  6. Check out the How to Step by Step section there. A lot of interesting mods... http://gl1800riders.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=33 This is the one I use more than any, and miss on the RSV,,, as well as the front pockets. http://gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198572
  7. My kit is in motion, and will be here in the morning,,, Now I know how every body feels while their waiting. (not really I had other things to keep me busy ) It has the first tank out on it and will post a couple of photos tomorrow afternoon.
  8. I hope so I have been using it on all the bikes that I have been doing brakes on for the last year or so... mostly Honda's, and RSV's and an occasional HD...
  9. Yea I just looked at mine also, and there just ain't a good way to get them open.. I will have a set for sale here in a couple of weeks when I start working on my 02,,,almost the right color,,, Red over wine ( Bordeaux I think) Good luck...
  10. Here in God's Country ( TX ) where we can ride most of the year, what plug would be the best for this temperate zone,,,, I have in long years past went up in heat ( down in number I think it went ) and cant remember how that turned out,,,something to do with age I think I know the stock plug is DPR8EA-9 What about the 7EA-9
  11. I guess I am learning, or re-learning things about carbs,, or just got lucky,, I had the chance to get in a quick 110 this afternoon, and took the RSV instead the Honda, mainly because it was full, and I am going to have to drain it out here soon, any way so why not just ride some of it out. Started it up after wrestling it out of the garage from in front of the Honda, and was letting it set and idle for a few while I got a drink, riddiin stuff on. About 5 good minutes, felt the right rear pipe shield, and it was at least warm, not hot like the others, but trying. It seemed to be idling just a tad slow to me so I rolled in what was 75/110 more rpm's by ear ( or a good guess at it ) Took off, It is running good ( I think, it is strong, and not poppin, and missin ) I ride out 55 or so miles, and turnaround, and come back. It felt good to just set out and cruse for a short while on 2 again. Now I don't have a single clue of the performance of this machine MPG, and things like that, but just happened to be looking at the gouge when it dropped off the third tic mark on the gas, and that was at 79 miles. OK I will keep an eye on that and try to catch the next tic drop off. That happened as I was turning into my drive way,,, Not I thinks to my self 30 miles to a tic mark,, ( maybe ) It dropped the 4th mark right there in the drive. My calculator tells me that is is closer to 27.5, but close enough for Gov work, and I had been starting it a couple of times a week for the last three or four weeks also. Does that sound pretty close to what it should be getting as far as MPG. I haven't and wont get the chance to run a few tanks through it until I get it converted.. The kit comes in Friday, and I will start on it the first, after I get a Kaw out of the way and finished....... Oh and I let it idle for a while when I got back to see if the right rear tube would cool off, and if didn't seem to cool down like it did last week,,,,
  12. Thanks: What kept ya from stopping before Did that Honda Goldwing scare ya off
  13. OH yea, I do know that, and acutely plan to (key word there is Plan) to clean the connections that I do by hand if possible. I have a small stainless set of contact brushes that I use for that, and chase it with the contact cleaner then di-electric. I have until Thursday or Friday to work up the list of things that I am going to have to order, and get it all ordered to have it all here when I start rippin things off it. She is getting a good deep cleaning too. It isn't bad , but why not I am going to have plenty of time while I am waiting for the paint shop,,,,,
  14. In the plan. I picked up a tube of dielectric grease, and anti-seize for the plugs ( been borrowing that ), and have the cleaner spray already.
  15. OH I is gonna do the steering head trick for sure cause is am changing out the tree.. I am planning on a lot of lude photos, while I am undressing her right down to the nitty gritty,,,, Getting all excited just thinking about it, and have to wait a good two weeks yet,,,,,,
  16. I just recently got my 2 RSV, and really haven't ridden it too much at all, but going to when I finish redoing it. It is a Beast for sure, and big time Top Heavy. What ridding of it I have done is great, and I love it, but slowing down, ans turning around in the road is the pits ( for me ) I am only 510, and have bad knees, and have a time keeping it up if it gets just a tad of center. Love the bike for sure or I wouldn't have it.. I for the moment ride the Goldwing but soon will be splitting the time between the two. In the past when changing bikes it always took a lot of getting use too. It will come I am sure.
  17. OH I do do that.... I am going to build an album on my photo-bucket for this project. Looking forward to it, and then again NOT Its HOT down here this time of the year, and the shop ain't got air cept'n what blows through,,, not much better in the winter ether. Now I wished I wasn't Broke...... I need afew things ( want a few things ) that would be easer to do now while there.. Anybody have a good set of Passing lights cheap,,,
  18. I'm not lost (yet) hanging right in there with ya, but I don't understand, or know about this steel washer your talking about. I have replacer a few trees, and going to be doing mine here shortly.. I haven't noticed any of the tightness in one spot,, The theory is good, and I understand it. I have spent more than enough time trying to get seats to seat, and with every thing under the sun from freezing them to pressed. I have a bearing/race seating tool set now that makes it easer, but you just HAVE to get it started perfect or it becomes a real chore. When you take a tad off the race, I am assuming that your talking about an RCH Tad and checking fit . Not just getting after it....... The fit: Is it Drop in snug,,or tap in tight,,
  19. Other than the obvious things, Fuel filter, air filters, plugs... Is there any thing that I should look at for replacement, while I will have the bike down to the frame here in a couple of weeks ( other than more time to spend on it and money, cooler weather ) I only need tips/hints , suggestions for the front from the side covers forward... The rear I have a good grasp on,,, getting rid of it....... Any thing that I really should do before I strip it down. Once I get every thing off for paint it pretty much becomes a door stop for a couple of weeks........
  20. I drained that bowl ( after I figured out where the drain was,, the manual that I down loaded doesn't seem to be the best in the world for that or I just missed it. I found where the drain is located after a couple of hours reading searches) Well I only have a minute or two to check what was happening because company came in. The draining of the carb bowl did some good (maybe) I started it and let it idle for 5/8 minutes and the right rear was hot Not as hot as the others, but never the less hotter than it had been, and the shield was good and warm, not hot like the front two, but before I could reach under the shield and hold onto the pipe and it wasn't even warm much less hot. I may try the B-12 into the bowls (because I have a lot of B-12 in the shop) and let set for a day or two th see if that doesn't help some at least. I wished that I had of ridden it more than I have to get a feel for its performance on a few runs. I am thinking that at least it needs a good Sync too, and don't know weather to just get a gage, and learn how to do that, or for the time try to find some one close, that could help a little.
  21. Thanks for the tips. I will drain the rear carb tomorrow,a nd see what happens. Learning more and more every day on this thing... It does run good and strong on the road, and no back firing, or popping.
