Long Distance Riding - Part Three: Time for a Ride Report
Trader replied to twigg's topic in Watering Hole
Why the overheating? Was the fan not working? Or was that even with the fan??? (I'm not used to Texas heat up here) -
The weather last night said that a cool front from the Canadian Prairies will come sweeping across and meet up with the storm...which will "re-energize" it just as it hits N.Y. It was BEAUTIFUL here yesterday. Sunny and warm. I wanted to bail on my work and go riding so bad!!!!! Probably won't see any more like that this year.

May I be the first to suggest it? SEAFOAM! Give it a good heavy dose, then change the plugs. It does wonders on the carbs- 7 replies

Knowledge is the result of gaining of information Wisdom is knowing the best application of that information. I saw it on the forum here..... knowledge is knowing it is a one way street. Wisdom is looking both ways anyway!

I've been "commuting" about 1/2 hour once in a while as I work on our rental property. about 35 min up a major road...pretty ho hum after awhile but still better than a cage! Still some leaves on the trees....when the sun shines its downright nice out there!

I got a Drift. It's a "clear out" but at $99 that's fine. I haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet....but it seems OK. Like I said .....the price is right.

I like coffee....but instant is good enough. I like music too.....but listening to it on a 30 year old radio with crappy speakers is good enough! What can I say....I settle easy. ...except on my choice of wife...for that choice only the best would do!

Poor Running issue??
Trader replied to af226's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You can do a lot with the carbs still on the bike. Remove the diaphrams and sliders and the drain plugs. Carb cleaner and compressed air in every opening and orifice you can find. 50/50 sea foam/gas treatment is another idea. There are threads on how. -
I'm wired and lit up and registered to be that way

You only need one mud flap....license plate will serve as the other one. -
I remember reading an interview with one of the original Apollo astronauts. He said that NASA was money concious....and how it was a little un-nerving thinking that he was sitting on top of a rocket so many feet long containing the explosive power of so many atomic bombs, designed to reach a speed of so many thousand miles an hour controlled by huge amounts of computers and electronics....the failure of any of which could lead to catastrophic failure and death. AND IT WAS ALL BUILT BY THE LOWEST BIDDER!!!!!!

I wonder if falling from that height was any different speed wise. If I remember my physics correctly, you reach a maximum falling speed right? Is terminal velocity the same further away from the gravity of the earth? Would air density make a difference? Did he jump from the maximum height the balloon could reach? If not....why not? His launch capsule looked a lot more complicated than I would think was neccessary. He was in a space suit....all he needed was a lawn chair and a radio:whistling:

You've been hanging around with the Dutchman too much. That $6 difference would just eat him up! Especially now that he has a new bike to fix up!

I have an HF trailer with nothing more than two 2x4s across the bed to mount the box on. I'm pretty sure the tongue is standard length. It pulls great...except I think I have to replace one tire because once I hit about 55 mph it starts to bounce a bit. I have been told they cannot be balanced by several different shops Next trip to HF. Too much up here.

Whenever I'm in a parking lot my head is swivelling back and forth ALL THE TIME! you have to check the traffic lanes, for people cutting across lanes, people cutting thru parking spots, backing out of parking spots and ANY MOVEMENT of ANY KIND!!! That includes pedestrians, bicycles and powered wheelchairs. What is a concern is (I have been told) that parking lots are private property so the police don't get involved in accidents because the rules of the road don't apply.

At first I thought maybe there was just confusion as to which is which...month/day/year or day/month year 4/10/12 or 10/04/12...but that doesn't explain why an email would go out early.

I have Win Vista Home Premium installed on my PC which is a Acer Aspire M5200. It says I have Phenom 9550 quad core processor 2.2 Ghz 64 bit I use Google Chrome mostly but also have IE 9.0.3 64 bit edition Here's the problems I'm having. Lately it wants to "Scandisk" about every 2nd or 3rd time I boot up. PLUS, I believe this is a 2nd unrelated issue.....windows update tries to update but fails everytime...then has to undo and reset and it sometimes takes me 15 min just to turn the darn thing on!!!!! Any suggestions?

sorry...picture didn't come thru. I'm thinking if they are front running lights....mounted on the crash bars or horn brackets, then maybe the PO wired them directly in with the headlights. If you can't find a switch anywhere, then all you can do is start tracing wires and using a tester.
-
Aux. lights are after market items so the switch could be anywhere. are you talking about aux headlights? or aux tail lights or what?
