1. What is the brand of yours? ( Hannigan ) 2. Do you truly like and enjoy it? (I wish I had done this a few years ago. I truly enjoy it.) 3. Is there anything in particular that you dislike about it? (lower fuel mileage) that's is about it. 4. Do you feel in control at all times? (YES.. Don't think I would if not for the rake kit though) 5. Do you feel any safer now than you did on 2 wheels? (WAY SAFER) Much more now! 6. Do you have that Proud feeling, like "Busting your Buttons"? Or just always smiling!( Ear to ear Still) 7. Is turning corners on city streets any problems? tight turns are really easy.. 8. Is it hard to steer at all? (nope) Again RAKE KIT makes all the difference 9. How efficient are the rear brakes? The Hannigans are awesome , duel disk brakes 10. Have you ever tipped it up on 2 wheels? (nope, not going to happen with the Hannigan) the only kit with a 5 foot wheel base) 11. Can you push it backwards fairly easy? Extremely EASY , was one of my biggest worries as well. 12. How much did it reduce your gas mileage (about 7 miles per gal) Good Luck on what you decide! feel free to call me anytime if you need more Questions answered! Jeff

Kent, Also remember my 2000 only had 11,700 on it when I removed the coil I sent you.... your bike has WAY over that I am sure. (more time, heat, weather etc.) just a thought. I still am trying to get out to the garage today and will let you know by tonight or tomorrow what I might find on the two front coils. Another thing that came to mind is that I always run a number (7) plug and my bike likes it. (hotter plug) not even sure if that has any effect on the coils or not. just wanted to add that as well. Thanks so much for your hard and dedicated work on this matter, It would be interesting to have that cap of mine cross sectioned! Jeff

Oh BOY! your gunna have so much fun! I am excited for you! ENJOY! Jeff

I will be looking into the front coils today. I also still think that I might have one in the front as well. not sure yet. if I (think) I do , I will send that one to you as well. Jeff

Kent, That is good news! Now keep in mind that I had removed that cap off that wire a couple of times and screwed it back on.. not sure if that helps you your not. Is the problem deep inside the cap OR were it screws into the cap? Also, is it possible for us to maybe cut off a 1/4 Inch of the wire on the so called bad coils? Will you be able to cross section that cap? Anyways, thanks for what your doing! Jeff

Ohhh eusa1, what are we going to do with you, sheesh... besides taking you out to lunch!

might be asking about this screw under the cap above the curve of my allen wrench.. http://www.venturerider.org/rsvcarbremoval/image116.jpg

Thanks Kent, Check you PM! Keep in touch! Jeff

Kent, What does the pick-up coil do? and what and were is it? Somebody had mentioned this on another site, If that is bad it could be causing these problems well. Ohhh keep the cap as well you might want to cross section it for some reason Thanks, Jeff

I agree with Freebird, I hope everybody doesn't run out and buy coils. this will happen once in a while though. Not the everybody.... only me ! *lol* How ever there is a high heat problem on the rear coils. Your bike will run just fine with one bad coil. all that will happen is that you will notice TOP END power will be gone. Jeff

Coil on the way soon Goose! Jeff
-
Juggler. My last 4 coils were $24.95 for a set @ Pinwall. from a 2002... seem to be working fine so far. I would love to be able to find a higher grade coil (replacement) one day though.

Looks like you can get the (2) rears for $75.26 ?? Not bad. I will be checking my front two coils this week as well! Jeff
-
Found out here that they cost $79.00 at Yamaha.. And YES it is because of the wire lengths. the two rears will be the longest one's. Also, you might want to try and heat the coil up some how, do to the fact that they will bench test fine I believe when cold. The coil I am sending you will have 11,500 miles on it. wire looks great and the cap looks great. I would like to keep the cap , so send it back when finished when you can.. no hurry. Jeff

Kent, Send my your addy and I will send you my know bad left rear coil and I will want a full report sir! That would be for cyl (1) Correct? I will mail it out before the end of this week. probably Tuesday. Jeff
-
Yep mine was the inward coil as well. bike runs great now! this just happened to me as well last month. $24.95 at pinwall for all (4) coils. now I gots spares I thought I was going crazy:think: I did all the filter stuff , plugs , air filter yadda yadda nothing helped. weak coil was it. also, bench test will not tell you a thing when they are cold. what I think is that the inward coil is getting way to HOT! from the engine and ya get all that water on it, also the wiring faces to the bottom of the bike. These Darn bikes run pretty good on three cyl. don't they? *lol* Jeff

The only problem your going to have for a long time is the grinning from ear to ear while riding ! VERY NICE!~ Jeff

Need help...To Trike or not to Trike? That is the question.
Cougar replied to Aimhigh's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
Insurance company's are starting to get on-board, as they are finding out that when triked that they do not fall over as easy and when that happens with two wheels the damage can be 2 grand sometimes. matter of fact my insurance went down by 6 dollars a month. also my company told me all is covered for the conversion except the $1500.00 for the install fee. otherwise all is good and covered. the Hannigan also has it's own ven number as well. Keep asking Questions! I am home today if you need to call! Jeff -

AIS to the Rescue (AGAIN)
Cougar replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Goose, so when I was having a bad #3 Coil on the rear and did that same pipe check. is it cuz the coil was warmed you enough yet? Just wondering. ?? hardly had any spark going to that plug. however I did have my AIS removed. (all pipes warmed up even) Thanks, Jeff -
Lost a little top end power ...
Cougar replied to Cougar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
And... what a lousy place to put a set of coils... sheesh.. all the HEAT/WATER/ ELEMENTS etc. go onto those rear coils. I did add some di-electric grease to the post this time. and who thought of placing the connecting wires toward the bottom of these rear coils? Brilliant! http://www.venturers.org/Forum/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif Jeff -
