  1. I ride open faced. Just a cup holder for me with a sport-topped water bottle or a 20oz stryofoan cup. Never had a store not let me fill it with ice while gassing up. http://i42.tinypic.com/15ynu1.jpg
  2. Totally agree!
  3. Why does the grass look white?
  4. 15 yrs old -1972 Yamaha 125AT2 Enduro also..... 1981 Suzuki GS250T 1984 Honda Magna 700 7 year break to have a bunch of kids 1984 Honda Nighthawk 650 1996 Honda Magna 750 2005 RSTD a few dirt bikes, a garage full of 4-wheelers.
  5. These bikes are heavy.....$1.50 extra to fill up is better than pushing. I've gone almost 40miles after empty was indicated but I do carry gas.
  6. I've had so many battles with ATT U-verse that I have been tempted to yank it out many times. After the 5th wire run from their box to my house and a proper cable routing under the sidewalk avoiding the expansion joint, I think they got it right. They didnt belivee me when I said it only went down when the neighbor edged his yard.
  7. I never purchased one but am planing my spring rides and found this....... http://www.redagascan.com/portfolio/yamaha-royal-star-tour-deluxe/ looks likes a decent enought fit for me.
  8. Avons for me. Love everything about them and the way they feel on my RSTD.
  9. Wish I could've made this one! 10-15 miles probably isnt much of a ride but it sure looked like a good time. Hopefully see the title " First One -M&E 2012-Houston" on here soon.
  10. My favorite cokes are Dr. Pepper and Big Red. If I am in the mood for my coke to be a cola then I choose Coke (preferrably Mexican Coke with real sugar, not HFCS) first then RC Cola second. Seldom Pepsi. I do prefer Sweet Tea over any cola as long as it is brewed and sweetened with real sugar. Did anyone else used to purchase the tall bottles of cola (10 or 16 ounce) and pour a bag of peanuts in the bottle? That was a common snack in my youth.
  11. I have been working along the US-Mexico border all year. I see alot of the little Chevy El Camino wannabees there crossing the border. I forget what they call them in Mexico but I have wondered why they dont sell them here. I have also seen a Ford Ranger 4-door pickup. (No, It wasnt an Explorer Sport.) That one should be sold here.
  12. I tried stock (60-100 miles), Buttler Mod (150-200 miles), Mustang (300+ miles except in extreme heat). Then I mixed 2 common solutions to butt numbness and butt sweats. I made a wooden bead-sheepskin seat cover. Using two $6 sheepskin washmitts, a $8 bead seat cover (commonly used by Pakistani cab drivers who seem to stay in the seat all day with no problem), and some padded non-slip drawer pad. I used some heavy duty thread to sew it all together. In the heat of the Summer, I rode 9 hours straight at mostly over 100 degrees without numbness or sweating issues. The mustang seat is firm and my seat cover stays on top of it allowing nice airflow between the beads. Now it's hard to ride without it. Get some weed-eater string to line the beads.- (I think I got that idea on this site.) http://i40.tinypic.com/35mqn0x.jpg
  13. I live with the whine. This bike is such a pleasure to drive on long drives that it out-weighs any whining. I notice it the most when I'm driving 30-40 in 2nd gear. My Khromewerks pipes drown it out at highway speeds.
  14. I have Khrome Werks on my 05 RSTD. Sounds like a muscle car. Love it. http://www.khromewerks.com/ go to the Yamaha link.
  15. Ordered mine, should be here by Friday. $9.80 also. Now I'll get someone to buy the new grips for Christrmas!
  16. I ran away from home a 3 weeks ago and rode the Ozarks for 6 days. My pointer finger on my right had is still tingling and slightly numb. I'm thinking I was gripping too tight in the twisties because the rest of the time I was on cruise control. Time to replace the original grips. Hope the feeling returns to normal, it's hard to write. I'm thinking Show Chrome grips for handlebars with weights. I saw that on here, wanna keep the weights to hold on to while on cruise. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?action=reviews&model_id=0&Category_ID=10&manufacturer_ID=66&product_ID=24242

  18. When I bought my '05, (with 5200 miles on it) last year I walked into the dealer with cash in hand and drove off for $6300+ttl. Dont be afraid to start low. Really low.
  19. In and Out looks like Steak and Shake to me. YUK! The best burger I've ridden to in Texas is the Thirsty Parrot in Monaville but everyone knows the best burger is the one at home........ http://i54.tinypic.com/1yn0d4.jpg :usa::usa::usa:
  20. Some great ideas now. Thanks everyone for the pics. I've moved them 4 times now but dont think they're high enough for my liking. I'll try adjusting a couple more times based on what I've seen here before I resort to trimming them. CMIKE, what did you use to trim them? I'm still not convinced that these deflectors are what I need. It seemed to spread the hot air and cause more of an up-draft. I was riding on a really windy day, I'll try again on a normal day.
  21. I would like to see pics if it's no problem. That is what I was thinking might be my next move.
  22. When mine stopped working I had a sticky cancel button.
  23. Thanks for the pics. That is the way I had them but felt that my legs were too bent. I have decided that "too bent" is better than fully extended and too low. I guess before I hit the road for a week next month I'll decide if I want to keep the deflectors on or not. This weekend was the first time I got to ride any distance with the deflectors and they do make a difference while your feet are on the boards but since I ride with my feet on the pegs most the time I might be more comfortable without deflectors at all.
  24. Thanks for the replies. I guess I've had the pegs in what I thought was the perfect position for so long that nothing else feels right. I have the peg clamp facing me, I've tried beyond the travel of the wind deflector and my legs are fully extended and feet are almost on the ground in turns. I set them rotated in front of the clearance of the wind deflector and my legs are too bent. I was hoping someone wouldve had the same experience and found a great way to extend the road pegs beyond the wind deflectors or had different brand of adjustable pegs.
  25. I have found the best beginner bike that you dont out grow too fast to be the Shadow 600. The 4 speed tranny is like it's missing 1st gear which really helps a beginner learn to use a clutch without the fear of popping it and wiping out on starts. Also, you really cant kill the shadow 600 motor, cheap to maintain and looks great.
