They might do it for you at no charge. my 2000 was at 6 years when I had mine done. (no charge) they need to ride it and call Yamaha. worth a try. otherwise the cost is about $340.00 Jeff- 14 replies

Changing the Fuel Filter
Cougar replied to Black Ice's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You do no need to change the rollover valve , some have had it stick I replaced mine @ $24.00 last month thinking that my tank was not venting... That was not the problem. There is a little ball in the valve that closes when the bike is laying on it's side.. maybe I will do a cross section of my old valve and post it here this week Jeff -
Changing the Fuel Filter
Cougar replied to Black Ice's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This is not hard folks.. And I see no reason on having that little nut holding the ROLLOVER VALVE there. that is the rollover valve that has the nut on it. that is next to the Filter.. should be on the other side though. I have had no problems in a year with the rollover valve not being bolted to the bike. there is NO ROOM in there for it to tip over. As far as the filter. I do not even remove the fuel pump anymore. this project takes about 15 Min's to do at best. If you feel it needs to be I think ECKs Idea would work great! Jeff The ROLLOVER VALVE prevents the fuel from running out of the tank if your bike is laying on its side. that valve is attached to the Vent Hole on your gas tank under the plastic bib on the tank. -
-Do I notice a flat spot to add rear tail lights on those fenders? -Are the fenders metal or fiberglass? -Also, what type of tires come with the Unit. -Are the chrome rims well done? So many Questions! *lol* Thanks, Jeff

So the tow=pac is pretty easy to install yourself then? (the MAIN Part?) Did you take pictures of the install? I would love to see some if you have them. I am getting pretty anxious to do this project myself. I am already lining up a auto body shop to paint the main frame and the fenders. I have the 2000 RSV With the light Colors on it and do not think black will look very good . I Just have to figure out how to tell me wife *lol* Jeff

What Size Tires (kit) did you order? (tow-pac) 8 in or 12 in? ummmmmmmm *thinking*

Changing the Fuel Filter
Cougar replied to Black Ice's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You will get it down after 3 times ! I can do it in about 15 Min's now I just did it again last week. This last time though I left the little nut in my tool box. The roll-over valve seems to be sitting there just fine on it's own. I even replaced that as well. Jeff -
-Turn the Dial Up on the left passenger side arm rest... (try again) -There is no button to push to talk (to hear each other) -Needs to have about 14 min to hear on the IC. Good luck Jeff

Passing Lamp Spacer Update
Cougar replied to BMW's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just go to the hardware store and pick up 2 long plastic screws and 4 plastic bolts -remove the rubber bumper replace with plastic screw and adjust the screw with the plastic bolts on each side of the reflector and bottom them the the stopping point. this will stop the bending. and or breaking Jeff- 57 replies

Rear Shock Air Pressure
Cougar replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk

Yep the Oddessy is the way to go. I love it and the winter does not effect it. no freezing anymore! Jeff

Is it just my bike? or do you have the same problem? Myself. (not that far away) Like to turn my turn signals on before I turn left or right. Just like I do in my truck. The problem I have always have had is the turn signal always turns OFF (times-out) before I get to the turn and I have to set it again, Is there a way to make it stay on longer? Thanks for any info. (2000 RSV) Jeff

I am just tickled pink today! as I am ALL DONE with my carb dilemma, I can not believe how much smoother she runs now! ALL Factory Settings were so far off I am not sure how the bike ever ran. FLOAT HEIGHTS were .125/.135/.120/.125 (highest setting possible) now ALL set @ .260 (book says .360 could not get them that low) PILOT MIX SCREW TURNS 1-1/4 > 1-3/4 > 2-1/2 > 2-3/4 now ALL set @ 3 turns out New Set of float bowl gaskets (4) $4.50 ea. New Set of Pilot Needle Valves (4) $10.21 ea. New Set of Float Needle Valves (4) $21.95 ea. Total Cost of new parts = $146.64 The O-Rings on the Pilot Screws were shot and the the ends of them read .30 the new ones read .34 This all started (end of last summer) when I could not turn my bike over when I tried to start it, What happened was the 1 and 2 carbs were flooding so much and filling up the cylinders with fuel the bike had a very hard time turning over. So I bought a new Odyssey Battery wanted one anyways! *lol* . I also ran 8 cans of sea foam though the tank even did the soak. (last summer) nothing helped Then I started to notice fuel spitting out of the left muffler after it did finely start. Then after the winter (a month ago) fuel starts pouring out of the overflow vent. I am so terrified of taking carburetors apart and never thought I could do this job especially looking at them all tucked under there on the RSV. So I did tackled the job (very easy) and messing with the carbs are not real bad (thanks to members on this forum) Just be careful with the springs and o-rings and washers flying out and when cleaning make sure there ALL out. (don't wanna talk about that part) I also could not believe how much better the carbs reacted to adjusting to the Carbtune. This is like a whole new world! The bike starts so easy now and runs so perfect I have never felt it run so smooth! And one other thing is that (MY WHINE) has even improved. Real nice power response now! Did I say I was Happy? this bike is a 2000 RSV with 7,948 miles on it. bought the bike 2 years ago with 4,200 on it and it never ran like it does today. AGAIN , THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! Jeff

Well, I figured out why my Radiator Started to leak today. (slowly for the past month). I finely got it removed with the help on the phone from Scotty! (great guy)! I did take a bunch of pictures for a write-up that should be done by the end of the week. Any-how. The leak was caused by this Idiot.(myself) After removing the radiator I found this in-between (wedged) in the fan shroud and cooling fins , this happed to fall last winter when I was installing my TACH *oops* so in return, over-time it wore a spot right into the back-side of the cooling fins with the radiator slanted down-word makes it like it's leaking from the front. these are some pics of what it did on the back side. If you make the 2nd pic larger you can see the two small pin holes right in-between the colling fins on the main chamber. So to make a long story short.. LOOK FOR THAT Stuff that falls! *lol* I do remember it falling and thought it rolled someplace on the garage floor! Lesson Learned for this dummy! Jeff
