  1. Hey wadda ya know! I got one right!
  2. check to be sure your starter button it totally disengaged. Might need cleaning. There is a thread on that in the tech section.
  3. It sounds like you are having issues with your TCI. It could be wet. Try removing it and drying it out. You have to remove the TCI, open it up, and dry it in the oven at 180* for about 1/2 hour. When you replace it, move it on top of the air box to avoid similar issues in the future. Wouldn't hurt to use contact cleaner and dielectric grease on the connectors while you are at it. Mine was very easy....but I had the faring off at the time...it just "flipped over". you may have to clip the mounting tabs off so the false tank cover will fit back on properly
  4. A lot of folks use Rottella T diesel oil. No additives and cheaper than specifically motorcycle oil. I've been using it in my bikes for the last 4 years with no problems. (That's as long as I've been back on 2 wheels after a 20 year hiatus .)
  5. Seems like a lot of space behind the seat of the side car that could be used for storage. Any Idea why it isn't?
  6. I was thinking how scary it must have been for the SUV driver... he was being targeted for quite awhile! This old world really can be a sad place at times.
  7. We went to visit a friend at a cottage WAY out in the middle of no-where. I thought I knew where it was but the reality was I couldn't find it. We were putting along in first gear up and down these cottage lanes that were sand and soft gravel . That's when I first found out my charging system was going bad. I stalled it trying to turn around at the bottom of a hill, and it wouldn't start. nobody around to help except my wife. No Cell Phone Service either. We tried pushing it up the hill and bump starting it, but between no speed and soft ground we couldn't get it started. I laid over twice then. After 5-6 tries we were exhausted so we decided to walk to find help. About 30 min later we found someone and they gave us a ride back to the bike with some boosters. Tried it one more time and of course it started right up! We rode back to the ladies house to phone our friend for directions. Turned the bike around and my bad leg was so worn out by this time I couldn't hold the bike up and AGAIN it laid down. I was mad, and embarrassed, frustrated all at the same time. I got the bike up and at least this time I was at the top of a hill so I just coasted down and got it started. And wouldn't you know it....The front tire washed out in the sand at the bottom of the hill. OVER AGAIN! (that made 4 in one day.) At least that time it didn't stall! Finally got on the road and found our friend....BUT...I almost lost it one more time when the front wheel washed out again...but I managed to save it that time (jamming my bad leg in the process) So...4 1/2 times in one day....is that a record? Every time was in soft sand ....so no damage each time
  8. nevermind....I was thinking fuel filter but you said you have flow...just not very strong. It might be the pump is weak. but then...what do I know!

  12. I'm glad you survived the ride! Sounds like a wild one. Your story touched me deeply....and I too had a similar experience. I'm thinking from this time on.....I should honor the fallen and call my trusty ride..... CHIPMUNK
  13. Lottsa folks use pledge...but stay away from LEMON pledge or you'll have tons of wasps around your bike.
  14. naw....Carl is still learning how to be a mod so changing to a "simpler" system would be easier for him! But looking at the numbers I think the NO's might just squeek by!

  17. If it sat for 22 years I don't think I would want to trust those tires! Did you actually get it or just see it on Craig's list. I've seen lots of deals that are too good to be true.....identical ads posted in multiple cities.....SCAM! Just wondering.
