Rear Facing LED Lights - Opinions?
Cougar replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Higher Up the better. so cadgers can see it. I have some on the sides of my top trunk now. pretty visible, maybe you could put one on the bottom part of the top trunk. just my 2 cents. -
The best part is removing the stator with those Phillips head screws. I ordered new ones but some go with a hex head when replacing them. this is where you WILL swear a lot . make sure you hard wire your new stator wires as well and maybe think about going with a HO Stator. love mine been great for the juice. I gave Mike (Eusa1 ) My OEM Stator last year not sure if he still has it or not. nothing was wrong with it.

It will come off. just did this last year. tap around it with a rubber mallet and pull. You also might have to loosen the gear lever a bit as well for the room. I think I had to remove one bolt on it to drop it a bit.

All I can say is where has this Michelin Commander II been all my life what an amazing tire and ride. so much different. almost like a whole new ride . my steering and handling has been impacted greatly. LOVE IT !! 150/80/16 rear and reversed. 42 lbs. Was kinda funny the guy I have known for years that does my tires at the Honda Shop says ya know when you reverse that tire all that water gets tossed up under your front fender that way. I said reverse it anyways !

so so mean
-
My Dunlap still cupped at 42 lbs.
-
What tire pressures you guys been using? 42 ?
-
NOTE: One free rear tire slightly cupped with 5K on it for free and you pick up maybe it would be still good for a two wheeler and wear in right?
-
OK Guys And Gals. How are you doing with your REAR to front tire these days? Are you reversing it? Are you leaving it in the same rotation? Have any of you had any problems with your front tire since you triked? We have logged some miles, and have a pretty good group of Trikers now , I was wondering what your thoughts are on the rotation and the miles your getting out of the front tire these day? My first tire was a Michelin Commander and it did pretty darn good I think It was in the forward direction at the time I triked and never reversed it. Then when that wore out I went with a Dunlap 404 rear for the front. this tire cupped with in 5,000 miles. It also was in the forward direction. So in a few days I will be getting a New Michelin II Rear tire for the front and I am going to make it reversed I believe this time around. and make sure the tire pressure is always at 40 to 42 lbs. Just thought it would be a good thread for future interest for us Trikers All I know is that I will never go back to a Dunlap 404 for the front of my trike in the future. I also have read all the articles about reversing the tire do to the belt construction of a rear tire as well. seems to make since. Some worry about water displacement being reversed, some say do to the belts on the rear and if you use the front brakes lots its way better for the tire/belts. Please give us your opinions or comments . Thanks, Jeff

Mark just let me know a head of time... Are you going the International? I am sure some there will have a carbtune. But I will bring mine as well. I am only there on Sunday for a few hours or so. OR we can meet up another time ! Jeff
-
Run to Ducky's was canceled this year. We can meet at the Casino Parking lot one day of you wish and we can do your carbs. I think the only place to get a carbtune is direct. I could be wrong tho. Let me know. I have not heard anything about wearing googles in IL. Jeff

Sent you my email Bob, Thanks

Would you take some photos of this problem and post them please if you can ?
-
Mark, even you don't have one, plenty of us do. If you are headed to Iowa sometime soon just give a holler and I will bring one to you then we eat some lunch have ice cream and tune your carbs. Jeff

and don't add those little doohickey mabobs to the hoses as well.

Don, remove a wheel a really look in there close. you will be surprised to see how much there is left. I also did revise the first post. so you are NOT CRAZY !! It did say 266 before. I figured after I talked with Jim I should change that first post. the 266 was the right one with the older calipers . now the HH is added. $28 is about the best your gunna get. And I can never remember if you get (4) or (2) for that price. Good luck and ride safe !!

Aww Shucks Guys it was fun and I got to ride!! and your very welcome! Yes his Carbtune has a bent rod in it on #4 they even look different now days. Anyways, SURE MARK !!! Mike and I will ride up to give you hand one day :-) Mike, Still looking for a owner for this almost new slightly cupped Dunlap 404... otherwise next week it stays at the tire shop.

Emailed to me today 7/5/13 Jeff, The brake pads are Brembo and many places will not carry them but EBCbrakes are available in most motorcycle shops, the EBC number is FA266 HH Jim GoochHannigan Motorsports EDIT:: YES the (( HH )) does make a difference for the newer type rotors. You can find them on Amazon.

HMS RetroFit Reverse is now avalible to the End User
Cougar replied to Cougar's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
After a couple weeks of using the reverse, (Happy Camper) Hannigan decided to add these resistors and in return make the reverse motor run at 6 volts. (to slow for me) and the power range sucks. This is not good if there is much weight to the Trike IE: like a trailer or passenger . it just wants to bog down after 10 feet. and pulls a pretty good battery drain as well . After talking with Larry and Brad at tech at Hannigan , I have decided to remove the resistor pack all together. and WOW it rocks now. can back up all the way to work now. AT 12 VOLTS. Also in the place of the resistors under the false fender added a second battery and ran the POS to the starter from it and well as my top trunk aux 12 volt charging jack for accessory's. NOTE: this was my option ONLY and it is not necessary to do. It really charges well and works well in line with the reverse. I do have the HO Stator as well as the MosFet R/R I think that might help , but it is charging both battery's just fine. So bottom line using the resistors the battery voltage was dropping to around 8.5 volts. then having to charge back up. (took about 3 miles) If using them you should have the engine running. After removing them it only dropped to 10.0 volts. charged back up in a mile or so. Adding the second battery , only dropped to 11.5 volts and charged in a 1/2 mile to 14.4 volts. I was planning on doing a write up with the body on and I can post all my photos. but the instructions will tell you most. it was missing lots but have passed on the info to Hannigan, And they are up-dating the instructions. Some parts had the wrong hole sizes to them. that also should be fixed as well. I think adding the resistor pack was the hardest part of the install. You do need to use the opening where that pack would go to do this install with the body on . Thinking it just might be worth removing it as the time would be about the same for the install. there is one bolt near the left passenger foot rest that is another part of the install with the body on. I had to make a tool to remove that bolt if the body was off it would have been easier the skill level I think would be around a 7/8 and lots of tools. I think if you are planning on adding a aux tank this would be a great time to do the reverse. Larrys tank is not in the way of this mod at all. as well as the newer aux tanks from Hannigan. However the best time to add it would of course be on a new install. even if you are thinking of doing it do it at that point. For the past 5 years it really has not been a problem in moving the Trike around with out it as well. but it is really nice to have this option. you can do both if you want the exercise So far I am very impressed with having the reverse. been no issues with parking in funny crazy spots now. There is also a safety feature , the Trike must been in neutral to even activate it. I will provide any info or help I can if you should want to do this install in the future. UPDATE: Hannigan might be possibly removing the resistor pack all together. so in return your cost could be lower to purchase ? there looking into that as well. (Just my thought) KEY WORD .. might. I will also post most of my photo's here if you wish to look at them. Peace, Jeff -
I am now convinced that its the tire tread design that's is making some brands cup.
