If its just a weekend trip, Picton(Lake on the Mountain) is a beautiful spot ... Less than 1 hr from Kingston or Head north to Ottawa. (about 2 hr.) . Gananoque is just w. of where the international bridge comes across. Let me know when you are coming....I'll be happy to show you some nice twisties and nice scenery between Sharbot Lake and Westport! Westport is a great little tourist town 40 min north of Kingston If you come up the weekend of August 7 there is a HUGE ride (Ride for Dad 10th Anniversary Ride) from Ottawa to Kingston...expecting 2000 bikes! Thru Perth and Sharbot Lake

I've got a cheap LG unit ....it doesn't know how to U-Turn! it will give me a "Turn Right" 3 times, then Turn Left...even if each leg is 2 miles to do it!

My son got ripped off because he didn't keep full records of oil changes etc...plus he did some work himself. Can't remember the company...but that was enought to void his warantee. $1500 for nothing...thank you very much!

I started a new thread just for locations of the DQ M&E. you can reply to that thread to post your local M&E Not sure if that is considered HiJacking the thread...but Ifigured it would be best to have one tread to look for local locations only...rather than digging for locations between comments

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Some people have WAY to much time on their hands! (or what's left of them)

What is the purpose of the plugs closer to the outside of the spark plug (see pic...circled in red) It would be a lot easier for ham fisted people if they were "optional" spark plug locations! I'm thinking just a casting plug...but is there any mechanical function to these?

We should designate a few key spots....in each state or province...such as Kingston or Ottawa for those in Eastern Ontario to meet up. Maybe London for Western Ontario ....etc etc The states can have one or two in each state....most are only an hour or two ride apart anyway! if we can have a crowd of VR.org members there we can take pictures of the meet and the highest number wins! And No....you can't be by yourself holding a sign with 1,000,000,000 on it!

I've been making sawdust for years....nothing useful....just a lot of sawdust! :rotf:

I'd love to see a R/C model done up of that. Something about 80" wingspan would be cool....expecially to watch it collapse the wings to "drive" off the field!

Or you could just start preaching to the surveyor! It's amazing how fast they get off the phone! Mind you...it doesn't stop someone else from calling back...but it sure is fun to hear the reaction!

Maybe not so bad after all????
Trader replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I haven't had anywhere to open it up...around here its 55 miles per (80 km) so I don't usually do more than 100 k/hr (65 mph)...WAY too many cops around. but the plugs look like its running on all 4 -
one of my favourite sayings..."just one of those life-times!"

Here's what the plugs look like....any thoughts? They are in order #1to #4 I would think they seem OK....perhaps a bit lean? if that is the case....what do I do? -
Just wanted to let EVERYONE know that thanks to CdnDave77 :clap2:I did my very first carb sync. He sent me these pictures of a home made sync tool ...along with a materials list and detailed instructions on the procedure. I liked this tool because there was no worry of sucking anything into the cylinders. I might add.....This site is GREAT! Even an "all thumbs",mechanically challanged person suffering from a long term loss of short term memory can do stuff! Now if I could just remember where I put the key for the scoot I'd be all set!

I've done sea foam twice and sync'd the carbs, installed new plugs. I rode about 105 miles or so today so next I'm going to pull the plugs to see how they look. OK...so I have the side cases off to do the carb sync and change plugs. I've just received the Plastex kit so I rode with the plastic off while I work on them. Tonight I went for a ride and kept getting a "pricking" feeling to my inner thigh. I thought it might have been a sharp end of a cable tie or a wire twist tie sticking me but after a few checks to see what it could be I realized it was the spark plug wire giving me minor zaps! (both left and right) So...perhaps a stupid question...but does that mean I most certainly need new plug wires? But I'm getting 34 mpg (US) or 6.1 L/100 km or 40.8 miles per Can. gal. and that was at least 3/4 of the time doubled up! SO....I now am thinking my bike is not doing so bad....and that it just isn't the powerhouse that SOME PEOPLE (who shall remain nameless eh Yammer Dan???) is just putting us on about these 1st gens being such an amazing powerhouse!

Refreshing the dessicant
Trader replied to Freebird's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a LOT of pouches of desiccant left over from my now closed business. They are called DRY-R by Tana. They were supposed to be used for drying out sports equipment. Just stuff them into your glove (or whatever) and when they got wet, toss them into the dryer. Each package contains 1 large (100 g) or 2 small (50 g) Dry'r pouches. These retailed for $10.00 EACH PACK at Canadian Tire a few years ago we have approx. 300 -50 g and 75- 100 g packs They are all in storage so I'm not sure exactly what the type of deseccant is actually in them...but if anyone wants any, I'll can dig some out to see what is in them, and if it is suitable I can send them to you for the price of shipping. Just pm me . -
Why not? It sounds like a reasonable way to reduce sway. If you think about it....A car towing a large camper trailer uses an anti sway bar.... which is nothing more than a brake pad pressing on a sliding steel bar thereby stopping side to side movement without suffficient force(provided by actually turning the vehicle) I would think The double rubber tie down straps would do the same thing on a light weight trailer. So whats so wrong with that set up?

After 30 + years I finally did it - not for faint of heart
Trader replied to Hummingbird's topic in Watering Hole
Well....after I finished throwing up, gagging and getting faint I took another look. OUCH! I guess that comes under the heading of Hope you heal quick...although....as we get old we don't heal as fast -
Might be a dumb question...but all the focus has been on the trailer....could there be any chance your hitch itself is loose?

When I was younger I knew a lot of "1%" riders...in clubs, gangs ...whatever. MOST of them were really good guys on their own. Rough around the edges...but I was always treated well....until they got around other members! THEN the fireworks started and you never knew just how it would turn out! Often...not well!

Swifty....you wouldn't be a "fair weather biker" now would you? Say it ain't so!
