Road Pegs with Lower Wind Deflectors
Drkngas replied to Drkngas's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
WOW! No reply. There has to be someone on here that has road pegs with lower wind deflectors. Has anyone used Kuryakyn X-tension peg mounts? http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/466/X-Tension-Peg-Mounts- 16 replies

Great beginner bike. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

I've had my Kury Longhorn Pegs in the perfect position since I got the RSTD. A few months ago I added the lower wind deflectors (Yamaha). I cant seem to come up with the right adjustment for the pegs now without interfering with the deflectors. Their either too close or too low. Does anyone know of pegs that extend farther out to clear the deflectors but still allow for some height adjustment? Option 2: What do I use to trim the deflector? (If anyone else has done this, can you provide a picture? I dont care for this option because of the price paid for lower wind deflectors.)

First set of Avons. 1200 miles. Awesome tires! Never imagined this bike handled and rode like it does now.

Great stuff here! Thanks y'all! I plan on running away from home for a week as soon as kids school lets out for the summer. I dont think I'll be carrying my spare headlight but there is alot of things here I didnt consider. -
Tires - It's 'weighing' on my mind...

I went with the Avons last month. Never dreamed the RSTD would ride and handle like it does now. -
I dont think Ive ever seen R134a used in home AC. R-22 which is on it's way out is being replaced with R410a. They are not compatible and in most case if you upgrade you have to replace the freon lines with larger diameter ones.

Never really hated the Bridgestone till I had something to compare it too. Just put Avon Venoms on last month. Bike feels better on the road that I ever imagined.

Thinking of purchasing?

I found a RSTD last year at a great price. It is an awesome ride and the instruments grow on you pretty quick. Mustang seat made a big difference also. -
Awesome job Ken!!!

That V-45 is an awesome bike and that one looks really nice. Especially for that price. I had the same decision a few years ago as I moved my son from a Rebel 250 to a larger bike. He was begging for my v45 Magna and I decided to go with a Shadow 600 for him. He is a great rider for his age but the speed thing was the final factor. The v45 is seriously fast for its weight. I figure he can get "faster" later when he gets out of college. On another note..... In 1984 I went from a Suzuki GS250T to a Magna 700 and I survived.

Dang-it! I was sitting here all happy enjoying my day off bout to take a cat nap in the recliner. Already rode a few laps around Katy while experimenting with different road peg positions. Now I can even nap. The sudden craving for a dip-cone or a blizzard is too overwelming. DQ here I come!

My Harley neighbor cleans EVERYTHING with Pledge. I even saw him spraying every wire under the hood of his car with Pledge last week.

The Reda gas can as well as the MSR Bottles have a fill line to allow for the fuel expansion.
-
By the replies I'm going to say no one has one of these gas cans. A guy in my office purchased one for his Harley, I'll go check it out this weekend and report back on the fit. I also carry 1 or more MRS bottles and had to use them a few times on my last bike. Another reason I'm considering one or two of these is because my son rides with me and he has a small gas tank and we are planning a few long rides.

Has anyone tried to fit one of these in a current model Venture or RSTD saddlebag? I tried calling Reda Innovations and got the answering machine. Just wanna know how it fits or stays put once it is in the saddlebag.

I've been using that same $17 case for about 6 months wiht a 4.3" Garmin. Gps is dry. Zipped enclosure is easy to access. Touchscreen works through the plastic.

The speakers look about the size of cheap headphone speakers. Get some of those, plug in your ipod on high, lay them on your handle bar and see how well it sounds even before you start your engine. I'm thinking poorly.

My favorite drink: Plain ole iced tea with no fruit, honey or spices but with enough sugar added to make it qualify as hummingbird food. Southern style!

Engine Upgrade

If you do the Dyna 3000, (or is someone else has it), let me know what you think. I'm thinking I might do that before summer just to get more revs out of it.
