You may see us (and the scoot) in a soup commercial
Trader replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
A few years back the company I worked for did a sponsorship with the Hamilton Tiger Cats (Canadian Football League) I volunteered to work some overtime and ended up in a photo shoot with other bluecollar workers in hard hats and saftey glasses sitting on the player's bench along with the players (supposedly) cheering on the team. The advertising company that handled the shoot gave us prints of the pictures, framed copies of the ad used in magazines and bus shelters, and a copy of the video used for TV comercials . but there was no cash payment other than the overtime from the company. I'd post the pic but they are buried away somewhere...no idea where! I think I saw the soup commercial quite awhile ago up here in Canada. Looking forward to SOMEONE posting it so we can see it. -
Um....neither do I????????

what about the rubber grommets. I remember there was some suggestions for them in another thread....but I can't find it (OK....so maybe I'm just too lazy to look too hard!) So....at the danger of repetition....where can you get replacement rubber grommets for the first Gen.?

OK so I got the ventrue 1200 standard on the road, Legally now. I ended up putting a set of Dunlop 404s on it...everything else was OK for the safety check. Could someone tell me again what pressure I should be running on the front and rear (no class)...and in the tires. I'm about 210 lbs. Its got a bad backfire. Only when I gear down agressively or if I really rev it up and back off in a lower gear. It backfires almost every time about 4200 rpm. If I let the revs down gently, no backfire! but there is still some popping going on. There is a minor leak in the exhaust...just enough to give it a bit of a throaty sound...not bad at all (I don't like loud bikes unless it's a high performance rocket sled) I put a 1/2 can of Seafoam into it but it hasn't made any difference so far.I've only ridden about 1 1/2 hr since I put it in. I've tried to keep the revs up and did lots of hard accelleration to give it a good chance at cleaning everything out. So where do I look for causes?

Rentalguy's Build Thread
Trader replied to rentalguy1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You might want to consider putting stainless steel brake lines. I'm not speaking from experience (going to do it this winter) but I've read that that really helps to firm up the brakes. Another option is to de-link front and back brake from the rear pedal. I've also read that helps. Like I said...not from personal experience...but this site hasn't steered me wrong yet! -
I eat like a bird too.....mind you .....some birds eat up to 3 times their body weight every day!

Turn Signal Problem

could the buzzing be the flasher relay gone bad? -
My favorite all time novel is: "The Cruel Sea" by Nicholas Monserrat (not sure of the spelling) It's a WWII story of life in the North Atlantic... protecting convoys, dodging subs, surviving storms....a real good read.

Plastex is really easy for repairing stripped screw holes. Just coat the screw with WD40 and put some wet plastex on the screw (enough to fill the hole) Once it cures just remove the screw and VOILA! you're done! I've used it to rebuild several tabs, and repair cracks. I would recommend it to anyone...but as stated...clean and sand the area to ensure it sticks!

Really an amazing sight..... This is not a"Mud Slide" but a "Land Slide" You may have all heard about the recent landslides in Italy . But up to now I have never seen one as it was happening. Use the link below and you will see a whole hillside in an Italian residential neighborhood slowly slide away taking grown trees with it..... Maybe thats why I thought you were coming on too strong! I just didn't understand what the heck you were saying!! :rotf: As far as being politically correct....NP! Some of the best humour is politically incorrect. I have no prejiduce toward any body's beliefs. Well....that's not really true....I hate the lifestyle of some people...and strongly disagree with many religious beliefs....but I guess it's a matter of "hate the sin, love the sinner" My point is that we can express our differing opinions without getting personal or insulting about it. Believe me...I know of which I talk! I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses....and as I'm sure you know, as we go out in our ministry, we discuss religion...which is a VERY personal thing. We always try to discuss some intense things in a calm and non-judgemental manner, and often have to "Defuse" some pretty intense situations. we meet hundreds of people as we go try to teach Bible truths, trying to help people learn what the Bible Really Teaches. I'm sure some here will argue "you teach Your truths!". I guess when we prove our statements, taken from the Bible, in the proper context, people respect that...if not us. I'd be happy to discuss that further thru PM's if anybody would like to but that is not what this posting is about. I really enjoy this site...and the folks in it although I have yet to personally meet a single one. I would not like to see anyone feel unwelcome for expressing their opinion if it is done so in a mild manner, without malace or prejiduce.

Fairing Crack Question
Trader replied to MPK's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Small cracks? I guess it's all relative.... Did he tell you "low" milage too? You can fix them up with plastex....but then repainting would probably be in order.- 20 replies

I just got a quote on new front and rear Dunlop E3 tires for my 84 standard from my local stealer $610...thats the final after tax and install price. (on the bike) OUCH!!!! I was told if I buy tires and bring them in it would be $65 for the rear and $45 for the front for install I know we pay thru the nose for stuff up here in Canada...but thats a long way from US prices I've heard about on this site. Anybody know where I can do better?

BRAVO....a point was raised....a question was asked. There is CERTAINLY NO NEED to get personal, tell the poster off or (as I have seen in the past) insult the posters' intelligence. We all have issues near and dear to our heart...but lets keep it friendly! Goose...I don't know you...never met you...I would like to...but I have to say I've noticed many of your posts do stand out for their "intensity".

side stand ...she be broke!
Trader replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
What kind of money are we looking at to buy all the parts to rebuild all brake cylinders and masters, as well as the clutch slave cylinder? Are rebuild "Kits" available that have all neccessary parts? -
side stand ...she be broke!
Trader replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I"m going to bleed out all the old clutch fluid....looks pretty dark. We'll see if that makes any difference. Took the standard to the local stealer today to get a safety check. I figure I may as well ride this one until the end of the season then steal all the best parts for my 83 blonde VR during the winter. Should be an interesting time for a "non-mechanical" guy like me. I plan to: install progressive springs in the front of the VR install Condor brace on VR install a heavy clutch upgrade in the VR exchange the new stator that is in the standard into the VR move the TCI to the air box on both repair all the plastic on both bikes Paint both bikes have the seat re-upholstered on both bikes install new diaphrams in VR Install new plugs, wires, and battery cables in VR do the battery resistor mod on the VR install stainless brake lines on VR do the drive shaft lube on both Any other suggestions????? -
I figure if I have a beer or two and people don't like the way I ride....... then they can just stay off the sidewalks!!!!!!! now on a more serious note..... I seldom drink anything when I'm riding...if I do...than its just one. I figure there are just too many things out to kill me without helping by drinking or smoking anything that might decrease awareness.

I never had to drink anything yucky....and didn't get put to sleep! Just fasted for 24 hours, and took a basic laxitive. I was wide awake and watching the TV along with the Doctor. But then....I'm not as full of it as some! Here's a picture of the way they do it with elephants! Just be thankful you don't have this guy's job!
