  5. The bike is a basic venture...not the royale package. The only thing I would miss is the stereo whcih is an easy fix...and I don't have cruise on mine anyway.....but not sure about losing the CLASS....... How do they handle overall without the Class to adjust for different circumstances?
  6. must be a first gen.....Quick Bike=Quike! :rasberry:
  7. What we have here is a perfect example of THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX! :rotf::rotf:
  8. SIGH! OK...so I have to pull the starter....so what can I do while I've got it off? I"m planning on replacing the brushes and doing Dingy's Ground Mod? I have a set of Battery cables on order from JB Anything else I need to do while I'm at it? Can anybody recommend a cheap source for QUALITY brushes? Snagletooth told me he bought cheap ones on ebay and basically destroyed his starter! I don't want to play that game! Are any of the other mods really needed or are they just "nice to have". Limited funds mean I have to be choosy on where it goes.
  9. OK....update. cleaned & tightened all connectons...charged battery = starter very slow....as if battery was dead! used jumper cables direct to terminal on starter and good ground from bike battery = very slow used jumper cables direct to terminal on starter and good ground from car battery = very slow tried jumping from car battery to bike battery (car not running) STILL =starter very slow.(jumpers were getting warm!) So now what...time to pull the starter?
  10. a little more to help. not much but many hands make light work (or a larger pot) Being a newbie, I don't know Lowell...not sure I've even seen too many posts from him....but, as Jesus taught...."who really is our brother" besides....reading everyone poking fun at him with the Yellowstone park picture was worth the price!
  11. DMMordin (OP) and I PM ed each other with no problems I sent, he replied....I replied. I didn't hear back from him a 2nd time but if I would think if it works once it will probably work a 2nd time!
  12. could have at least gone with "old" buckshot! OK...just noticed ....that comment is not original....maybe I'm getting old too!
  13. What about bringing it (her) up here too? Mind you....bring her across thru norhern Minnesota....and if she came back thru Massena, NY she still would only visit Ontario. Texas ain't got nutten on us!
  14. speaking of NUTS.......!!!!!
  15. Did I miss something? What was the trick?
  16. I've charged the battery (1year old gel battery) I cleaned and tightened the connection on the front of the starter I've cleaned and tightened both battery terminals I inspected and checked tightness on Ground at front left of motor STILL turns over so slow (even when cold) it won't start so now what?????????????????????????????????? 18. And if you come into NY then you just gotta go to Niagara Falls....I mean....ITS NIAGARA FALLS!!!!! unless of course its a matter of "been there...done that"
  19. OUCH! good thing "Snarley" moniker has already been taken!
  20. yeah...too much of a good thing....but if it WAS a trailer hitch I'd suffer with it. Looks a little gaudy for my tastes. I like the classic lines of the first Gens..."simple elegance"
  21. It looks really nice. If you think it might need more...how about some scrollies on the fenders and Trunk? you know what I mean...just something subtle....like a double "treble cleft"kind of thing, one forward, one reversed.
  22. I"m looking at this bike here it is from from the side... its an 84 venture...not royale so no goodies. 100,000 Km New windshield. New stator. New Starter. New fork seals. New 2nd & 3rd gear. Needs Paint. Engine tune up spring 2009. the seller only wants $2000 (can.) I'm thinking maybe I can combine the best parts with mine and sell what's left for close to the same price!
  23. see attached pic.....???????
