Hi buddy! So are is the majority of the festivities at the resort...or the campground?
-
Yep....from Bomanville you want the 401. (In Ontario the major highways are all 400 series numbers) Choices, as they come.... Depending on the time of day (NOT rush hour!!!) you could take the 409-Don Valley Parkway and (Queensway???-elevated highway) to the QEW and pass close to downtown Toronto and right beside the CN Tower and Air Canada Center (Maple Leafs-Raptors) and Roger's Center(Blue Jays). If you don't care about seeing downtown at all then you can take .... 401 to 427. That is pretty much directly S. to QEW . Not scenic I Usually go 401 past the Toronto International Airport and catch the 403. It angles SW towards the QEW....other than the airport traffic...not much to see. Then the QEW to Lewiston, Niagra or Fort Erie or wherever you decide to cross.

OK.....no room in the garage.....and the bike is outside. I"ll check it in the morning. what should I expect if it is good vs bad?

OK Jeff, I am assuming the way I had it wired is just an alternative method and is fine. The tests you want me to run ... probe on neg. terminal and check all 4 pins on relay AND the test between 85 and 87 ....is this with the relay disconnected from everything or wired up as per post #1? If connected, switched power on or off?
-
OK...now I'm really confused....see page 10 of the pdf attached to this posting from Dingy. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68952

no"+" marking on the relay... shows "0" both ways not sure I understand this. Did you want me to touch the black lead of the tester on the RELAY battery negative (post 85) or do you mean to Connect a wire to from # 85(GND) to the BATTERY ground post and then check the other 3? What setting would I use for either scenario?
-
given the connections as in my OP.....If....when the switch is on, I have NO power going to #30 post is dead...does that mean the relay is shot? EDIT: I did try reversing outside connections
-
OK....I hope you are talking about the RETURN trip you are crossing at Niagara? Cause if you are talking about taking #2 around from Burlington to Bomanville you are going to take FOREVER! It's like City driving the whole way. going west on #2 from Gananoque to Bomanville is different. Still lots of towns to slow you down...but no comparison to coming east from Burlington

driving range 226 miles????? I get about 140!

I keep blowing fuses! Note : running lights alone do not blow fuse.....Driving lights alone do. it's the first 10 amp fuse....the ACC fuse. I'm sure it's because of my driving lights....but I don't understand why! The driving lights are connect as follows. Relay #87 Direct from+ post of battery, 15 a fused line...which doesn't blow Relay # 30 to driving lights (which are grounded to frame) Relay # 85 goes to ground on terminal block Relay # 86 goes to one end of switch Ground to battery post goes to other end of switch (this ground is shared with a 2nd switch using the ACC circuit..that runs the rear running lights ..but it doesn't blow fuses itself. Keyed power (off ACC terminal block) goes to center of 3 terminal switch. When the fuse goes, the only other thing I see that doesn't work is the resistor circuit bypass so it starts showing the CMU alarm for the battery sensor. Any suggestions? This is driving me nuts!

pm me when you get close....I might just join you for the ride. I could meet you at the border crossing or in Kingston.
-
Well that just sucks! Hope it works out for you. 90% sounds pretty good. A positive attitude is half the battle.
-
Congrats on the new ride Don! One problem IT DOESN'T HAVE A CASSETTE DECK!!!!!! somehow I now feel as if I need a shower:whistling:
-
Nope...not Marcarl...no flag posts but I didn't notice if it had the stainless lower filler bits. I would hope Carl would have told me if he was coming up this way. I've promised to show him some real good riding roads.

Yesterday (Sat July 20) we were in Westport (ON) and saw a brown '85 Royale parked on a side road a block or so from the main strip. Anyone here?
-
You gotta know I was VERY tempted to give it a good boot and cave in the side of her car as she passed me. But Like I said I was too busy putting some space between us in case she lost it on the gravel. And that wouldn't be very Christian of me either. If there was an icon of the little spaceman that used to get mad at Bugs bunny I would insert it here!

Clearing out 1st gen parts

If your bike is a standard the wiring harness is different from a Royale so you need a lot more than just the radio and cb....like amplifier etc DItto on the cruise. you need a few more bits and pieces than just the dash! -
The whole family loaded up and went for a picnic. It was a beautiful day for riding! One dog in each saddlebag and the little one between us in a chest pack although she spends more time riding on my shoulder! Don't worry.....all were tethered for safety! I generally ride close to the center line but within the left hand tire track. We were riding along #7 highway...which a generous 2 lanes with a passing zone every few miles. It is an 80 km zone...I think I was doing 90 or so with the cruise set. I noticed the car behind us climbing up on my butt so I flashed my brake lights to tell them to get off my rear. Next thing the car is right up VERY CLOSE and trying to pass me on the right. The idiot had to have 2 wheels on the soft shoulder to do it! I swerved to the left and quickly slowed down just to avoid a problem If the jerk decided to lose it from hitting the shoulder I didn't want to be right beside them! Once the scare was over then I got upset! What the heck was SHE thinking? ( a young oriental ....20 something?) I gassed it and pulled up beside her window (I was in the oncoming lane but no traffic was coming) I starting yelling at her and gesturing wildly. She probably didn't understand what I was yelling over the bike and the closed window and all....but she got the point I'm sure. I hit the gas and pulled ahead of her and RESUMED my cruise. I noticed she kept well back this time. My wife said maybe she was just learning to drive....but if so, then her teacher should be shot, drawn and quartered and urinated upon...not necessarily in that order! Maybe I need to start riding more to the right edge of the left track to remove that temptation?

First time I ever took my wife for a ride on my 500 Suzuki we went for a slide. 32 years ago.....And yeah.....I still hear about it every time I "enjoy" a few corners.
