Shark Motorcycle audio -- 2006 RSTD
KICKSHOT replied to dave_wells's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
May be too late but I bought a three pouch bag designed for a road king and mounted it to my winsheild. Amp is in the center and cord stored in right pouch. Smart phone in left pouch. Only play pandora, ipod or sirius thru it. I never open the pouch for the amp. kickshot -
I never found the need for another Venture related site. I have no ideal how many are out there. This one has given me all I ever needed since I joined all those years ago. kickshot

Maybe Makers Mark and getting older is a possible cause. At least I know it is for me! Kickshot -

While we are discussing parts and such. I used www.Partzilla.com to get the parts to replace my head gasket. It took a little time for them to ship it out but I ordered twenty things. I think one of the parts was not in stock. But once they shipped it arrived in three days. The prices were good too. kickshot -

You have to figure out for yourself how you are going to use it. I have hand guns that range from .22 to .45 caliber. But I carry my Taurus tcp 738 in .380 caliber every day on my person. I also keep others in the vehicle on long trips. But i always say if I knew I was going to need it I would perfer one of my .45's. I carry the smaller gun because carrying a full size .45 is hard to do. I do like my sigma .40 now that I had the trigger worked on. kickshot

Yes I do carry an extra magazine. The classes you speak of are a great ideal for any body that owns a gun. No magazines to be had around here either. Last time I went to Academy they had the lastest shipment of ammo dumped on the floor and people were going thru it like crazy. So I just got me some more 12 gauge 3 inch 00 buckshot for my riot gun. kickshot

coolant out of exhaust
KICKSHOT replied to KICKSHOT's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Gonna pull the plugs this weekend and figure out which cylinder the coolant is getting into. Yes I started it one morning this week and it started fogging out the left pipe as it warmed up and I mean alot. Thats how I knew it was coolant. If it was a Ford I'd be right at home but I have never been into my bikes engine yet. Other than the normal maintenance. Any way thanks for the information so far. I'll keep ya'll posted as I get it torn down and what I find. I just need to haul it to work and get time to do it. All my tools are at work and I really dont feel like doing it at home. Limited space to work here. Thanks again. kickshot -
My bike is burning coolant out the left pipe as you are sitting on the bike. I have not had a chance to determine which cylinder it is yet. Just a quick question for any one who may have seen this problem. Does the coolant circulate thru the head and jugs or just the jugs? Has any one had this problem with a second generation motor. I ride an 05 RSTD. Thanks in advance. kickshot

Common sense is not so common any more. Sad but ture. A year ago I was at Surfside Tx with my wife. The beach we were on is a no life gaurd beach. I went to swim while my wife stayed on beach. I have a little experience swimming in the gulf so I was paying attention. I noticed two young girls about 13 years old and an older guy about 18 swimming further out. It wasn't long before one of the girls was seperated and screaming for help. As I was swimming out to her I kept going thru the little bit of life gaurd training I had when I was younger. Sure enough when I got to her she grabbed me with both arms and legs. I assured her that I had her and she was not going to drown today but she had to release her legs and help me kick. Well every time a wave came she climbed me to avoid going under so I just took deep breaths and came back up and started side stroking again. I got her back to standing depth and went back to help the other two who were almost back to standing depth. I am no longer the swimmer I used to be and knew this before I started out, but I could not stand by and watch a person drown. The next day I learned two young girls had drown just two miles down the beach and one lady had to be rescued just up the beach. I hope the girls know how lucky they were. I guess all things do happen for a reason. kickshot

Its sounds to me like you have had two different problems. The first being a chatter on tight turns which can be fixed if the friction modifier does not help. The second is harder to tell by your description of it. But I can tell you the first problem should have been fixed on the first attemp. MAYBE the repair was done wrong. MAYBE not. I can tell you that ford parts are made to specs and these specs are tighter than they have ever been. (engine bearings are now mearsured in ten thousands instead of thousands of an inch) Thats why we are able to run these engines longer miles with proper maintence and why the correct oils are so important. Any way back to the topic. Ask to see your technicans certifications. Is he drive train certified? Does that shop have the proper equipment to set up the axle? If not take it to another dealer. Ask for a senior master tech to perform the repairs. Because you described the problems differently I don"t think I'd pounce on the lemon law thing just yet. It has to be the same problem each time. If the dealer is replacing the same parts each time and not fixing the problem then maybe it is being mis-diagnosed. Maybe they are repairing the results and not the cause of the problem. Good luck and remember that any body can produce a bad vehicle or model it is not limited to Ford. But I don't think you have one, I think you have not gotten good service. kickshot

I have been called three times in this county and served twice. One was a felony and the other murder. The felony took way too long and actualy got to the point where the D.A. rested because she tought she was about to lose our attention. The victim of the murder was the original manager of Grand Funk Railroad. Both took five days and both were guilty. All I can say is in this county they do not bring it to court with out a lot of evidence. One other thing I learned is if you are wrongly accused of a crime, get a very good lawyer. kickshot

Its been awhile since I installed mine but my tri bars came as a complete assembly housing and lamps. All I had to do was get the bar seperate. Also got the tri bar headlamp. The switch that is mounted in the left lamp came in the assembly. After a about five years the wiring to the switch broke and I by passed it. I have mine wired to stay on all the time same as the head lamp. Low or high beam mine stays on. No law in Texas agaisnt it that I can find. I have never been stopped for it. I installed a fuse in the power lead. As long as it is rated lower than the factory fuse it will blow first in case of a short. You can build your harness with heat shrink and get more protection from shorts. kickshot

Very serious thread "What can we make this do on a Venture"
KICKSHOT replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
Or you could do some thing that would really sell and design an adjustable drivers back rest out of it! kickshot OOOOOHHH YES! -
I feel it is my duty to serve on a jury if requested. If I was being falsely accused of a crime I would want people who felt the same way on my jury. That being said I have served on two juries and been called at least five times. One was a murder trial. It was a very sad deal all around. But it also gave me a new respect for how involved and difficult an officers job can be. Our police do a great job. kickshot

I was working as always. I do remember the day. My co-worker stated that he had saw some thing in the sky and was not sure what it had been. Later we learned it was the shuttle and were shocked. I also remember were I was the day the Challenger blew up. I was moving the oil rig I was day light driller on. Another sad day indeed. Brave Americans every one and heros for sure. kickshot

"One of the car’s front tyres was the type originally fitted to the model as standard. The other was a later version from the same tyre manufacturer. The two Goodyear tyres are not recommended for use together on the car." So if the original tire is no longer manufactured we just dont drive the vehicle any more?...... No we get a suitable tire and go on. Or here's a thought a new set of tires. The two goodyear tires are not recommended for use together? Why, is one made of rubber and the other lead? Just kidding I know tires all too well. I lived the Ford verus Firestone/ Explorer roll over debacle. A fall out that ended a very long relationship that was start by Ford and Firestone a long time ago. Well I guess that makes the owner or the person responible for installing them at fault! Just another way for people to say I am not responsible for my own actions! And so the world becomes less of a place because people are not accountable for their own actions...........Like I dont feel like working so government programs are my fail safe. I am sorry I failed to plan so some one owes me a retirment. Time to pay up hard working people you know you owe me!.....Really!!!!!!!! Sorry I have had enough of the world today. kickshot
