  1. Probably bent the support arm just a tad. Get the lid up as far as you can and take the upper bracket off, and from there you should be able to put it back into straight shape. The slide bar should slide up and down with out any friction to speak of. Not that bad of a job.
  2. Yep ya have to take the lamps out to adjust them to where you want them to shine. a real pin in the butt !!
  3. I use the Butler set up on the RSV and GW works great. Couldn't find one like ECKS.
  4. That is what I also use on both bikes, and the tractor. Got them several years ago, and cut the clips off and put a cig plug on the two for the bikes, and use the clips for the tractor and what ever else needs a touch up for a few days. Works great I do have direct battery connections on both bikes for high power distribution point ( 30 amp )
  5. Curious: what they look like ! I guess that I didn't follow where they are for Do they cover the ugly black plastic covers behind the lowers up toward the top???
  6. I found out this past week end that the RSV Trike is miserable performance pulling the camper, gas mileage was about the same as my pick up,,, 105 on the first main tank, and 85 on the second. Good thing I have the extra tank with 4.5 + gals worst was 18.333 MPG. May have been the crappy gas mix I picked up in West TX.......
  7. Like mentioned the Stator is the weak point on the GL1200. I rode the heck out of mine, and pulled a trailer all over with it also in Ark. Great bike, but remember it is over 22 years old and parts are HARD to come by now, and getting a little on the expensive side. A supply and demand thing, those that have the parts demand a good price for them, because of the unavailability. Had 84K on mine when I sold it and only thing I did was add seafoam now and then ( twice to three times a year ). As far as I know the valves were as sent out from factory, never checked em...
  8. Me also: I thought it was/is the nature of the Beast ( carberated (sp) and all ) The Goldwing is EFI, and starts right up any time.
  9. Wally World or almost any Auto Parts Store. I would run the carbs dry with pitcock closed, then add a good dose of Sea Foam and let set for a couple of hours, then open pit cock and start. That is the quickest way to get it into the carb bowls to start working.
  10. I put on a Tulsa Tall - wide ( tented ) and that helped a ton. It is new for this year I think.
  11. Here is a shot of an 06 up: You can get really into it like this. http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/oo265/kj5ix/Tech%20Tips/VentureRake.jpg Here is a shot of a 10 Goldwing in the same position with same jack... http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/oo265/kj5ix/Installs/What.jpg If you are wanting to get the whole Trike off the ground, it can be done like this, but it is safer if you use a car ramp to roll or ride up on for the front ( the wheels on the jack still work quite well with a load on them,,, ) I have used the car ramp on several occasions when needed to have clearance all the way around. In this photo you can see the back end of the ramp that the front tire is up on, I didn't need to raise the rear for this job, just needed a little higher clearance in the front. http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/oo265/kj5ix/01%20Venture/mess.jpg
  12. Nope: Just a small floor jack under the front of the engine. You can get it up high enough to change the forks and triple tree with just a flood jack. I use a 6 or 8 inch 2X4 or 1X4 ( what ever I have handy ) some times against the engine, but have mostly just put the jack foot against the forward part of the engine, and jack it up. ( watch the filter area ) which is off to the left of the center. On my cheap little floor jack I have taken the pin out from the shoe that is on top of the foot of the jack head ( which gives an additional 1.25 inch clearance ) which also provides a cup like flat base to jack against.
  13. I have a K&N Hydrolic lift for working on Trikes ( they ain't cheap ) Just to get the rear up I use a small floor jack and put jack stands under the shock by the tire. That works well if you have a trailer hitch, if not it is a lot more difficult to get up cause the frame is so far back. Don't try to lift it by the two metal pieces that the body is attached to in the rear those will move on ya, and then there will be an alignment problem with the body. Because the rear end is off set to the right it will lean to the right when you raise it, and you will need some one to push down on the left fender to get the stand under the shock.
  14. Just saw the spot on Dish Big Dog now :)
  15. Contact Gary at Lone Star Trikes in Canton ( near Detroit ) his painter is one of the best, and reasonable. 800-591-6610
  16. Yea check out my attempt to get an Award,,,, http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52841
  17. Could be,, It did the same thing before I Triked it, but I didn't really ride it all that much as a 2 wheeler, just short 25 or so trips to keep the engine exercised.
  18. Mine engages, and functions ( most of the time ), but dis-engages for no reason some time right away, and others it takes a few miles. Then again it seems to work sort of fine for lots of miles, or until it gets hilly..... Though of it maybe being a weak vacuum pump of maybe a leaky line,,, but it does work????? I also thought of the throttle cables being a little tight ( return is a little slow ) but haven't had time to check that out completely yet..... Any Guru's have any thoughts. Wished there was some one in these parts of God's Country that knew a double boxcar load about this machine.
  19. It is North and slightly West of Killeen on Hwy 180. http://www.snyderchamber.com/bikefest.htm

Kool: on the RPM's I have it set to where it sounds like around 9 to 1000.
  21. Any one going to the "White Buffalo" Rally in Snyder TX; Oct 1st thou 3rd. We will be there again and if you come in Gate 2 in the afternoon, I'll take your money to get in,,,,,
  22. No but we will be at the White Buffalo Rally in Snyder the weekend before 1st 2-3rd
  23. I am still getting use to the RSV Trike that I just finished. The power is there, and just have to remember when and where to shift. I found that 5th is useless under 55 or so, and pulling my camper in a slight hilly area I almost had to stay in 4th. The power is there ; just have to know how to use it. Gas mileage: Well just plain Sucks with the Trike, but love it any way. Last tank was 30 MPG around town mostly. Not all that bad. I don't think you will have premature engine ware.

I have one and haven't taken the wrap off yet I am still trying to get the feel of the engine well it is the only excuse I have We have a good long ride coming up in a week, and going to put in a good hot dose of sea foam (second dose) and go from there. I really don't have a clue when it was done last...... after this cleaning out I will give it a try. How important is the 900/1000 RPM while doing this. I may be able to get it close by ear, but haven't ever heard an RSV set at 1000....... Also will have to find the instructions mentioned above...
