  1. Doing tires on a bike is not as hard as it seems even tubed wheels are easy just don't use screw drivers, and insure the bead your trying to remove or install is in the drop zone. Hopefully Nick doesn't show up to help (nicking the tube thus causing a leak) just remember to inflate the tube then release the air while moving the stem around to allow escaped air out from between the tube and tire. Don't let worry about balance just pick up some dyna beads they are compatible with tubed or tubeless tires.. Any car tire shop could do it on their coats machine orother make with minimal fuss and install the dyna beads. I install all my own tires at work on a coats and have done it on the floor with tire bars also when in the driveway. If you don't want to go the dyna bead route you could put a broom stick or something through the rim suspend it between two whatever, garbage cans, saw horses. and the heavy end will go to the bottom add weight to that end until it stops in any position you place it in and doesn't roll
  2. mmm, slight glitch there... back to the lab we go , wonder how many test drivers they've gone through testing this thing.
  3. Thank you we have a second mp3 its the wifes, her music sucks but I guess I'll need it to see if the problem lies in my player, if all else fails I'll yank the fairing apart and check everything out and clean and grease it all again, and if it the jack in the cassette player I'll just rig up something with a splitter.
  4. This also concerns the aux jack, I have an mp3 player and has been working fine now twice while riding the speakers start to bugger up, then I lose the sound, switch to radio works fine. Turn the bike off try a different jack wire from plug to mp3 still dead, although when switching through the modes on the mp3 the beeping comes through the speakers, but no music, mp3 works fine through earphones. ride on listening to radio stop for a smoke try mp3 player and it works? This tends to happen both times at highway speed 70mph plus, where should I check for a lose wire or could the jack be heating up... would wires running under the seats have anything to do with the aux jack, I would think all that would be in the fairing but who knows. Very fussy and need my tunes or can't function right, regular radio simply sucks.
  5. I just purchased my 07 rsv this past winter, after 18 days the rear gasket blew out of the head. Just got it back from the dealer last week with a complete topend rebuild done on their dime. They never checked the service bulletins and my vin was defintely one of those effected. It was a pain but the dealer covered everything and mine was an american bike they dragged up here to canada. So the warranty for some weird reason is void here now but they still covered it. I have purchased a two year warranty to cover whatevers just in case, but it wasn't needed in this case.. I have to add I have owned alot of bikes but this bike has to be the best I've ever ridden, everyday I ride it I fall in love with it more. The wife is calling it my mistress. You won't regret purchasing this bike, should have gotten one years ago..
  6. Heh I work really hard, when it comes to my bike, lol.. Its called good time management, rush through your work and take the time to do your own stuff. That and *****in to the boss that you work to much and never have time to even wash your bike helps..
  7. Yup was me, hard at work lol... Had to clean it up as just got it back from the shop and they have no idea on how to wash a bike..
  8. Well I will hopefully get answers to these question this coming week, as i hope to get something in writing of the work done. The only other thing I can think of is they found something they aren't willing to let me know about. Wonder if I can trace the vin in the states and perhaps get some info on the bike or some history on repairs etc.. Does anyone here have access to this type of info, or work at a dealership?
  9. Geez now you have me wondering, anyway my wife phoned today and spoke to the service team leader and he told her that the parts should be in on tuesday and they ordered a few extra things as they figured if they have it torn down they should address other issues? She couldn't tell me what the other issues are, but they did tell her its a big job and well take two possibly three days, they told her they have their best guys schedule free and clear and he will be the one working on it. I know before we left on thursday he told me it looks like a straight eight hours of work. seems rather long, I'm hoping I get a list of everything being done once its done and I can share it here, eight hours to two perhaps three days seems long to me. I've read here something about an I-basket recall, I wonder if they decided it would be wise to simply address all the known problems.. Another thought is they could simply be afraid of my wife as she told them she intends to be calling everyday hell she managed to push for surgery when they told her it couldn't be done and ended up getting it and is now 100% healthy... Oh and the service tech is scottish..lol, they have like four or five techs in this shop, its a big shop in London Ontario..
  10. I was told changing head gaskets and cylinder gaskets and oil seals, and they have to wait for the parts to come in. He said hopefully nothing is on back order, so its just not the tightening of the bolts, or it better not be... I would think once the gasket is compromised that it should be replaced. I will be keeping a very close eye on it for the next while once I get it back, I'm hoping they don't want me back there again with the same problem and I'm sure they don't want Sherry back, she was rather angry and let them know it....
  11. head gasket leak day.. I've had my RSV now for a grand total of 18 days, sitting at work this morning I noticed a drop of something under the bike. Upon closer inspection I found that the right rear cylinder seemed to be leaking oil, very diffulcult to see back there running my hand along the valve cover I knew it wasn't there it had to be lower. Called my stealer and explained just how upset I was about the fact that this happened and did they not go over a bike before delivery to a customer. After an hour and half ride to the dealers and three hours it was brought to my attention that they believe it has a service bulletin on this problem, not impressed was I and explained that to them, why when I called them at 1130am and then rode down there in two hours they didn't get on it and check for a SB. Instead I sat there smoking cigs and and steaming for three hours, while they puttered around having three techs looking at the bike. I have now read up on here about the problem, and hopefully once I get the bike back this will be the end of it. One question ... what are the chances antifreeze got into the oil and may have buggered up the bearings?? Anyone here have any problems after the heads and cylinders were pulled and reassembled, due to contaminated oil before the fix? So just so I'm armed when I go back to the dealer after a major job such as this the valves should have been set correct and carbs sync done, as i want to be sure of what I'm demanding before I leave the dealer ... Thankfully the only thing I will be out is time with the bike, which rain is forecasted for the next five days, so hopefully they will get it back to me soon. Hopefully my boss isn't to pissed I just left at lunchtime and told him the bike is more important right now than work...opps..lol
  12. Mine turns blue after dark, I thought they all did that. I thought it was the neatest thing ever when I first saw it..
  13. Regular air is fine, I find it hard that people here have said they check the air on their nitro filled tires and they never change. Every time you check the air pressure you lose air. This whole thing is nothing but a gimmick, I see forty to fifty wheels everyday and it doesn't matter what they are filled with corrosion exist along the bead and chromed wheels are junk mopar and gm have to have the worst rims on the planet. I know of one shop that puts on a green cap and charges customers for nitrogen yet uses regular air, glad I'm not paying $50 for plastic green caps, oh and the corrosion of the valve cores in sensors happens with air or nitrogen.
  14. It is hard my wife rides with me all the time, and she is my world I would be devestated if anything ever happened to her but 19mths ago she went through brain surgery and now we both have changed and spend even more time together as we both realize that if one of us were to leave, we want those memories. Her close call has brought so much closer than we ever were. She just said to me how do you think I would feel if your out on the road and something happens and I find out from someone else or the police, so I guess the fear we feel for our wifes is felt by them for us also..
