  1. If you are sure your carbs are clean, make sure you have the lower fairing pieces on or bike will exhibit the same symptoms.
  2. That is exactly the shield I have been thinking about getting. Can't wait for pics.
  3. You did the right thing.
  4. Search you tube. There is a video of it out there. I have done mine twice now. The first time wasn't real fun as there is a learning curve. The second time went well. Two things come to mind. Check alignment marks on each side. This is your starting point when you start to tighten belt back up. The second thing is when reinstalling tire, make sure that axle is inserted and lined up with opposite side before you install caliber. Good Luck
  5. Check out worldometer.com. It may provide you the answer.
  6. When I sold my 2007 RSV I removed the footpegs that was on that bike and reinstalled them on my 2018 Star Venture. They fit very well. They are Kuryakyn Longhorns with the 1 inch clamps.
  7. Yamaha would like us to adjust the valves when the piston is at top dead center(tdc). As long as the cams are timed correctly, Yamaha doesn't care where the position of the camshaft is. The lobes might be straight up or they may be off center a few degrees at tdc. Most cams are ground accordingly allowing for this. I have always followed Yamaha's instruction for this and have checked them after adjustment with the lobes straight up. If I had feeler gauges that would go to .0001 increments there may be a difference but maybe not. Yamaha also allows us a little slack when it comes to adjusting the valves. If they wanted it to be precise they could of said 'when piston is at tdc the clearance of the intake valve should be exactly .004 not a range of .004 -.006. Anyway this is my take on valve adjustment. I could be completely wrong.
  8. Thank you Doug. It was a pleasure to meet Doug. Super nice guy. Hope to see him sometime in the future. Have fun in Arizona
  9. I installed mine per the instructions and have had no leaks. You could put a little dab of silicone there to help.
  10. As long as the belt is adjusted properly I don't see an issue with pulling a trailer.
  11. If I remember correctly there were some rubber strips that went under the rack supports. I would have to look at mine to be sure.
  12. Tire pressure gauges usually aren't 100 percent accurate but they are close. Your sensors in the tire aren't exactly accurate either but they are close. I would say that you have plenty of air in your tires. If I am within 10 percent of max tire pressure I am happy.
  13. If it were mine I would make sure it is running on all 4 cylinders. A good way to check this would be to start it when the engine is cold. Let it run for 15-20 seconds and shut off. Check all 4 exhaust pipes by the head. They should all be about the same temp. If you have one that is colder that is the cylinder that is not firing.
  14. That is one good looking bike.
  15. Heal quickley my friend. It is better than having the evil cancer.
  16. If it is successful for the kids, why not. Kudos to them
  17. I use oil analiysis on my motorcylce oil. When I draw a test sample of oil I get it from the oil tank drain plug. Have to be really careful or a guy could lose a lot of oil. That is where I would drain some extra oil out. Another place would be to loosen the oil filter.
  18. That is correct on the dipstick but the oil has to be hot(operating temp) let it sit for 15 min before checking. That is how I do it, seems to work The only other way is to drain oil and measure. If your at 6 qts your 1/2 quart over.
  19. I've never had to add oil. It is always at the full mark. Make sure you are checking your oil properly or you will overfill it.
  20. I have never taken his course but have watched his videos. I have learned a lot from him. Someday maybe!
  21. I have used one specific synthetic motorcycle oil for the last 255,000 miles on 3 bikes. No clutch problems or any other kind of problems. When one switches to a good quality synthetic oil and developes a clutch problem it is because they already had a clutch problem, just didn't know it.
  22. The rear tire already has an angled valve stem. Points backward on the high side of the bike when on side stand. Front tire is straight.
  23. I have 14,000 miles on my Star Venture and have had zero issues. Some guys may be washing their bikes with a pressure washer and getting water into the switches. Not a known issue.......yet.
  24. I believe that is the code that some people are getting when one of the cruise switches start to fail. Your dealer should be able to fix you up
