Well there's 5 min of my life totally wasted!
-
And here I thought I didn't fall down so much because of my riding skills! That formula on the board explains it all in basic terms.
-
Wonder if they will like to ride as much as my dogs do?
-
I checked it out....interesting. I think the default font is a bit small but other than that looks good. I don't own a harley...and this site....if it continues as it is...has provided me with all the bike info and entertainment I have time for.
-
Really.....IT"S NOT ABOUT THE NAIL!!!!! which makes no sense unless you saw that clip.

just make sure you side stand bolt is tight (but not TOO tight!) and use the foot pegs or boards as a "stirrup" to mount the beast. (or unmount) Easier to swing you leg over the top given a little extra height. You gotta be gentle though.
-
Now you're just trying to get me in trouble aren't you! I can do that all by myself...as proven when we had lunch during one of the rides at the IR:whistling:

c'mon guys....if he had one to take a picture of he wouldn't be asking if anyone had one!!! -
This is outstanding..... Somebody had a lot of fun with this. Most of the people in the video were deceased before the Bee Gees recorded Staying Alive. Whether you are a Bee Gees or Rita Hayworth fan or not...you are going to like this. A great job of putting clips together with the music. It is a great marriage of 40's dancing and late 70's music. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=mz3CPzdCDws

I'll take your word for it and order red LED next time....but brightness wasn't the problem as much as the lack of difference when the brakes were on. Only very slightly brighter...therefore not really noticeably different Not a good thing when you are trying to tell somebody behind you to WHOA!!!!!.
-
I purchased these LED bulbs on Ebay. total cost was about $20 for 4 after shipping. Don't waste your money! There is so little difference in brightness between the running light and the brake light they are totally useless and downright dangerous! A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons, nor prior experience. She mounts the horse unassisted, and the horse immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slide from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot get a grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the horse's side anyway. The horse gallops along, seemingly impervious to its slipping rider. Finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety.Unfortunately, her foot has become entangled in the stirrup, she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground. As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness, when to her great fortune . . . Frank, the Walmart greeter, sees her dilemma, and unplugs the horse. And you thought all they did was say Hello.

Just curious......Are there no springs in your front shocks? They look collapsed in the pics

The reserve selector is located on the Right side of the bike (when sitting on it) a little above and behind the footpegs. These bikes do not have a reserve tank. It works by having a different feed. Sort of like a short straw sticking into the tank with a shorter straw right beside it. When in the run position, and the gas gets below the level of the longer "straw" then you would run out of gas unless you turn to the reserve position and start sucking gas out of the shorter "straw". Our fuel gauges are pretty reliable so most people just leave the fuel selector on reserve all the time and go by the gas gauge. We don't have a reserve position on our cars do we? PLUS....and this is a big PLUS.....they get seized and quite a few folks have broken them trying to turn them. Best just leave it alone.

Hard to imagine Billy Ray is her father!!!!! But I saw an interview with him once and he said it's just a "performance". I guess one man's performance is another man's "what the heck????"

Hang in there. From what I've read here you sometimes have to play with it a LOT to get it back into place....for others it seems like it just falls into place. I know mine did (1st gen). Don't give up....it will go! Not sure if it would make a difference or not...but when I did mine I had the shift indicator switch out....I think that gave me more maneuvering room. The shift indicator is held in by 3 phillips screws...but be careful you don't loose the little pin or spring that is behind it. Maybe somebody else can comment on the wisdom (or not) of removing the shift indicator switch to give you more room to maneuver. -
Now what did you do to those guys at work they felt they were justified in vandalizing your ride? Cutting brake lines is not just vandalizing....it could be considered attempted murder!

Hang in there! It's tough watching a loved one slowly wear down. I went thru it with Cancer with my Mum and Dad. Mum pretty much died in my arms. Cherish what time you have, and hold the family close. My thoughts are with you.

display/cms issues
Trader replied to fng985's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You are correct in that it is a battery acid level probe that will alarm on your CMU with both the red light and a battery icon. A lot of folks run batteries with no acid (what are they called again?) The "diode" is probably a 1 or 2 amp resister , which tricks the system into thinking the probe is working and all is good with the acid level. -
Got to meet yet ANOTHER VR member today, what a GREAT summer!!!

Gear indicator issue
Trader replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My gear indicator is not showing anything except 5th. The Neutral light works, but doesn't indicate neutral on my display. I changed the spring, pin and switch.... put 12v into the plug leading to the shift indicator and checked each pin of the plug to verify that the gear indicator switch is working correctly. It is. (The pin/switch goes to ground when selected) My question.....Can I do the same test to ensure the plug/wires are OK at the CMU plug or is there anything in between that I could fry? I don't want to let any smoke out! How can I test the CMS itself to see if the indicator itself is working?
