5. I have a 2006 RSV with 54k miles. Bike is running super fantastic. I live in Ohio and took advantage of the great weather yesterday and put a few 100 miles on the bike. No problems, no moaning/groaning from shock. When I went to work this morning i noticed a small drop of oil directly underneath the rear shock. I'm confident my engine oil level is NOT to high (not even 1/2 up on glass) so I took a quick look at the shock. I noticed a gap between the boot and the base of the shock and where the oil was coming from. I would have to assume my shock is on the way out. Here are 2 pics. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
6. Should have put this in my original post - I use Mobil 1 racing 4T 10W-40. I do ride 2 up most often but I do not pull a trailer!
7. I have a 2006 RSV with 54k miles. March of 2012 I upgrade my clutch spring with a PCW heay duty clutch spring. I did not upgarde my friction plates as the guy at PCW said those should be good for 75k miles. Here is a list of all mait I have done the past few months; Flushed cooling system Replaced Spark Plugs Changed oil & filter Changed final gear oil New Rear brak pads New Front brake pads Flused front and rear brakes with might vac Flused clutch with might vac Installed HID ligt Istalled a tune trapper antenna installed a power amp and new polk speakers - front and rear Sync carbs with my new morgan carb tune Installed an iphone charger directly wired to battery with relay and on/off switch My bike is running better than ever but I still get a little bit of slippage when I roll hard on the throttle. I am wondering if I need to replace friction plates?? No problems shifting and if I dont "floor" the accelerator no slipage. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
8. Just finished installing a power AMP and new speakers on my 2006 RSV. Much improved sound with the speakers and much louder with the AMP! I appreciate being able to look at articles in the tech library and input from others. The job was not hard just time consuming!

10. I have a 2006 RSV 53k miles. I am installing an AMP and new rear speakers. I am a little confused and the +/- wires for the rear speakers. I see a R/Y and Black/Brown. How do I know +/-???
11. what type of amp did you use and where did you purchase?
12. I used a vice grip to hold a lock nut behind the support brace - tight as can be!
13. Yeah I was thinking that but was having a hard time figure out how to get the lock nut back there - I will give it a shot - thanks for the advise!
14. I have a 2006 RSV 53k miles. I am having the standard trunk support bolt issue. I picked some hex head bolts and the two on the left hand side went in without any issue. One of the two on the right hand sand went in without issue. The final bolt feels like the whole is stripped out. It threads and turns fine but never really gets tight. I tried an SAE bolt and one size larger metric bolt but no luck. Any suggestions?
15. Does anyone know when freebirds MD is? How does MD work??
16. Thanks guys - I did NOT tighten to 51 ft lbs - I got to about 8 ft lbs and could tell that was PLENTY tight. Here is the pic from my service manual!
17. I removed my fuel tank last week to flush my cooling system, replace plugs, and add a HID light. I noticed in the service manual the torque specs for the two side bolts is listed as 51 ft lbs. Is this correct??
18. I purchased an F4 for my 2006 3 years ago. They are fantastic sheilds and cleaning is a VERY easy. As far as the vent I believe it to be personal preference and no one way is better than the other!
19. I have a 2006 RSV with 50K. When i first had the bike I put Metzler ME 880's on and did not have good luck with them at all. We ride 2 up all the time and did not want to worry about my tires every 6k miles. After much reading on this forum I went with Dunlop E3's. I put my last set on two years ago and have gone from Ohio to California and back two years ago and then Ohio to Maine, Canada and back last summer. I curretnly have 11,000 miles on the tires and will change out mid summer. They are great tires.
20. Awesome - thanks for your help - much appreciated!
