I have a next to brand new viper venom...or is it venom viper? Front was new but a few years old when I put it on and it weather checked so badly within the first season it is unsafe. so...what’s a good replacement front tire that will work well with the viper rear tire?

Hi all! Remember me? I have been lurking on and off but let my membership lapse long ago. It sucks to get old. My hips and knees are bad so I haven't ridden since 2018. so I'm selling off everything. My ad is in classified. On nice days I would rather be on my boat

I've been away for awhile...lurking but not a member. But I renewed because I have 3 bikes to part out ....all 1st Gen 83 and 84 blonde and 84 red I have all the plastic, electrical and mechanical...even some new parts! This is how I would like it to work. Let me know what you want and I'll check the condition If they are good enough to sell then we can discuss price. those of you who may remember me know I am honest and will not misrepresent the condition of the parts. If I can get a picture of the item without a lot of work I certainly will....but otherwise you will have to commit to purchase before I strip the parts off. I don't have time to do all the work of stripping parts off for tire kickers!!! Shipping will generally be by surface mail...with tracking. Price will reflect condition...but I just want to move these bikes. I am located in Kingston, Ontario. I'm willing to pack and ship...but of course you would have to cover costs for shipping. Please PM me or call 613-TWO-ONE-FOUR- 0958

So...I’ve been lurking off and on but haven’t posted for awhile. My burgundy ‘87 is still in pieces.... you may remember I had an issue doing a valve adjustment wit a broken and rewelded tool and mushroomed the head. NP I thought...I have parts bikes. So I figured I would just change the heads. Long story short in changing heads I dropped the parts tray and mixed up the valve pots...so Since then I have had zero confidence in ever getting the thing running again. I had put new tires, brake pads, complete new clutch and springs, a new gen2 shifter dog(the castle shaped part behind the clutch. After cleaning, de-linking and installing braided lines, I just couldnt get the brakes bled....I’ve put about 2 L. Of fluid thru them! so...it has sat for almost 2 years. But...I’m not dead. I’m going to try to get thing running again, Plus....I just picked up the deal of the century! I got a ‘86 VR in excellent shape. Everything seems to be working! It might need some carb work and fluids etc. but that’s all I can see wrong with it. Its got a new battery, and newly upholstered seat and came with an extra set of saddle bags, front fork shells, a set of new progressive springs, , exhaust collector, brake rotor, a TCI, and 3 boxes of used parts, many in baggies, cleaned and labelled! It was worth a 1000 km drive to go pick it up! He even paid for the used vehicle package that the gov’t here insists on when selling a vehicle ($20) While I was driving I asked him if he needed cash or I could send him an e-transfer for the money. He said e-transfer was fine....but when I got there I couldn’t connect to the internet. I couldn’t believe it when he said “Don’t worry about it...just send it when you get home”. Wow oh yeah...final price? $200!!!!! yep two hundred Canadian dollars! (That’s like a fine meal out for 2 to you U.S. guys I have no idea why they are upside down...they are fine in my library! A friend owns a 2005 Roadstar 1700. He just changed the battery and now, every time he shuts off the bike an alarm goes off! He is not at all hands on...just rides it...this is probably the first time he's done anything himself. He didn't even know he had an alarm on it! Any suggestions on how he can get it reset?

83 venture vs royal

A member here (Skydoc) sells a block off kit to eliminate the anti dive units. If you put progressive springs in you don't really need them. A lot of us have done that. Check out his classified ads...he offers lots of parts and kits that have all the bits and pieces you need for many jobs I would also suggest you install a "Super Brace".... which is a heavier clamp that holds the forks just above the front fender. It makes a big difference in handling. -
But we have seen Don try to deal with abusive posters...and remove them if they don't tone it down

Many comments here are quasi-political so I will throw out a quasi-religious comment. Do you really think God cares about a dotted line on a map? No matter where you go in the world there are people who have some personal pride and consideration for others...or not. All we can do is be the best person we can without imposing our will, beliefs or preferences on others.

The member offering this has not been on the forum for over a year. did you look in the tech library? i believe there is a full wiring diagram there -
I thought the "stand your ground" law means all they need is to "feel threatened". If a ticked off biker with a gun comes up to a car in a menacing manner someone might feel threatened. BANG You're dead. even if they get prosecuted...you're still dead. or...what if they see your gun and pull one themselves? too many idiots in the world...just pull over and let them pass

I do the same thing but I have NEVER had some one react to my pointing out how rude they are this way

My wife's IPad screen locked up. I tried to shut it down but after holding the power button for a few seconds couldn't even "slide" the on screen button to power off. I read that I could re-set the IPad by holding the power button and the main "home" button for 10 seconds. I figured this was a factory reset and I would loose everything but I didn't loose anything. Just thought it would be good to know.

If you don't take Bob up on that offer I will! If Bob will let me. I'm assuming it's the same unit as my Gen 1 ? -
The carb body broke?

I always say rebuild. Lots of parts off the bike but if you have those parts and can get it put together and make it run then do it. Lots of help on this site...pay the $12 and join the family These are great bikes and will give you many miles of smiles! Even if you sell it you can probably get a lot more than you paid!

Make sure you have a written agreement with your partner that also lays out expectations ,job responsibilities, and exit strategy for both parties. The fact he is a friend means very little in business. Don't be overly daunted by the office work. I owned a one man sign shop and my wife had a very successful beauty salon with 5 employees. I did all the bookkeeping and payroll myself and still worked 12 hour shifts at my job. We hired an accountant to do our yearly taxes. Software packages like Quickbooks make it pretty simple. You can pay someone to set it up and then you just put in the data. It really is not bad at all. There have been comments about managers and employees but, unless I missed it, you didn't mention how many bays or if any employees. A service business is dependant on repeat clients. NEVER do anything cheap or underhanded. Word of mouth is your best advertising....but one bad review will cancel out many many good reviews. Its only human nature. We expect good service and don't usually tell people when you get what you expect unless something exceptional happens. But if you get lousy service or even get ripped off then EVERYBODY hears about it! Keeping up with The cost of all the diagnostics and misc. equipment is a consideration...as well as making sure you are insured and isolated from personal liability if anyone tries to sue or if things go bad. A positive is that it is an established business so you shouldn't have the normal gradual increase of a start-up. Have the old owner stay on for a couple of months during the transition and during that time send a notice to every customer on his books informing them that you are taking over and will continue providing the great service they expect. (unless he doesn't have a good reputation then just promote yourself emphasizing friendly ETHICAL service) People want a mechanic they can trust...that is the most important quality. If you save them a few bucks on a job...make sure they know it! Finally, remember, you have skills that are needed pretty much anywhere. It sounds like you are not thrilled with your current job and If your new shop fails, you can get a job anywhere. The satisfaction and potential for growth from owning your own business is fantastic. my two cents? GO FOR IT!!!!!!

So it was running...just no power and then quit or it just completely died and it was just enertia that was turning the motor over? One sounds like a fuel delivery problem...if it just died suddenly it sounds like an electrical issue
