  1. On the light bar under the headlight, there is plastic chrome piece that snaps over the center of the light bar. These become loose over time and can cause a racket. I taped up the light bar with electrical tape and reinstalled chrome piece and this fixed that rattle. Just one thing for you to look for.
  2. I am not sure how accurate these cheap volt meters are. They may just give you a general idea of what is going on for voltage. If battery shows no indication of overcharging I would check it with a good quality meter. A overcharging AGM battery would get really hot, if it is a acid battery you would see acid boil over on battery.
  3. Just looked at reviews of this item on Dennis Kirk site. One guy had this hooked up on bike for 2 months without starting and it was still showing over 12 volts. You should be OK. Looks like it has a low draw.
  4. My wife and I just got back from a trip to the UP. Rode 1500 miles in 4 days. Great trip. Have fun.
  5. Completed a 1500 mile trip. Great to be retired.
  6. I have never owned one, but i have been looking at them as a second bike to my Venture. There is no factory cruise control until 2013 and they limited it to 85 mph. 2014 and later have cruise but you can set it up to 100 mph. As far as I know none of the years had a sound system but you could add something. All the later models have electric windshield and adjustable seat. What I have done is spent alot of time on fjr owners forum and fjr forum. These 2 forums have tons of info on these bikes. If you like to read these are the places to go. Good Luck
  7. Turn the motor over by hand a couple of times to push the oil out from under the shims and recheck. Your numbers don't sound right. Good Luck
  8. No option for me either. I run a mix of 1 up and 2 up and average about 25,000 miles on the rear tire. This is using E3's. Get over 30,000 on front.
  9. Not running. A lot of the oil is circulating inside of the engine when running.
  10. I have a 07 RSV and had a whine that made the same sound that you hear when you pass a semi truck on the highway. It was that high pitched whine coming from the rear end of the truck. My whine also sounded like it came from the back of the bike. I had all the bearings in the rear diff replaced and that killed most of the whine from the back of my bike. When I got the vmax gears installed in the diff. all the noise was gone. If you start to replace parts just make sure your working on the correct end of the bike.
  11. How old is the brake fluid in the clutch master cylinder? Is it dark in colour? Old wore out fluid will cause shifting problems.
  12. This is a digital gauge cluster. Should be no cable. You could trace the cable to see if you can find a connector. If there is a connector take it apart and inspect for dirt or corrosion. Other than that I am not sure what the problem would be. Possibly speed sensor. I don't think speedo is bad it just sounds like speedo is recieving improper signal.
  13. I would check the sensor in the rear diff to see if there are metal filing stuck to it. If there are I would clean it and drain rear diff oil in clean pan and check for more metal filings. If all looks good refill with new oil.
  14. The only way I know to blow a diode is over current or over voltage. In this case I would have to believe it is over current. You will have disconnect loads one at a time to find problem. Being that the lg wire was fried I would start by disconnecting the carb heaters and go from there.
  15. I have been considering changing my fork oil. I read the 'Changing the fork oil' in the tech section and am confused by one of the procedures. It is as follows ' -- you can reinstall the damper bolt and its small copper sealing washer with a little sealer on the threads. It is best to lower the front end so that compression of the forks and their inner components takes place and alignment of the damper rod meets with the access hole'. So are you suppose to lower the forks to the floor to compress them? If you do that how do you insert bolt? Maybe I am misunderstanding.
  16. I believe he is talking about number 7 on the diagram. The windshield screws to this as well as the top portion of the fairing.
  17. Are you referring to the green water hose?
  18. I have a 07 midnight. Everytime I have pulled the driveshaft out of the rear diff. there has been a little bit of oil on splines. Make sure when you fill rear diff with oil that oil is at proper level. This will insure that oil gets into splined area.
  19. Just did my swing arm bearing at 63,000 miles on my 07 midnight. Everything felt good but brgs. were showing signs of pitting. There was almost no grease on brgs. I replaced them.
  20. Check your ignition fuse behind the left side cover.
  21. If you can get to central Minnesota, be happy to help
  22. What may have happened is when you replaced the fuel pump a little bit of dirt fell off one of the hoses and got inside the fuel line. This worked its way to one carb and caused your needle to not seat. I would drain that carb using the drain screw. Do it 2 or 3 times to try and remove any dirt in the bowl. Because you turned your fuel off there should not be much gas in the oil. I would remove oil fill plug and see if you can smell gas fumes in the crankcase. You could also remove oil filter and drain contents into a clean container and see if there is gas in your oil. If you can't see or smell gas in oil you are probably ok not to change oil. If there is any doubt in your mind change oil any way.
  23. You'll love that Titan. I have a 2009 Titan, great truck
  24. yes they can be very noisy in the corners. Straight up they are fine.
  25. Thanks for the replies. Called dealer and they ordered a new pump. It is still in warrenty and the service guy said no problem. Should be here by end on week if it isn't back ordered. I did check the fuel filter and it is fine, but will be putting in a new filter when I change the pump out.
