A super brace on the forks makes a big difference in handling also. When I did mine I found it stopped it from "snaking" in tight corners at speed.

Always a good idea to check the tech library. There is a lot of info there. Heres a tutorial on changing the clutch slave. It speaks of first gen but it is pretty much identical other than foot pegs etc. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=103415&d=1454895230

Nope...straight exchange of springs and spacer...no need to touch seals or anything else

Sorry guys...I didn't see your responses. I don't know why it worked...all I know is that it did

I had exactly the same problem after I did my clutch and the shift segment upgrade. It turned out that the clutch push rod was extending on its own ...(just from residual pressure???) I tried to crack the bleeder and push the rod back in...but by the time I got the clutch back in and tightened up the rod was extended again and the clutch was frozen. It seems simple but it took awhile to figure out he answer. We put the clutch together AGAIN but this time we loosened the bleeder while we tightened the spring. That allowed the residual pressure to be released. Then once the clutch was in, we just had to bleed it and everything was good! Rocket came up and helped me for a day and we figured it out!

R6 Brake Upgrade Issue
Trader replied to bobber's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You didn't mention front or rear being the problem. If it is the rear is it possible that the alignment is off because you installed the spacing washer on the wrong side? That seems to be a common mistake. -
You mean you all actually have room in your garage to park the bike? I can hardley move in mine!

Too many of us live this life......Even being retired I find I'm falling prey to this. I'm in a hurry to get things done Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun All I really gotta do is live and die But I'm in a hurry and don't know why. Don't know why I have to drive so fast My car has nothing to prove It's not new But it'll do 0 to 60 in 5.2. Oh I'm in a hurry to get things done Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun All I really gotta do is live and die But I'm in a hurry and don't know why. Can't be late I leave plenty of time Shaking hands with the clock I can't stop I'm on a roll and I'm ready to rock. I'm in a hurry to get things done Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun All I really gotta do is live and die But I'm in a hurry and don't know why.

WELCOME TO THE MAD HOUSE!!!!! By any chance did you happen to wash that new puppy before your ride when it acted up? These old bikes don't react well to a lot of water. A lot of folks will take the TCI and mount it on top of the air filter box just behind the air intake . There is plenty of wire to allow you to do that. You will have to trim off a mounting tab so it can move far enough forward for your false tank cover to fit on properly. This also gets it away from the heat of the motor and hopefully will prolong it's life. Like someone already said....one symptom for your TCI is acting up is that it could affect your tach. Seafoam is great. After you give it a good strong dose I put a few ounces in the gas about every 4-5 tanks just to keep things clean. I've never put it in the oil... I have heard some people claim that it cleans things up so well it might start leaking oil...I've read about that problem with power flushes for motor and tranny that oil change places try to sell. Pay the $12 and sign up! You'll save a heck of a lot more than than in repair bills To own a bike that is pushing 30 years old you have to be willing to learn and do your own wrenching. I am NOT mechanically inclined. Other than swapping out parts I never really got into the nuts and bolts of ANYTHING! But thanks to YouTube and mostly to the folks on this site I've done a lot of MAJOR work on my bike...including wiring issues. right now I'm in the middle of removing valves!!!!! (I would never have believed it before!!!) Don't forget to put what year/ model of bike you have in your profile. It helps us to know what you have when you asking questions....and just so you know....there is no such thing as stupid questions.

89 has an oil leak
Trader replied to frankd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Might be a stupid idea...but have you guys checked that the vent tubes are not your issue? I'm thinking that if you over filled the oil...or if you have blow by or something like that that the vent tubes could be leaking oil....and if not routed correctly perhaps ending up on top of the collector????? Just an uneducated flyer -
Got them...thanks! One good tip I got to check if valves are sealing properly was to just pour cleaning solution down the intake or exhaust port. If it leaks then it's not sealing. But I guess that method would only work if the valve is installed with springs etc. There may not be enough pressure to test that way if they are just sitting loose in the seat.

Well I went to my local dealer and asked them how to remove the oil seals etc. I spoke to the owner who has been wrenching bikes for 35 years and he said he has NEVER had to do any valve work on one of these motors! He said just to drive the valve down with a dowel or something similar. He offered me a bugandy '85 (not royale) that has sat in his shop for 3 years. He wants $1000 but that's too much
