  1. There was a thread on how to bypass the tail light warning on the cmu after installing LED tail lights.....but I can't find it anywhere. plus I'm wondering if the pictures are swallowed up anyway. Anybody have this they could send to me or point me to a link with pics?
  2. I bought one of those cassette adapters to plug my phone into. A lot more variety...a lot less fuss
  3. Yep....it's on it's way here. Thanks anyway Mother! Just let me know what to do with it when I'm done Carl.
  4. The Canadian dealer wants $3.65 per for the O Rings for the valve cover bolts. Partsshark in the US wants $3 per After taxes that's about $65 C. just for o-rings!!!! does anyone know what size these are? Are they "special" or would standard o-rings work?
  5. Is there still a valve shim kit available? I would be interested in using it if there is still one floating around.
  6. OK....this is not really a highjack seeing as we are talking about starters. I've replaced 2 out of the 3 cables with 4 gu. wire. The red wire, that connects to the left side of the starter (looking from the front) is thinner than the 2 others I have replaced already. Does this red wire need to be replaced also? If so, what guage does it need to be?
  7. What problem?
  8. So then, really, you too are saying " DUH! never mind " It seems we have gone full circle.
  9. OK...so obviously the friction plates...but are there different materials? Which is best? Do I need to change steel plates? Skydoc has an extra plate to replace the 1/2 plate..can that be ordered from anywhere? If so is it just an extra regular part? Lets see see if I get anywhere near the response my other thread had!😄
  10. Thanks for the offer Carl! I just needed to know how to tell what size is needed for any application...and I got my answer. This place is great...best $12 a year I ever invested
  11. Now that's a little harsh... I mean I was just wondering....well...you know
  12. But...what if....never mind
  13. Thanks guys!
  14. Hey Ben!! Thanks for the suggestion. My Luck....I called Northern Performance and their brake hose making machine is down and they've been waiting for parts for over 4 months already. so much for that! You wouldn't happen to have saved your order receipt showing the complete parts list did you? I called a company in Edmonton (Edmonton Brake and Clutch) and for 2-44" braided lines with fittings and banjo bolt, crush washers...complete to do the front brake de-linked was $161.28 Canadian. For you US folks that's about about $115
  15. The parts manual just says "bolt" Can I cross reference somewhere to see What size a bolt actually is?:confused24: Like right now I need to know what size banjo bolts to order to double up the front brake lines on the front master (88vr)
  16. hee hee hee
  17. ....
  18. Hoping I can find universal lines to fit. I cleaned up the front right brake caliper today...blew the Pistons out with air. when they "popped" out it scared the heck out of me!
  19. I'm looking for a parts list of what I need to replace the brake and clutch lines and the de-link kit. I suppose I could take everything off, measure it and then order them but I like to take it off one piece at a time and replace it as I go. Less chance of a screw up. So....if anyone has a shopping list for an 88 VR I would appreciate it. I know Skydoc has the kit but as always I'm on a real tight budget and want to see if I could save a bit...especially because of the lousy Canadian dollar. Earl's kit would be $450 or more (C$) after shipping!
  20. OK....so today I installed the 4 guage battery cables, new plugs and put a new set of plug wires I got off Skydoc a long time ago. They already had the plug caps installed. But....what holds the wires into the coils? these must be SLIGHTLY smaller diameter cables cause the little rubber washer inside the coil cap doesn't really bite it very well. It seems that the only thing holding the wire in place is a tiny pin inside the coil and those rubber washers. Am I missing something????
  21. They must have had the engineers involved.
  22. In the 70's I rebuilt a 450 Honda....actually made it into a chopper.... in the entrance hall of my 4th floor apartment which had no elevator. I just took the front end and rear tire off to carry it down. No problem with 2 young guys. I wouldn't want to try that with the VR!
  23. Can I swap the front wheel rim, disc etc complete from a Mark I to a Mark II I have a good tire on my parts bike...not sure if it will fit as is or if I have to unmount and remount the Mark I tire onto the Mark II rim EDIT: I have an AVON Venom X brand new tire for the back but the dealer won't install it because the date code says its an 09. They want overf $600 for a new pair!!!!!!! How important is the date code anyway. I've heard folks talk about it...but REALLY???!!!!!
  24. Two hunters were out in heavy brush and hilly terrain. One of them couldn't handle the exertion and dropped dead. His buddy called 911 and asked "what should I do?" The operator said "well, first off we need to make sure he is dead...." The phone line went quiet for a moment then the operator heard a gun shot. Shortly after, the surviving hunter came back on the phone and said "OK....now what?"
  25. OK....so I want to rebuild my clutch with heavier spring and all new friction plates. Anybody know a good source in Canada? ( our dollar isn't worth much these days...makes buying in US way too expensive.)
