out at the weld. I have it all unbolted and I have the new(used) one ready to go in. BUT....How can I get the front headers off without removing the rad etc. From this thread it looks like I should be able to. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1002 But I don't see how it's possible. it doesn't look like you can move the header far enough forward to get it out because the rad is in the way...and I can't move the rad without draining it because the lower hose is too restrictive. Any suggestions?

Never mind the membership fee....if we are all honest about it this site would probably be self sufficient just thru the drop fees! I know when I first got mine I was a healthy supporter!

Black rat snakes don't have stripes...more like just bands that are darker. Not sure about down your way but up here they are a protected species.

Trader replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole

I got ithe Ride Like A Pro III DVD today. Looking forward to viewing it over the weekend! Fuzzy bought a copy for himself so I'll be mailing it to Dave, probably Monday. I've updated the List, (Post # 15) Don, you would want to send your snail mail address to Albyzee - Alby. He's the one above you on the list. Dogman....watch for it ...hopefully by mid week!

If after a fair number of attempts to rectify the situation, perhaps such deliquent sellers (or buyers) should be identified as a warning to the rest of us. Obviously as a last resort.

As is so often the case it's not going down that hurts you so much....it's what you hit as you are sliding or rolling. I was a passenger on my buddies bike when we went down on a major highway, wrong place at wrong time, we were "collateral damage" from another crash. I was OK....my buddy died from hitting a sign post as he rolled. Glad Lil Ventureous is OK....hope he's up and about ASAP.
