For sure use USPS if possible. The couriers charge a huge "customs brokerage" fee that could be 1/2 the price of the shipping plus taxes and duty. Depending on where in Canada you might ship to a US member close to the border and have the person pick it up themselves.

For those of you old enough to remember Red Skelton, I think you will enjoy this . For those of you not old enough you will see what you missed. Either way, his humour was always clean and he was a great entertainer. A re-run of great 'one liner's' from the man who was known for his clean humour. RED SKELTON'S RECIPE FOR THE PERFECT MARRIAGE 1. Two times a week we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage, good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays, I go on Fridays. 2. We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California , and mine is in Texas .. 3. I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps finding her way back. 4. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said. So I suggested the kitchen. 5. We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops. 6. She has an electric blender, electric toaster and electric bread maker. She said "There are too many gadgets, and no place to sit down!" So I bought her an electric chair. 7. My wife told me the car wasn't running well because there was water in the carburetor. I asked where the car was. She told me, "In the lake." 8. She got a mud pack and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off. 9. She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, "Am I too late for the garbage?" The driver said, "No, jump in!". 10. Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce. 11. I married Miss Right. I just didn't know her first name was ' Always'. 12. I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months. I don't like to interrupt her. 13. The last fight was my fault though. My wife asked, "What's on the TV?" I said, "Dust!". Can't you just hear him say all of these? I love it. These were the good old days when humour didn't have to start with a four letter word. It was just clean and simple fun. And he always ended his programs with the words, "And May God Bless" with a big smile on his face

Those 30 year old tools may be of much higher quality steel than newer ones. If they are 30 year old "Shopsmith" lathe chisels...they are a pretty good quality tool. They may need sharpening but investigate before you replace them.

"obvious"....you mean like Oklahoma? There is nothing obvious! It happened on tax day it might be some disgruntled American "protesting" taxes. Regardless.....a horrible event and proof we need a higher power to step in and fix this old world!

I've had a shopsmith for about 30 years. I also got the bandsaw and 4" jointer attachments It's a great machine and my only complaints are: 1) there is not enough table area (later models had more....but I could buy the larger tables) 2) the headstock revs much too slowly for the router option to be used....it feels like it's taking chunks out of the material

I had the same call. From what I understand they say "We've found the problem" while they install a virus of some sort....but then charge hundreds of dollars to "fix" the problem.

Rebuilding 1983 Venture Royal

You can get a repair manual on this site. Under the "Forum" link on the menu bar , go to "Tech Library" then "First Gen" then "Guides". you will see the service manual there. Lots of help here...happy wrenching! -
Exactly the same as what I had on my bike in the fall of 2011 Ever since I got it, It would only idle when choke was on. MarCarl was helping me with it and we did a complete on-the-bike carb clean. When we went to set it up after, we couldn't get any vacuum at idle to sync carbs. I can't remember for sure....but I thought it was Squid that Carl called with the problem....maybe it was Dingy. Anyway...if I remember right... we got a reasonable sync at higher rev's and got me back on the road. I've been seafoaming it regularly since and it runs just fine! I bought a carb tune and am going to do it again soon.

congrats on the new to you bike. As we get older many feel the need to slow down.

I'm the youngest of 3 boys. I retired early at age 52....just about the same time as my youngest...my daughter was getting married. When I commented to Dad about feeling old because my Baby was getting married, he said, " never mind! My baby is retiring!" I guess it's all relative!

I've heard of it raining cats and dogs.....but not turkeys!!!! Sounds like an episode of "WKRP in Cincinnati" Here's a couple of shots of Friday around here. (not taken while on the bike)

I've had requests from "God fearing co-worker of Christ" who was selling the vehicle to help finance his ministry deep in the Amazon......same scam but different strings used to tug on the ol' heart.

Repositioning CDI '88VR
Trader replied to Peder_y2k's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
most common is to move it to the top of the air breather box. Out of the heat and water....and convenient to do any work if needed. When I did mine the wires were such that I just "flipped" it up and over. You may have to cut off one of the mounting tabs to allow it to sit far enough forward so the false tank cover will clear. -
Well.....its official....I'm now an orphan! Dad died 10:55 last night. Even though I have only "met" most of you online....I really appreciate the thoughts and prayers from my venture family. Thanks to all of you for your support. Even though Dad was not religious, I reminded him he WILL see Mum and us too in the resurrection that is promised us.

Just spent a LONG night sitting with my Dad and my brothers. I came home tonight....but pretty much just waiting for the call to say he's gone. He was diagnosed with esophagus cancer about 6 months ago and it's run it's course. He is at home and comfortable.....and I guess that's what matters. We were going to transfer him to a home as he was just getting to be too much to care for....but now he's got a catheter and is basically comatose, he doesn't need much care so we are letting him die at home. He asked my sister to shave off his beard because Mom wouldn't like it! ( she died 3 years ago) He's one month short of 85 and told me he's OK with it....he's ready. Said my goodbye's today and although we think he had a stroke and can't speak, he wakes for about 10 seconds when we "roll" him and he gave me thumbs up. My sister soaked his dentures in single malt and that put a smile on his face! He's not religious....so he wouldn't appreciate my asking for your prayers....but good thoughts can't hurt! hmmm.....60 years old and crying like a baby
