Weird Rattling sound when I pull on the clutch
Panjandrum replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
I am guessing it is the sound of Fate saying, "You should have stuck with the Venture, Rick!" But then, I am not a mechanic! -
WHY?????

Agreed! If someone has a different opinion, it is not a reflection on their intelligence. It just means they are WRONG! (At least until they have persuaded me to agree with them.)

Serious cornering questions tips for an experienced Rider
Panjandrum replied to muaymendez1's topic in Safety and Education
A couple of things from this interesting thread. Lots of people talk about scraping platforms/pegs. I am llooking forward to actually doing that some day. On the other hand, I lead lots of groups, often with experienced riders, and even without scraping, manage to leave many behind on the twisties... including many of those I consider to be good riders. I have also heard it said that it is not a good idea to have solid parts of the bike on the pavement. They tend not to have a lot of give. One piece of advice I have heard that has served me well on more than one occasion: If you are too hot into a corner, kiss the mirror and give a little gas. Giving it gas is counter-intuitive, and may be a bad idea if there is gravel on the curve, but worth practicing. If you can get used to the fact that these guys are riding on the left side of the road, the video below is very good at showing how to set up and plan for bends (curves). Did we get a cheaper rate than the rack price?

Towering over the distant city are the tall Kamui Mintara (Playground of the Gods) sculptures at Burnaby Mountain Park. The Kamui Mintara comprise more than a dozen carved poles created by Japanese sculptors Nuburi Toko and his son, Shusei. The Tokos are members of the Ainu culture, Japan's first inhabitants. Installed on the top of an open slope looking west over Coal Harbour, the poles honour the ties between Burnaby and its Japanese sister city, Kushiro. The spectacular setting inspired Toko to imagine it as Kamui Mintara, or Playground of the Gods. The poles represent the story of the gods who descended to earth to give birth to the Ainu. Animal spirits such as whale, bear, and owl adorn the tops of the slender poles that are clustered together in groups of twos and threes. A killer whale and a brooding raven stand apart from the rest, looking west across the Strait of Georgia towards Vancouver Island (and Japan). A stunningly beautiful setting, this is one of the best examples of art in a public place in the Lower Mainland.

I have been following this thread, but have not participated. Wanting an excuse for a ride, I checked in, and headed out to get my first shot. Somehow, I got it into my head that the target was a shot from a height. Had a great ride, and decided to share this view of Vancouver from Burnaby Mountain, even though the target is now a court house.

I also have CAA membership. They are everywhere in Canada, and membership translates to AAA in the USA. I have had them out to haul motorcycles 3 times in the last 6 years: #1) went down on diesel on my Maxim X, #2) ST1100 refused to start (wiring issue) #3 in Washington State on ST1100, hit a pot-hole hard and schmucked the rear wheel. There was usually a slightly longer than normal wail for a flatbed to load the bike, but otherwise, service has always been awesome. On two occasions, I was well over the 50 mile mark. As Brian says, the car is also covered, and I rely on them for free maps and travel guides. Been a member for 32 years! Money well spent.

So... what vacuum does someone who knows about carpet cleaning recommend?

Not new that restaurant staff can be a little dumb. This has to be THE classic scene, where Jack just wants a side order of toast... not on the menu. http://youtu.be/lwcYUMWwcG8

Don't waste your time if you don't like trivia...
Panjandrum replied to DANGEROUSDANA's topic in Watering Hole
I have never understood why catering establishments do not carry both Coke AND Pepsi. It's always one or the other. To me, they are different drinks. Sometimes I want a Coke, sometimes a Pepsi. (Cuba Libre MUST be Coke... Pepsi does not cut it. On its own, I prefer Pepsi.) -
Time for a cordless electric mower. NO OIL!

Given the risk of injury we face as motorcycle riders, it is comforting to know the technology available to today's orthopedic surgeons. This is a great animated film. Don't let an environmentalist know you are still using a garbage disposal. They put a tremendous strain on sewage treatment. Compost... if you can. Many local municipalities will pick up kitchen waste here, and it is becoming more common. Or... if you have a garden, make your own compost and create a natural fertilizer / soil treatment FOR FREE!

December 1st, and I found an excuse to ride. I was glad to have the heated vest, but did not need the heated gloves. A balmy 6 C (44F). I love living here! (I would put a smiley in here, but I don't seem to be able to.)

Would you guys mind helping me out in my marketting class?

Done! (But I admit I was not "Truly excited". False advertising!) -
In my opinion, the extra light provides extra visibility. Flashing brake lights do grab the attention of following vehicles.

You mean cassette player, right? I love the sound of these old engines. -
Based on the number of "Road Rats" I see on the roads, I would submit that there are: A) Not that many hunters or B) An awful lot of lousy hunters
