  1. Did you try Brofasco? just a thought.
  2. 4...but one is for sale if you're interested!
  3. good on ya! I"d love one of those. Instead, I got one of those "2 sec." tents to go in my HF trailer.
  4. It took me a all day but I finally got the rear tire changed and balanced (2 different places) then I got the splines greased, the pads reversed, re-installed the wheel and put in new oil too. I also had to re-install the cooler rack on my trailer.(that was all of 15 min!) I would have saved a lot of time if I had a memory. I was trying to put the stepped washer on the drive side ...Couldn't understand why the pumpkin wouldn't close up! it just fit on the wheel on the drive side so nicely I didn't try moving that washer to the rotor side for quite awhile...I thought maybe there was some trick to get the splines to match up and slide in! Plus after a whole lot of frustration I realized that there are 2 different size washers. One, the axle slides thru, which goes on the rotor side..the other only the threaded part fits, which goes on the drive side. (the exploded view in the manual doesn't really show things very clearly.) I wonder if I was to write up a revision to the procedure in the library pointing out such things if a Moderator would install it for future newbies. Experience is a wonderful teacher. I'm sure next time I will remember those things. (I think I'll have nightmares about it!!!!!!) Thanks for all the help from folks here too! Got at least $6.00 worth today alone! See you in Galina!! Leaving tomorrow afternoon.
  5. OMG!!!! and they say there is no stupid questions!!! That's what I mean about a memory....by the time I got into the house and onto the computer I "forgot" the swing arm only goes to one side! That's so bad it's embarrassing! should be able to figure it out from here!
  6. Thanks Stan.....I printed that out from the manual...but it doesn't specify where the swingarm is in the whole assembly. Thanks Michael is it located in the same position on the drive side? I thought there was a difference Departure is about 20 hours!
  7. Man I wish I had a memory. on the 88 Do the washers go between the wheel hub and the swingarm or on the outside of the swing arm against the head/nut?
  8. Thanks Joe!!!! Looks like I should even be able to do it. Leaving for Galena tomorrow early afternoon.. One more question....I noticed one brake pad is worn more than the other. Is it the MK II that you can just reverse one pad for the other?
  9. I remember hearing about one of the astronauts who went to the moon. He said it was a scary thought that they were sitting on top of more power than several atomic bombs used in WWII, controlled by many computers, built with thousands of intricate parts....all supplied by the LOWEST BIDDER!!!!!
  10. OK...now to grease the splines do I have to remove a circlip or something? Can I do that with needlenose whithout screwing anything up? (I don't have a ring clip tool) Can anybody point me to a "how to" thread" I saw my 88 is lubed by the oil....so I only have to grease what I see ???(driveshaft and
  11. Is the rear wheel stripped down enough for a tire change or do I need to remove the "Hub" (see attached) You can also see why I am changing the tire!!!!
  12. Great....got the electrical gremlins fixed (I hope) and checked out the tires.....my rear tire is cracking and worn!!!!!! So, I've got a good tire on my 83. Can I just change the rotor and mount the GenI rear wheel or do I have to get the Mk I tire off and re-installed on the Mk II rim? No time or money for new tires! I'm leaving in about 36 hours Anybody know a good tire shop in Galina?
  13. Wow...I over torqued the screw holding the shift indicator plate and cracked it....but it still doesn't leak! Sure it's not something else? (Slave Cyl seal?)
  14. an 89 is still a First Gen....but Mark II (83-85 are Mark I) A lot of parts are inter-changable but there are quite a few differences
  15. Couple of thoughts..... I USED to have a "hobby" sign shop...and although I never got into graphic printing I did a little vinyl work and I remember a few little bits about it. Mind you...that was going on 10 years ago now so technology might have changed. -If you are going with solid color then most 2ml vinyl is rated for 7 years -If you decide to go with graphics, then make sure that it is printed on a SOLVENT type printer. Some shops use ECO-SOL or even ink jet and spray a UV protectant over it. It won't last ...Ink jet will start to fade within a couple of years. Installation requires heating and stretching the vinyl to conform to corners without leaving huge wrinkles or bubbles, plus the normal squeegeeing to apply it. It is best left to the pros! Not that you would use it....but the "one way see thru" wraps are just perforated vinyl over the glass areas
  16. So fast you go back in time????? Dan's time is actually 2020
  17. That there is one of those ID-Ten-T errors.
  18. Over 14,000 Views !!!
  19. I THINK it was a bad ground. To be honest, I was trying to clean up the neg. terminal and forgot to reconnect a ground from the ACC. terminals. So I guess it was finding another route to ground and blowing a fuse? That's the only thing I can see that I did different. It was odd.....it was OK when I turned the switch on....but blew the fuse when I turned it off. ???????????????????????
  20. Gee....he don't look 70!
  21. Hey Seinfeild made a career out of "nothing really" Today, I was continuing my saga of tracking down wiring woes. I finally got the driving lights working without blowing fuses...but the "illuminated" light switch refuses to illuminate I'll buy another tomorrow (again!) and try that. At least I'm confident I have it all wired properly now. Note to self: winter project- WIRING....neaten it up and sort color coding, label etc. It's a real mess in there. I had to run to the store....about 40 min away so I just "sort of" put the top cover back on the left side of the fairing and headed down the road without the false tank cover on either. I was amazed at how much heat came up into my face without it!
  22. Hi buddy! So are is the majority of the festivities at the resort...or the campground?
  23. Yep....from Bomanville you want the 401. (In Ontario the major highways are all 400 series numbers) Choices, as they come.... Depending on the time of day (NOT rush hour!!!) you could take the 409-Don Valley Parkway and (Queensway???-elevated highway) to the QEW and pass close to downtown Toronto and right beside the CN Tower and Air Canada Center (Maple Leafs-Raptors) and Roger's Center(Blue Jays). If you don't care about seeing downtown at all then you can take .... 401 to 427. That is pretty much directly S. to QEW . Not scenic I Usually go 401 past the Toronto International Airport and catch the 403. It angles SW towards the QEW....other than the airport traffic...not much to see. Then the QEW to Lewiston, Niagra or Fort Erie or wherever you decide to cross.
  24. OK.....no room in the garage.....and the bike is outside. I"ll check it in the morning. what should I expect if it is good vs bad?
  25. Nope
