I have owned 3 different Yamaha Motorcycles the last 15 years. Since 2007 I have been riding a 2006 RSV. I love the bike and have put 34,000 miles on the bike. I had been taking my motorcycle to the same dealer in Columbus for 14 years. I had always received more than adequate service even though the prices were a little high. Last summer the service department went through a change and the quality went straight downhill. My bike was in the shop 4 straight weeks last summer because they cracked a tab on my fairing, forgot to order a few parts, and for the most part were about as rude to me as anyone has ever been. I had been in contact with Yamaha customer relations and they recommended I take my bike to the Iron Pony for regular maintenance. I dropped my bike off there last week to have the steering head bearing looked at, valve adjustment, carb sync, oil change, and overall inspection. This has been by far the best service experience I have had to date! Their prices are ½ of what I was paying, they are professional, polite, and very knowledgeable. Chris, the assistant service manager, was able to replace my steering head bearing under factory warranty. I was very appreciative of this as my warranty expires in 4 weeks. I strongly recommend this service department and look forward to them keeping my bike running well and safe!

I have a 2006 and take great care if this bike. I have always has scheduled mait done and with every trip I have always asked about the front end wobble. I have always been told this is just part of the bike, weight transfer, etc....I have had the steering head tightened, air in the front forks, new tires, et all. I have never had a bike do this and just about at my wits end. I talked to a Yamaha customer support rep and they agreed with me this is not normal. Going to take it to a new dealer to have this looked at. Anyone else had this problem and if so what are some things I might be missing??

Kuryakyn ISO grips and end weights
kkent66 replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I took a little bit of a different approach to get my bar ends to fit with my ISO's. I took one grip and both bar end weights to a machine shop. They lathed the bar end wieght collar down to a diameter that fits inside of the ISO's! Looks great and they fit perfectly! -

Thanks for the suggestions. I worked many, many hours on this over the weekend and could not figure anything out. My bike goes to the shop today for 16,000 mile mait/tune up and I am now at the mercy of the dealer! I will post back what they found out!!!

I am installing OEM passing lamps on a 2006 RSV. Everything had been going great. I am at the point where I mount the lamps to the bike and begin connecting the wires from the blinkers to the connections inside the faring. To my delight after I hooked up the left blinker - Black, Chocolate, and blue - then the right blinker, Black, Dark Green, and blue, to the wires inside the faring both blinkers worked, and the head light, high and low beam worked. I did not like the way I had brought a few of the wires into the faring so I disconnected the black wire, from the right blinker, and moved it around the mount bracket, and plugged it back in. I turned my bike on and now my head light will not come on and the lights on my dash board will not come on either but my blinkers work. Here is what I have checked; 1) Every fuse on the bike - none blown 2) Pulled the head lamp bulb out - still good 3) Disonnected all wires coming from the blinkers to the wires in the faring and made sure all connections were good. - still no head light I am at a loss. Any help would be much appreciated!

Noticed the other day my ignition switch was very hot at the end of a ride. When I pulled my key out the key was very hot to the touch. I don’t have passing lamps and have never had this problem. Any thoughts?

I know there are a buch of threads out abount tires, however, I just wanted to double check on brand. I have been using metzler me880's for a while but not happy with them at all. I am looking at Dunlop Elite 3's and just want to make sure this is a good tire(s) for my 06 RSV.

I am new to this forum and just wanted to send a blanket thanks for all the great help I have found. In the past month I have found info on this forum to complete the following work on my 2006 RSV; 1) De-tag my bike 2) Fix my sticking cruise control 3) Fixed the wobble by tightening the steerting head bearing 4) Replace the tips on my bub exhaust 5) Re-packed my baffles 6) Replace my front speakers with Polk db401 7) Added bass reducing capitors on the Polks 8) Fixed my radio by cleaning all electrical contacts with dieltrical grease. I think that is about it and all of these things I was able to do from information found from other memebers willing to share knowledge. Thanks to all!!

Repacked my BUB's today (pics/video)
kkent66 replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
would re-jetting be a solution or just put the baffles back in?? -
I have bubs with the messed up tips as well. When I removed the tips and baffles there was no packing left at all. Just for the fun of it I started up my bike and loved the way it sounded. I use to have a v-star 1100 w/vance and hines and miss that sound. So what would happen if I dont put my baffles back in? Would my carbs need to be re-jetted? Would heat become an issue and cause the pipes to crack, chip, or blue??

Took it to dealer and everything checked out ok. They said the switch on handle bar was dirty and sticking. Cleaned it up for me and had it on the road the last two days and no issues!
