NP Just trying to help! I wish I was going!

if the timing is such that you really need the Tims in Dunnville, you can stay on Hwy 3 thru town to the Tims...then turn right on Taylor Rd (runs between Tim's and Sobey's) it will take you right back to the Lakeshore Rd (about 1/4 mile or less!) ...turn left and you are back on track.
-
That's what I said...you would bypass it...not pass by it!
-
I believe most folks on this site recommend 20 lbs tongue weight on the bikes. (at least for the HF tag along trailers) I've done very little trailering so far...and usually very light loads

In Dunnville, Hwy 3 takes a sharp left at the high school (there's a Park on left). Instead of turning left and following #3, just go straight and follow your nose. That route will still take you thru Lowbanks and you will follow the lakeshore. It will take you by some wind turbines. It might be cooler by the lake (if it's a real hot day) and for sure more scenic. Time difference is slightly longer....only by a few minutes mostly because of a few sections with lower speed limits.. Follow the Lakeshore to Golf Club Road which will take you back to #3 just W of Port Colbourne. You would bypass the Tim's in Dunnville. You can see the road I'm talking about in your Mapquest link

28 years ago I was a passenger on a buddy's bike and we got caught up in an accident on the highway. I remember hearing Lots of squealing rubber all around us. My buddy was killed. He hit a 4x4 sign post and was dead before we got to the hospital. It took me about 2 years to stop tensing up every time I heard squealing tires...either from braking or acceleration.

My 83 didn't. Doesn't make sense that it would! -
Riding beside Paysaw and his Honda ST1000 I could not believe how quiet it was! It could have been an electric bike! I like to hear a LITTLE...but certainly not of the window rattling type!......although I did have a straight thru 4 into 1 set up on my 83 900 Seca years ago. But that was short lived. It was a full race set up that was just TOO loud.

Mostly 80 km (50mph) all the way if you stay on Hwy 3. Much more scenic than the 401 403 or QEW

Gear Sensor

The dealer told me the plastic piece with the contacts for gear indicator was no longer available. I just bought a new tip and spring....I think it cost me $10.....but haven't installed it yet. -
Not to defend the bad guys...but at what point does it stop being self defense? They were falling all over themselves trying to get away, they ran out of the shop, one guy was on the ground and the old man was still shooting!

Rear Cylinders dead.
Trader replied to mechanic1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Camerojunkie85...are you having any issues with your tach? I seem to remember someone saying that misfire problems with the #1 cyl along with tach problems indicates TCI problems. I might have it all screwed up...ANYONE??? HELP! -
Are you saying that is all they are willing to PAY you for your bike????....Or is that how much you have to pay to get the bike back. To get the bike back for $300 seems pretty good....tires are probably worth 1/2 that at least and I'm sure there are other parts you can use on your "new" VR.

It did so good for my bike I used it on my lawn mower and weed trimmer. Ran much better after!

Fingeer Lakes of NY then head to 1000 Islands in Brockville to Kingston. Take Hwy 15 to Ottawa, follow #7 to Peterborough then on to Tobormorry...take the Chechemin ferry to Manitoulin Island, get off the north end of the island and head west to Sault Ste Marie and cross into Michagan. I've done all of that route at different times (except cross into the US from Sault Ste Marie. I looped around back east from there. I've ridden from Chicago to the southern tier of NY.... I thnk that would be a great ride!

"it would have been like sitting on floor and bending forward to touch your toes." How long has it been since you last touched your toes?

Lots of walking in the heat....lots and lots of harleys (yawn) But I got a PINK SHIRT out of the deal! It's a vest or undershirt style, got a rose and sparkley letters....probably for a 12 year old! Eat your heart out guys! It sort of fits Yvette....But she wouldn't let me take a picture of it on her! She said she will think of Carl when she wears it in bed! Wonder what she means by that? Carl was walking down the street and there was a cute young thing getting her picture taken by her man. Carl spun around and put his head right in beside hers with perfect timing for the picture, then without saying a word, just spun around again and continued on his way. I told the girl " I guess there's one in every crowd!....well maybe Two!" as I put my arm around her and posed for another picture! She was friendly enough....leaned towards Carl and me for both for our pictures. Gotta wonder what her BF thought! LOL

Shame you didn't make it! We could have met up in Kingston and rode down together. Well....I left the house at 6:00 am and stayed off the superslab for at least 1/2 the distance to Toronto (I went Hwy#7 to Peterborough then 135 to 401) Met up with Paysaw in Mississauga at about 9:15 then about an hour and 1/2 to MarCarl's place. Once Carl finished putting pieces back on his bike that had fallen off we were ready to go. (I shouldn't be so mean...Carl found I had a screw loose.....and it might even have been from the bike!) on the way to Port Dover we stopped to visit with a friend of Ray's. Finally got to Port Dover about 1:15 and walked....and walked....and walked. Sure were a LOT of bikes!!!!!! we walked a lot....and there were a lot of bikes! I heard estimates of over 150,000 people and at least 10,000 bikes! We were at Tim's for 2:00 but didn't see anybody...and for all those thousands of bikes we only saw one other 1st gen!. Carl couldn't remember where we parked the bikes (you know what it's like when you get old!) so we walked so more....and then some more ("Hmm....Lets try down this road"......but I helped him out. He bought me a pretty pink shirt for Friday 13th. But that's a whole other story! Ray had to leave us early. We eventually found the bikes after a walking tour most of the side streets of Port Dover (did I mention the walking....and every street was lined with bikes!) Took the scenic route back from Port Dover to Waterdown (North of Burlington) which took (about 21/2 hours) and then went for supper. From there, Carl went his way and I went mine. Rode the 401 all the way to Kingston (at least I didn't have to walk!...but there was still A LOT of bikes on the road!) Got Home about 10:30 p.m. So I was gone for about 16 1/2 hours and spent at least 12 hours riding. Total mileage was just a hair under 600 miles. First thing I did when I got in the house was baby powder you know where! I'll never make an iron butt!!!

Looks like just the 3 of us riding together...but hope to meet others at Tim's at 2:00. Everybody knows Carl...So watch for us! I"Il be wearing my "indiana jones" style hat.
-
Pawsaw, Marcarl and I will be there! I guess it is a regular thing to meet at Tim's at 2:00 If we are not on the bikes, I will be wearing a fedora ( an Indiana Jones type hat) Would be cool to meet. Shouldn't be hard...what maybe 10,000 people??? Piece of cake~

guess I shouldn't spend time editing a post in an active thread!!!!! Look at my last post again for suggestion on hose. I just ordered a carbtune....my homemade guage set just bounces too much to be of any use.
